Jiang Ruan was nibbling on a wafer, unable to hide the sweetness at the corners of her lips.
Is this the honeymoon phase of a new marriage?
Hmm... this feeling isn’t bad.
"By the way, Bao Ye proposed to you, and now it’s set in stone that you two are getting married. Has he taken you to et his mom yet?" Sister Qin was organizing so materials when she suddenly rembered this: "Although his mom isn’t a good person, always giving you a hard ti, she only has Bao Ye as her son. Unless she doesn’t want him anymore, as his nominal mother-in-law, she can’t just stand by while her son gets married, right?"
When Xu Yun was ntioned, Jiang Ruan showed no expression: "Not yet."
"Bao Ye doesn’t get along with her, and now they’re in a spat over so issues. I guess she doesn’t want to see either."
After finishing the biscuit, Jiang Ruan reached for a tissue to wipe her hands: "But Bao Ye said when he gets back, he’ll take to the Bo family’s old mansion, to the Bao Family Ancestral Hall, to et their ancestors and his grandfather, as that’s the Bo family tradition."
"Once that’s done, we should be registering our marriage."
Speaking of registering, Jiang Ruan’s little face couldn’t hide her happiness; the corners of her lips were almost reaching her ears.
With the little red book, she and Bao Ye would legally and rightfully be a married couple.
They would be family.
"Oh, oh, oh," Sister Qin sighed, "Look how happy you are."
"Ti flies by so fast. It feels like just yesterday when I last saw you as that pure and cute little girl, and today you’re about to get your marriage certificate and beco soone’s wife."
Sister Qin couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional.
Jiang Ruan also laughed: "It’s okay, even if I get married and register, I’ll still be your artist, and you’ll still be my agent."
Speaking of this, Sister Qin advised her: "No matter whether your husband has money or not, a woman must have her own career and not beco disconnected from society."
"Especially since Bao Ye cos from such a good family, there are so many won in Beijing eyeing him, practically lining up outside the city. You definitely can’t entertain the idea of just being a housewife, got it?"
Jiang Ruan agreed, nodding: "I know, I can’t sit still, I’ll die of boredom staying ho all day doing nothing. I have ambitions for a career."
"The revolution hasn’t succeeded yet; we still have to work hard."
Hearing this, Sister Qin relaxed: "It’s best if you think this way."
"Look at the rich wives in Beijing. Many are so happy when they first get married, showing off this and that today and tomorrow. Every day is just shopping and playing mahjong, but over ti it becos tedious. With nothing else to focus on, they end up just watching over their n every day, yet n hate that the most."
"As ti goes by, they get tired at ho, and outside are all these pretty young girls with sweet mouths. What man wouldn’t like to be praised and admired? Slowly, they stray and cheat."
"I’m not saying that Mr. Bao will turn bad and cheat in the future, don’t think like that. I really recognize Mr. Bao’s character," Sister Qin remarked. "I just want to say, won need to be self-reliant, self-loving, and resilient. Life is long, and who knows what might happen? What others have isn’t yours; only what you own is yours forever, got it?"
Facing Sister Qin’s earnest advice, Jiang Ruan nodded: "I understand, Sister Qin."
She sincerely said: "Thank you."
Jiang Ruan’s eyes were tender: "From the ti I started following you, you’ve really taught so many valuable lessons."
Sister Qin chuckled: "You’re indirectly calling nagging again. Can’t help it, getting older cos with wanting to share more of my experiences and lessons with you so you can avoid those situations."
"No," Jiang Ruan laughed, "I wasn’t saying you’re nagging. Every ti I talk with you about these topics, I learn a lot. Aside from you, no one else would talk to about these things."
These were words from the heart.
"Why does this sound so sentintal," Sister Qin looked at her warmly, grabbing her hand: "In my heart, our relationship has long surpassed that of agent and artist. I see you as my sister."
"Thank you," Jiang Ruan said sincerely.
Sister Qin patted her hand: "Don’t be so formal with ."
"Well, I guess you’re going to be quite busy soon, what with visiting the Bao Family Ancestral Hall with Bao Ye and getting the marriage certificate. I suppose you’ll need to arrange an engagent party first, right?"
Jiang Ruan nodded: "Yeah, Bao Ye and I talked it over, and we both like French style, so we’re planning to have an evening party at a hotel."
"Great."
Seeing Sister Qin looking a bit hesitant, Jiang Ruan directly asked: "Is there sothing on your mind, Sister Qin?"
