"I investigated it all by myself. If you’re thinking I’m doing this to topple the Shentu family on behalf of the Qiaos, then I have to say you’re wrong. I have evidence and proof after seven years of studying it," Qiao ShenJi said in a hushed whisper, suddenly sounding secretive and dangerous at the sa ti.

He was challenging Shentu Jing, daring him to look into a past event that could possibly ruin him.

"If you don’t mind, I’d like to view your evidence and proof. I want to know whether your claim is valid," Shentu Jing said. He was up for the challenge. He never backed down from a challenge. The two n shook hands again, sealing an agreent—this ti without wrestling with each other’s hands.

"If you didn’t want to be looked down upon, why did you marry your wife?" Shentu Jing asked out of curiosity.

He had no idea that the Qiao family, a high-status, reputable family, would agree to such a thing. It was practically like getting slapped in the face by allowing their daughter to marry soone of low status. He had never heard of this matter before. Probably because the Qiao family wanted to keep it a secret, away from the public eye. It was a disgrace to have a man with no outstanding background marry into the family.

"Because I loved her. And she loved . So we decided to be together forever and ever, with nothing to pull us apart," Qiao ShenJi answered proudly. The love he described sounded like a fairytale, sothing Shentu Jing could never attain, no matter how much money he had.

Qiao ShenJi lifted his right hand and proudly showed him his wedding ring.

Still, there were quite a few people in the business circle connected to the Qiao family. They knew about the matrilocal husband matter, and many, including family mbers, poked fun at Qiao ShenJi. But he just shrugged and smiled it all away as if it were nothing.

The two n secured a deal. They shook hands and agreed to keep each other inford.

Shentu Jing found out that Qiao ShenJi wasn’t a spy or working for the Qiao family.

But that didn’t an he could relax and let his guard down around him. The guy looked sneaky and cunning. Not only that, he had managed to live with his wife without being forced into a divorce by the Qiao family—he had so ability.

Shentu Jing returned to his office and called Shentu Mingye.

"I need you to do sothing for ," he said sternly.

"Yeah, what is it, my sweetest brother?" Shentu Mingye said affectionately.

Shentu Jing cringed, even though they were miles apart. He could already imagine his younger brother’s irritating expression, smiling at him.

"Find out about a car accident that happened ten years ago—the people involved, hospital records, everything. Don’t miss anything out, not even a single detail," he warned. Shentu Jing needed more hands on the task, and no one was better suited for it than Shentu Mingye.

"Okay, sure. No need to get so murderous, geez. By the way, may I ask? What does the car accident have to do with the Qiao family?" Shentu Mingye asked.

"You were following ," Shentu Jing said, pausing to take a deep breath before continuing. "It has sothing to do with ."

Shentu Mingye was taken aback! His second brother was in a car accident? Why didn’t he know about that? He gripped the phone tighter and asked to be sure, "Were you injured? Are you okay? Do you need to see a doctor? I can send you to the hospital."

Shentu Jing slapped a hand across his forehead.

"I ant the car accident that happened ten years ago, you idiot!" he almost yelled, nearly throwing his phone in anger. Damn, why was Shentu Mingye so dumb?

"Oh, I see," Shentu Mingye said as realization dawned on him.

"I think there’s sothing fishy about this incident. I only rember that I was injured in it, not that I caused a car accident," he emphasized. He told Shentu Mingye about Qiao ShenJi’s claims.

"I’ll leave you to it. If you turn up with sothing, ssage . And don’t even think of setting foot back ho if you find nothing," he added wickedly and hung up before Shentu Mingye could say anything.

Shentu Mingye was shocked. That devil of a brother! He threatened him? He hung up on him? What kind of person in their right mind would do that? Oh wait, he almost forgot. Shentu Jing was a cunning and scheming devil in disguise.

He still hadn’t forgiven him for the prank he and Shentu Chu played on him that scared the hell out of him.
