Everyone was like on needles, waiting for Qiao Minde to speak up.
"As the largest shareholder in the Qiao Group, I approved of Chairman’s decision to select Miss Qiao Pulan as the new Chairwoman,"
The whole room beca like a zoo. They never expected Qiao Minde to support this decision! What the hell was going on?!
"She has no degree or experience!"
"She’s a shaless bitch who lives on streets with her husband! Look at her lowly salary and job!" One of her aunts berated her.
"All the directors agreed with decision. This cannot be changed. The eting is over," Qiao Minde said and walked towards the exit.
"She’s just a woman! How can you entrust the company to a re woman?! Are you stupid?! Or did she seduced or bribe you?!" Qiao Tan shouted at his back.
Pulan gasped in the background. They insulted her in her presence and had no sha about it! A bitch? Then what about they themselves? Aren’t they all wolves in sheep clothing, bastards in gentleman skin who pretend to be so kind, caring and generous?
How could they say that she seduced or bribe her brother? She wanted to scold them but ShenJi held her back, shaking his head. She had never felt so hurted in her life.
With the amount of conflicts going on, Pulan will only be sending herself into the fire. Her parents kept quiet all the while. They weren’t smiling, neither were they angry. It’s either they don’t care or they were very good at hiding their expressions.
"Qiao Tan, stop this at once!" The eldest brother turned to his second brother.
But Qiao Tan paid no heed to his brother’s words. Grandpa Qiao sat there patiently and calm, waiting for the ruckus to quiet down. He hardly spoke nor answered anyone’s question which only further agitated Qiao Tan.
Upon hearing that ridiculous accusations, Qiao Minde turned around and walked towards Qiao Tan. Every step of his seed to hamr fear into Qiao Tan’s eyes.
Those dark eyes were will the abyss staring back at him. His lips curved into a smile.
Qiao Nian swallowed. Pulan gripped ShenJi’s hand.
"What did you say? She...." Qiao Minde pointed to himself and at Pulan, "seduced and bribed ?"
"Then w...why her?" Qiao Tan asked, his body shook with rage as he tried to control himself from bursting out in front of everyone.
The old man kept silent, no one knew what he was thinking. No one what exactly is going on in that old brain of his for Grandpa Qiao was a very cunning and scheming man despite his old age. The old man sat in his comfy velvet armchair, a walking stick placed beside it for assistance on walking.
"Why!?" Qiao Tan’s voice vibrated throughout the room. Everyone quieted down waiting for the response of Qiao Minde or Grandpa Qiao. Grandpa Qiao looked up to et the eyes of his second son. Their gaze locked and for a second there, Pulan taught her grandfather would be in danger.
Suddenly, Qiao Minde gripped Qiao Tan by the throat!
"I approved Qiao Pulan because of her talents and skills. You all want to see whether she’s qualified to sit in this position? Sure! Tomorrow morning, co to the Qiao Group. I’ll be waiting for you,"
Then he released his grip on Qiao Tan’s neck, sending him into a coughing fit. Nobody dared to take an extra breath.
Finally the old man spoke up, "What’s wrong, my son? Are you not satisfied with everything I’ve given you? Pulan deserved to be the Chairman of the group. All the decisions will be made and decided by her. Do you not understand such simple orders?" The old man’s words held sheer mockery for his son, the son he was never proud of.
"Qiao Nai, Qiao Xiuyu and I should be the next head of the family! We are next in line, we are the best generation after you. We should have a fair competition to decide who’s qualified for the position, not simply pick anyone because you’re biased!" Qiao Tan walked passed Qiao Minde and hovered above his father in a threatening manner, fists clenched and teeth gritted.
"Qiao Nai, why don’t you do anything about your own daughter, huh?! Why aren’t you managing your own bitch!? You simply let her run around and do immoral things!" Qiao Tan turned to his brother Qiao Nai. Unfortunately, they had no reactions except for the micro flash of anger when he insulted and shad their daughter in front of their faces.
"You are biased! You stinky fucking old man! You have always treated unfairly! It’s a sha I called you father!" He turned to the old man when Qiao Nai didn’t response. It seems like everyone was ignoring him.
Probably because they didn’t want to get themselves into trouble. He spat those words at Grandpa Qiao. Grandpa Qiao’s deanor changed when those vulgar words fell out of his mouth. He stood up and faced his son.
"Treated you unfairly? I have given you everything a father could give. If I had continued to give and give you everything you demanded for, the outco would be worse than today. I would be doing you more harm than myself. I was the previous head of the family and chairman. My word goes. If I want a beggar to be the Chairman of the group, he will be. If I want a janitor or even a maid to be the Chairman of the group, they will be. How dare you question my orders!" Grandpa Qiao landed a resounding slap across his son’s face, stunning everyone including Qiao Tan.
Qiao Minde stood with his back facing them, no extra expression, no extra movents.
This was the first ti Pulan had saw her grandpa so angry. Usually, it always looked like he was weak or sick and he never shouted. She quickly rushed over to the old man.
"Grandpa, please," she said with begging eyes. Grandpa Qiao patted his granddaughter’s hand to reassure her.
Qiao Tan’s mouth hung open, still processing what has just happened. He rubbed his sore cheeks. The slap was really hard because Qiao Tan felt it vibrated throughout his entire body to his head.
"Get out of here! If you ever question my orders or Pulan’s abilities, you will leave this family and the group once and for all!"
