"Where are you going?" Sanya asked when she saw Qin Zhuzhu get up.
"To take a look upstairs," Qin Zhuzhu replied.
"Are you okay, Xiao Zhu?" Sanya asked worriedly, placing a hand on her shoulder and giving it a light squeeze.
"I’m okay. I just want so ti alone," Qin Zhuzhu said.
"Okay. If you need , just say the word. I’ll be by your side in a jiffy," Sanya assured her.
"Sure," Qin Zhuzhu said, picking up a glass of red wine and making her way upstairs. She approached Peixuan Ruxi, who was leaning on the railing, overlooking the bustling nightclub below.
"Brother Peixuan," she raised her glass to him.
"Sister-in-law," Peixuan Ruxi raised his glass in response.
Qin Zhuzhu downed the contents of her glass in one go. Peixuan Ruxi did the sa. A waitress ca to pour them another round.
"The rent for your apartnt is a bit expensive, and your salary hasn’t co in yet. Why don’t you move into one of my villas? It’ll be much safer. Don’t worry, I won’t be living there. I have so many houses," Peixuan Ruxi suddenly suggested.
Qin Zhuzhu looked at him, almost as if she were trying to read his mind.
"Thanks, but I prefer my cozy apartnt where Sanya can visit anyti. Your villas are probably guarded, and no one can enter at will. Or..." Qin Zhuzhu swirled the wine in her glass. "...you could let stay with you. That way, I won’t be alone mingling with unknown n," she said with a smile.
Peixuan Ruxi found her words a bit confusing. What did she an?
"That doesn’t sound like a good idea. You see, you’re already my second brother’s woman. How can I stay with his woman? His ghost might co after ," Peixuan Ruxi chuckled.
"You’re afraid of his ghost? You’ve hard many people, yet you have no fear," Qin Zhuzhu said lazily, propping her chin on her palm.
"Ah Jing’s ghost is terrifying! He died with many regrets, you know," Peixuan Ruxi waved his arms in the air to emphasize his point.
"For example?" Qin Zhuzhu struggled to figure out which version of Peixuan Ruxi was the real one. How co there are two of him?
"For example, if soone is seen with his beloved, that person will feel like they want to die. But when they try, they won’t die easily!" Peixuan Ruxi smiled at the charming, slightly drunk woman in front of him.
"For soone who lost his best friend, you don’t seem sad," Qin Zhuzhu eyed him suspiciously, her speech slurred.
"What’s the point of being sad? Being sad for one day is enough to mourn him. I can’t possibly be sad for the rest of my life! What about you? You don’t seem sad that your husband died," Peixuan Ruxi shot the question back at her.
"Sigh... Like you said, we can’t be sad our entire lives. And we’re not married. Don’t call him my husband," she warned, pointing a finger at his chest. However, a strange feeling stabbed at her chest when she said that, and she felt she was unable to breath.
"Legally, you’re not. But you two acted like a married couple. So, you’re already a couple in na. Seems like you’re going back to being a widow or divorcee. Sigh," he shook his head.
The world around Qin Zhuzhu suddenly beca blurry. How many glasses did I drink? The voices around her grew vague and faded into the background.
The next mont, she felt her world spin, and a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist.
"She’s drunk," Peixuan Ruxi said, looking over the dance floor.
The figure stood in the shadows, his hands tightly wrapped around the sleeping beauty’s waist, carrying her like a baby.
"I’ll keep an eye on Sanya and Shentu Mingye. If Shentu Chu finds out he’s here, it’s going to cause problems," Peixuan Ruxi said without glancing at the figure behind him. He only watched the two people arguing and scolding each other.
"Thanks," the figure said coldly before turning around with the beauty in his arms.
"Wait..." Peixuan Ruxi suddenly thought of sothing. The figure stopped in his tracks.
"You only have 24 hours," Peixuan Ruxi said, glancing at the figure’s back.
The figure nodded and carried Qin Zhuzhu away. He gently placed her in the back seat of the car and laid his coat over her.
"Drive," he ordered.
---
It was midnight when a black car arrived at a house. The mysterious figure carried the girl out and walked up the stairs.
He used his foot to push the door open and brought her into a bedroom. Then he gently laid her down on the bed, took off her high heels, and smoothed her hair.
He placed a blanket over her and headed toward the door.
"Mmm..." Qin Zhuzhu turned over and threw the blanket off.
He turned back and picked up the blanket.
"Shentu Jing, you big bastard..."
The figure froze. His fingers trembled slightly as he slowly looked at her face. Her eyes were still shut.
"Shentu Jing, you big fat liar. You promised to beat up those who bullied . Liar. Trickster. Scumbag. Pervert," Qin Zhuzhu mumbled in her sleep. She seed happy to curse him with every bad na she could think of.
But the man wasn’t happy—not at all! Scumbag? Pervert? What in the world???
"I’ll bring ho a handso man! Mom, take a look at this handso man! Let bring ho hundreds of n. Hihihi," she giggled mischievously, acting like a teenage girl in her dream.
She was having the ti of her life in her dreams. However, a certain soone was having the worst nightmare of his life. He threw the blanket aside.
How dare she say she’ll bring ho lots of n! The man couldn’t stand it anymore and pinched her slightly flushed cheeks.
"Ow! Mom, it hurts! He’s bullying !" she pouted.
"Of course, I’m bullying you, you heartless girl! How dare you think of other n?!"
But the heartless girl didn’t take him seriously at all. She slapped his hands away.
