I was just stretching my arms, she said quickly.
Nian Junting grunted in satisfaction and began munching on the corn. Nian Xi couldnt stand the sight of her brother, so she covered her eyes as she continued eating. She turned to see Jiang Yuning eat a siewmai bun with his chopsticks. He looked prim and proper. The bun looked delicious as he sank his teeth into little bites. Luosang noticed it, too. He looked like he had been brought up in a good environnt.
After finishing one bun, he went on to the next, and the next. He was only eating siewmai buns. Luosang said, Dont just eat siewmai. You can try the rest as well. Sister Lan cooks everything well.
Jiang Yuning continued eating as if he hadnt heard her. Nian Xi nudged him and said, My sister-in-law is talking to you. Shes telling you to try other things.
Jiang Yuning finally looked up and locked eyes with Luosang. He blinked a couple of tis before writing on his notepad, Thank you, sister-in-law.
Luosang nearly choked on her soymilk. She thought that it made her sound old whenever Nian Xi called her that. It was worse when he addressed her as, sister-in-law. She felt like a proper old auntie. It was ridiculous, as she was probably younger than all of them at the table. What was his relationship to Nian Xi anyway, for him to address her that way, too?
Nian Xi also noticed it, and her expression was grim. She is my sister-in-law, not yours. Why did you call her that?
