A broken heart could an many things, it could be betrayal, betrayal, or unrequited love. However, it could also be a sign of despair for the person one was in love with. It didn't have to be a lover, for sincere love also went to family mbers.
Zayne didn't know what the sign on his emblem ant, but he was ready for any challenge to pass the Chaos Trial.
"Well, I don't know what's in store for , but it looks like I'll have to make another choice this ti, and it will be much harder than the last one." Zayne muttered before heading towards the portal.
The red flas slowly consud him while hundreds of eyes were directed at him. Absolutely, everyone was wondering what was going to happen next as well as Zayne himself.
Edvin occasionally glanced at Marcus, he realized that the Fate Knights shouldn't have left here.
'Hmm... We might have to kill them, but it looks like Marcus has so sort of plan too. Otherwise, they would have hurriedly left here by now.'' Edvin internally muttered before turning to Fride.
"Do you need sothing?" Fride asked with a curious expression.
Edvin nodded slightly, "Be ready. After Zayne passes the third stage, we'll have to deal with the Fate Knights."
"Sure. I'll do whatever you ask." Fride nodded with a happy smile.
Karin watching this scene sighed, then a sly smirk appeared on her face, "You're going to kill them, aren't you?"
Edvin shrugged, "Most likely, however, considering one of them is Marcus, I can't say for sure. But... They certainly won't leave here knowing that Zayne is one of us. He's developing fast, but he shouldn't have to live in fear that a few Crusaders will find and kill him."
"I see... Well, I think we can deal with that. That's not what's most important right now." Edvin muttered, watching as Zayne walked through the portal.
Soon enough it disappeared, and a massive fla reappeared over the lake, through which it was possible to see where Zayne was and what was happening to him.
To Zayne's surprise, on his way to another place, sothing now appeared.
In the midst of the darkness, next to the white road leading forward, was an altar on which lay an amulet. The amulet was in the form of an hourglass with red sand inside.
'Hm? I'll only be able to use it temporarily? But, why is Chaos giving sothing like this? Zayne was puzzled, but he had no other choice anyway.
He took the amulet and headed towards the passage. As soon as he reached the end of the path, the hourglass inverted, and his entire body was covered in a thin red shell.
Whoooooooooooooosh.
Zayne found himself in the middle of a dark path in a place unknown to him. To his surprise, there were many sleeping wolves nearby, for so reason he appeared right next to their den.
One of the wolves who was patrolling the area headed straight in his direction. Zayne prepared for battle, quickly grabbing the hilt of his sword.
However, when the wolf ca right at him, sothing happened that Zayne couldn't have expected. The wolf simply lay down on the ground, curling up and slowly falling asleep.
Instead of this wolf, another wolf went on patrol, and it would continue like this all night.
Zayne looked at them puzzled for a while, then he glanced at his hands.
'I see... They can't see ... Chaos gave invisibility for a while, but why?' Zayne was puzzled as he looked around.
Nearby was the cave where the other wolves were, not far away was a very ordinary forest, and in the distance were several hills with sparse greenery. Beyond the hills was a mountain tall and massive with a snow-covered peak.
Zayne shrugged as he was about to head east. He needed to find the place where his Trial would take place. However, as soon as he took a few steps, the amulet around his neck shone brightly and pointed west, towards the hills.
'Hmm... This is definitely different from what happened before, but before the Chaos Trial, there was a petal that led here, so... Now I at least know which direction to go.' Zayne pondered with a slight nod before following the amulet.
He could only feel a slight breeze and sll from the occasional flowers.
'Well, I could be wrong, but it looks like I'm not in the Dark Lands right now, so that ans I'm in Empire territory, right?' Zayne pondered leaving the forest and moving towards the slope.
To his surprise, two people were sitting on the edge, a girl and a boy. They were huddled together and whispering about sothing.
"How beautiful... I'm glad we ca here..." The girl murmured, looking up at the starry sky, then she lowered her gaze, to the huge city in the distance.
The city was almost at the horizon and was covered in bright lights from the windows and many streets. Around the city were high walls with many towers, all to protect the most important place in the entire empire.
"Yeah, the capital is actually incredible at night, and in our parts, it's the best place to see everything properly!" The young man exclaid, obviously he was proud of himself.
The girl giggled, "You're right. I hope one day we can go there and get into so kind of academy! They say it's in the capital that you have the best chance of becoming a Fate Knight!"
The young man smiled, "Don't worry. We can definitely do it, but those are tasks for the future. Right now, we can just enjoy this beautiful view."
Whooooooooosh.
At the sa mont, thought a powerful stream of wind, and in the distance, a crimson gleam appeared beside the stone hills.
Then, above the hills appeared a huge magic circle around which floated several amber eyes covered with scarlet flas.
Everyone knew that it was Chaos Hearth.
'Damn... The Chaos Hearths I've seen before weren't that powerful... This is a whole different level, right?' Zayne internally muttered as fire appeared in his eyes.
Now he realized where he needed to go, it was extrely obvious.
"What is it...?" The girl said in disbelief, looking at the three amber eyes, "Wait... Is it really a Chaos Hearth...?"
"Yes!" The young man exclaid with a frightened expression, "Co on, we have to get out of here as fast as possible!"
The young man grabbed the girl's hand, and they quickly ran away. They passed next to Zayne, but because of the red shell, they couldn't see him.
These two weren't the only ones who decided to get as far away from Chaos Hearth as possible. Hundreds of beasts inhabiting this forest decided to do the sa.
Wolves, bears, foxes, and small rodents, all ran as far away as possible. They were doing everything they could to avoid being in the territory of the Chaos Hearth.
However, there was also one person in this forest who should have headed towards the Chaos Hearth instead of running away from it.
"Well, in a way it makes sense that it's the Chaos Hearth, but... Why do I get the feeling that Chaos has nothing to do with it?" Zayne frowned before heading towards Chaos Hearth.
'Valira was not created by Chaos Energy, nor were Snake Tree, Clort, and Lizards. All of those events actually happened in the world just like this one.'' Zayne pondered with a complicated expression.
He knew that there was a way to summon a Chaos Hearth. It required a special crystal, and the brilliance he saw could co from such a crystal.
'Hmm, I don't know what's going on here, but I can find out a little later. I need to get to the hills first.' Zayne internally muttered with a glance at the amulet. His invisibility would last for about thirty more minutes, and that was more than enough.
...
Step. Step. Step.
At the sa mont, a group of armored knights were heading towards Chaos Hearth. Ahead of them were three Fate Knights in blue armor, each wearing two stars on their shoulder pads.
Their leader was a man with short black hair, a nacing gaze, and an intimidating scar running across his face. A powerful aura emanated from him, and his white armor showed his status as well as his massive sword with a sharp blade.
Zayne, who was running down the slope, saw them from afar, and for a mont his eyes went wide.
'Crusader...? Hmm, considering how fast they got here, they knew that Chaos Hearth might appear here soon... Well, that's curious.'' Zayne stared at them before jumping down and speeding up.
He was sure that as long as he kept a certain distance, then no one would notice him.
"Damn, I used to be able to guess right away what the point of his test would be, but now I don't understand anything." Edvin muttered, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "This looks like an ordinary Tier Three Chaos Hearth that they knew about in advance."
"Yeah, they expected this to happen, but it wasn't Chaos that did it." Karin said calmly, "I'm pretty sure soone used a very powerful and spell-modified Chaos Crystal. Soone specifically summoned this particular Chaos Hearth, soone who has arcane knowledge and is well-versed in blood magic."
