All the directors, including Yue Zhi, left the office when they saw that the father and son were about to have a private discussion.

So of the directors wanted to join the eavesdropping club, but Yue Zhi pulled them away.

"Co on! Back to work! Everything will go on as usual!" Yue Zhi chased the gossiping employees away.

One of the directors approached him with a worried expression.

"Brother Yue, this is a ss. From what I see, this will escalate into a bigger issue, and rival companies might take advantage of it. We need to stabilize the company—no delays!"

Yue Zhi looked at the third director for a mont. The third director was known for being scrupulous and cunning. He could already tell what’s on this cunning old fox’s mind.

"Why don’t you take charge of this matter? Why are you asking ? Do you still need my permission for everything you do behind my back?" Yue Zhi said sarcastically.

"Heh heh heh, I don’t an that. I just have to take Brother Yue’s feelings into consideration, right?" The third director laughed awkwardly.

Yue Zhi ignored him. This type of person, who followed wherever the wind blew, wasn’t worth his attention.

Hearing no response from Yue Zhi, the third director spoke again, "Why don’t we let the new CEO co up with so asures to stabilize the company and show his abilities?"

Yue Zhi knew the third director wanted him to do the talking with Shentu Chu. He didn’t dare to speak up himself, afraid of getting into trouble.

What a bunch of old sly foxes!

He knew the third director wouldn’t stop pestering him. To shake him off, Yue Zhi glared at him and said, "The new CEO will hold a eting. You can bring it up there."

Then Yue Zhi walked away. Once everyone had returned to their duties, Yue Zhi went back to his office and looked up at the ceiling.

He sighed. "Things will never be the sa again. Shentu Jing, if you can hear from heaven, I’m sorry. I’ve let you down."

Shentu Dong glared at his son angrily, fists clenched. In all his life, he had never expected Shentu Chu to be the one to steal this position!

He had raised him and given him everything he could—the position of second-in-command, the COO role. He thought it would be enough, but he was wrong.

"Chu’er, do you know what you’re doing? When did you take over the company? Behind my back? How did you...?" Shentu Dong asked, despite already knowing the truth.

He stopped his questioning when he saw the laid-back look on Shentu Chu’s face. It was obvious he wasn’t going to get answers today.

"Father, why don’t you return ho and rest? You can leave the company to ," Shentu Chu said as if nothing had happened.

"And leave the company to you? Chu’er, do you think I’m so old that I’ve beco muddle-headed? What else do you want?"

Shentu Chu looked at his father intently, as if trying to morize the wrinkles and aging lines on his face.

"I want a lot more, Father. Things you’ve never given before. Things you only gave to Second Brother. Am I wrong to want these things?" he asked, fiddling with a keychain he found on the desk.

"No, you’re wrong to steal them from your brother! If this greed of yours becos insatiable, who knows? One day, I might be forced to give up my chairman position to you!" With that, Shentu Dong turned and stord out of the office.

"What happened in there?" one female staff mber whispered to her friend.

"I don’t know. But judging by the chairman’s expression, I think the new CEO angered him," her friend replied.

Shentu Chu glanced at his watch. Ti was tight. A few minutes later, he left his office. The employees quickly fell silent and straightened their backs as he walked past them.

Shentu Chu strolled the streets, deep in thought. He stopped at an ice cream stall and bought a boba milk tea popsicle.

His watch beeped. Shentu Chu pressed a button, and a voice ca through.

"We found Shentu Mingye. He’s living in one of the villas his mother bought for him."

"Good. Make sure he stays there. If he goes out, follow him. I want to know what information he has on ."

"Sir, but how do you know he has sothing on you?" his man asked, confused.

"As long as one has money, they can do anything, including knowing things they’re not supposed to. Don’t ask too much. It’s better if you know less. Just do as I say."

"Yes, sir!" There was another beep, and the call disconnected.

Shentu Chu’s watch looked like an ordinary one, but it was, in fact, a very special device created secretly by the Shentu Group. Only a few people knew about it.

At that mont, Shentu Chu thought about what he had said.

FLASHBACK.

"Once you take over the company, stabilize it quickly. No matter what you do, follow procedures and demonstrate your abilities to those sly foxes."

"Then what about you?" Shentu Chu asked.

"I’ll act on my own."

Suddenly, Shentu Chu was pulled out of his mories when he saw Qin Zhuzhu standing in front of him, blocking his path.

Under the sunlight, Qin Zhuzhu looked like a gloomy angel who had descended. Her eyes held no emotion or visible expression, and her hair swayed gently as the morning breeze blew across the city of Shengjing.

"Sister-in-law?" Shentu Chu approached her.

Qin Zhuzhu didn’t bother to correct him for calling her "sister-in-law." She didn’t know why she felt this way when the news of his death reached her. All she knew was that she cared deeply about him.

"Is it true?"

"Huh?" Shentu Chu looked puzzled.

Qin Zhuzhu stepped closer to him. Her eyes seed dark and lifeless.

"Is it true that he’s gone?"

Shentu Chu nodded slowly.

"Did you kill him?"
