Dale stood at the entrance of the house on Maple Street, the supposed hiding place of his cousin and Charles Hawk. He sighed. So people just didn’t know when to take a chance. He’d given Williama Brown an opportunity to escape. If she had told the truth, he would have walked away and left her fate in the hands of her son- Aiden Hawk.

And for all his qualities, that guy was not as ruthless as Dale. So, she would have been spared. But now...

He had been generous—more than generous, Dale thought to himself. If she had co clean, he would have left her be. But instead, she had chosen to defy him.

And now, here he stood, staring at the house that she and her allies had turned into a death trap. Did they truly believe he would storm in blindly, like so reckless fool? A bull in a china shop, crashing through the front door, only to be blown to pieces the mont he stepped inside? He let out a dry chuckle. A little common sense went a long way, but clearly, Williama had none.

Since she refused to use her head, he would make the first move.

Without hesitation, Dale raised his gun and fired into the window. A second later, an explosion ripped through the house, sending fire and debris into the air. Flas spread quickly, engulfing the building as smoke poured into the sky.

Dale didn’t move. He just watched.

This was what happened when people made the wrong choices. Without a word, he turned around and walked back. This ti to the airport.

Kimberlee checked over her shoulder for the nth ti, her nerves on edge. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Dale was already here, watching, waiting.

But how? How had he even found them so soon? And why was he after her? Hadn’t Williams made sure that Ella would not point her figners at them?

Her heart pounded as she pulled the hood of her jacket lower over her face. That bi*ch! She must have definitely double crossed her!

She had no ti. If not for her father’s call, warning her to leave the country imdiately, Dale might have already caught up to her. That thought sent a shiver down her spine.

To say she was afraid of him was an understatent.

Dale had always been terrifying, even when they were younger. She used to hate the way he stared at people, cold and unblinking, as if deciding whether they were worth his ti. Back then, she had chalked it up to arrogance. Now, she knew better. Now, she understood what he was capable of.

And now, he was after her.

Kimberlee’s grip tightened around her passport as she approached the immigration officer’s desk. She couldn’t afford to panic. She had to get out.

Who could have predicted that Aiden’s wife—Serena—would turn out to be Dale’s biological sister? It felt like so cruel twist of fate, one she had never seen coming. If things had gone as planned, Serena wouldn’t even be in the picture. She had only wanted to remove Serena from her path—to have Aiden for herself. She loved him, dam* it! And she had been the first in his life! What right did Serena have?

And now? Now she was being hunted by the devil himself.

She swallowed hard as she placed her passport on the officer’s desk, her fingers trembling slightly. A part of her, however small, wanted to believe that Dale wouldn’t actually harm her. After all, she had been his younger sister in all but blood once. He had even smiled at her—just once, but still.

But she knew better than to rely on sentint.

Kimberlee exhaled shakily and shook her head. Be what may. I can’t risk my life on the probability that Dale will rember our childhood.

Without another glance behind her, she forced herself forward. She had to survive this until daddy found a way to get rid of Dale. But this was not over for her. She would run away for now but she would definitely return when Dale was dead. She would have to return for Aiden and his love.

Finally, she had cleared all the security checks. As she stepped past the final barrier and into the boarding area, she let out a breath she hadn’t even realized she was holding. I made it.

She was finally safe.

Her flight was already boarding, and she wasted no ti making her way down the jet bridge. As soon as she stepped onto the plane, she was struck by a wave of distaste. Economy. The thought made her scowl.

Damn that woman.

If not for Williamathrowing her into this ss, she wouldn’t be here, forced to fly like a normal person instead of enjoying the luxury of business class. And now? She had to squeeze into a cramped seat, surrounded by noisy passengers and the stale sll of overused fabric.

Kimberlee muttered a curse under her breath as she dropped into her seat. The sooner this plane took off, the better. Soon, she would be far away from all of this—far from Dale, far from Serena, far from the nightmare her life had beco.

She closed her eyes as the plane’s engines roared to life. The familiar rumble beneath her feet signaled their departure, and for the first ti in days, she let herself believe it was over. She was leaving.

Safe.

Or so she thought. The mont she began to relax, a presence settled beside her, and a voice, smooth yet carrying an unmistakable edge, shattered her fragile sense of security.

"How are you doing, Kimberlee?"

Her eyes snapped open.

Her breath caught in her throat.

And there he was.

Dale.

Sitting right next to her.

Smiling.

Like the devil himself had all the ti in the world. She felt her breath catch as she looked at him in horror.

Her voice, when it ca out was a stutter as she looked at him and asked," Wh... What are you doing here?"
