Qin Zhuzhu quickly rushed down the stairs. She flipped on the switch and went up to him, scanning him.
"Are you okay? You don’t look good," she said, concern evident in her voice.
"It’s nothing," he replied, though his face looked uncomfortable.
"Do you have a stomachache?"
Shentu Jing looked at her without saying a word. Qin Zhuzhu knew she had guessed right. But why did he have a stomachache? Could it be the hotpot?
If Shentu Jing couldn’t handle spicy food, why did he eat it?
"Wait a minute. I’ll get you so dicine," she said.
Qin Zhuzhu had beco familiar with the Shentu mansion after living there for over a month. She searched through the cupboards above the kitchen counter and found so pills.
"Here. Take these two pills," she hurriedly brought over the stomach dication.
"Thank you, Little Pearl" Shentu Jing took the pills from her palm, his cool fingertips lightly grazing hers, sending an electric shock that etched itself into her heart.
She quickly retracted her hand, curling her fingers into a fist while trying to calm her racing heart.
It was the middle of the night, and the man standing before her looked ethereally handso and stunning. Even though his face was pale as a ghost, he looked strikingly handso. It was hard not to misunderstand the situation.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t know you couldn’t eat spicy food. Why didn’t you say so?" Qin Zhuzhu watched him take his dication. Shentu Jing’s Adam’s apple moved seductively as he swallowed the pills with long gulps of water.
Qin Zhuzhu felt like soone had turned up the heat as she watched his throat move up and down. That long neck... She quickly turned her face away.
"I can learn," Shentu Jing said, putting the glass down and looking at her seriously.
He would learn to eat spicy food because of her? Qin Zhuzhu felt like she was influencing him to be like her, which wasn’t a good thing.
Shentu Jing reached out and gently turned her face back toward him.
Qin Zhuzhu felt like she wanted to dig a hole and bury her head sowhere. Why was he looking at her like this?! She wanted to run and cry.
"Little Pearl, I want to marry you," Shentu Jing suddenly said, his eyes serious.
His statent nearly scared Qin Zhuzhu into falling off her chair.
"Ah Jing... This... Why? Are you serious?" She beca nervous all of a sudden. His words were too shocking!
"I’m serious," he said, lifting her chin to make her eyes et his scorching gaze.
"But we don’t know each other well. Besides, there’s an agreent between us. Our relationship is fake," Qin Zhuzhu gently pushed his hand away.
"We can get to know each other better," ca his curt reply.
Qin Zhuzhu wondered what had gotten into Shentu Jing today. Did he really want to marry her? Sohow, she felt sothing holding her back. She couldn’t get married now, not after everything that had happened. Could it be that he misunderstood sothing? Or was he using his body to repay her for helping him with his insomnia? She decided to quickly draw a clear line between them.
This was getting out of hand!
"Ah Jing, I can’t marry you. I have sothing to do, and I have no true feelings for you. Marriage isn’t a ga. If your grandfather and father find out the real reason I’m with you, they’ll undoubtedly disagree," Qin Zhuzhu tried to reason with him.
"We can tell them. They won’t mind," he said.
"I’m a divorcee with a very bad reputation. Do you know what kind of person I am? Do you know my past?" Qin Zhuzhu hoped to scare him off, but he only smiled.
"I don’t care. The one I want to marry is the present you. I don’t care about anything else. I have a dark past too," his answer sounded overbearing and domineering. It seed like he was determined to marry her.
"Ah Jing, I have many things to accomplish. I... can’t be held back by marriage. I’m not ready. My heart’s not ready to accept another husband," Qin Zhuzhu rejected him.
She thought he would fly into a rage or do sothing crazy, but he only nodded and said calmly, "I understand."
"Ah Jing, I’m going to bed. Good night," Qin Zhuzhu said, relaxing a little as she hurried upstairs.
Shentu Jing watched her seemingly fragile figure vanish up the stairs, his gaze unfathomable.
---
The next morning, Qin Zhuzhu woke up to the sound of voices coming from the living room. She freshened up and went to see what the commotion was about.
SMASH! BANG!
Shentu Mingye knocked over a glass of orange juice, glaring furiously at his father.
"She’s my mother! Why did you suspect her?! She never betrayed the Shentu family!"
It seed Shentu Mingye had found out that his mother, Ning Ning, had been ruthlessly divorced by his own father.
"I have evidence! She may be your mother, but I’m your father as well! You are not allowed to leave," Shentu Dong argued with his son.
Shentu Mingye scoffed. "Are you imprisoning here? I’m telling you, it’s impossible!"
The servants and maids all had their heads lowered, kneeling on the floor in fear. Shentu Mingye had thrown a fit that morning, bullying them. They were terrified of the Little Master.
Qin Zhuzhu finally understood why everyone was afraid of the Little Master. Shentu Mingye was known for being spoiled, fussy, hard to please, and narcissistic. Despite being only eighteen years old, he was smart and resourceful.
"Well, you’re grounded," Shentu Dong said sternly, taking a deep breath.
Shentu Jing was reading sothing on his tablet, sitting on the couch with one leg crossed over the other, seemingly unaware of the fight happening in front of him.
"Second brother, aren’t you going to help ?" Shentu Mingye kicked his shoes.
However, Shentu Jing ignored him as if everything in front of him didn’t exist.
"Your second brother is too busy to bother about you," Shentu Chu said, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
Shentu Mingye sneered. "You two only care about yourselves! You never cared for ! All of you hate because I’m favored and loved! What good brothers are you!" His tone dripped with sarcasm.
Soone was taking pictures of them from above.
Hmm... The Shentu family will soon be turned to dust, the person smiled.
