Shentu Jing would have liked to stay with Qin Zhuzhu in her apartnt longer, but Luo Yue called him to the office.
"I need to go. Have a good night. If you need anything, let know," he said.
"Alright. Thanks," Qin Zhuzhu replied.
She watched as he shut the door. Sowhere in her mind, she felt empty again after he left. She sighed, massaging her head. What was going on with her? Shentu Jing must have really corrupted her mind.
A few minutes later, she texted Xu ng as she had told him. She had almost forgotten about Xu ng. She saw that her last ssages to him were all marked with one tick—ignored and unread. Until today. He had opened her ssages for the first ti.
In the past, she would have felt inexplicable joy when he read her ssages, but now those feelings were gone. Qin Zhuzhu didn’t care about it anymore.
Ping!
[You have received two billion yuan in your account number ending with xxxx]
She saw that he had really sent two billion yuan to her account. Huh, where did he get such a large amount of money? Last ti, he had been very reluctant to return her money.
Shentu Jing was really powerful! He must have forced Xu ng or threatened him until the latter beca humble and anxious.
Xu ng scrolled through her old ssages, absorbing them. His face underwent several transformations before returning to its usual self. Had she really loved him that much in the past? He had always thought that she wanted sothing from his family.
The sweet words stung his eyes. She used to address him as "darling," "honey," "sweetie," and "hubby."
Her old ssages were filled with love and care for him, like a good housewife. Xu ng’s feelings beca sour, bitter, and sweet, then back to normal.
He had thought that she took advantage of his grandfather’s illness to inherit sothing from the Xu family. If it hadn’t been for that lawsuit and mistake in the past, the Xu family would have been among the top families in Shengjing.
Xu ng took the opportunity to chat with his ex-wife. Surprisingly, she replied.
Unknowingly, they had a good chat. Although Qin Zhuzhu didn’t want to have anything to do with him and wanted to end the chat as soon as possible, Xu ng continued to chat with her. She thought it would be rude to ignore him, so she replied.
Qin Zhuzhu: I’m tired. See you next ti.
She only said "next ti." Who knew when "next ti" would be?
Xu ng: Good night.
She shut off her phone. That night, all she dread about was Shentu Jing. Sohow, mysteriously, he took over her dreams for the first ti.
In her dreams, they were holding hands. They seed like a married couple. There was a priest not far from them. Her mother was watching her, sniffling happily.
Shentu Jing was really too charming in the dream. His eyes sparkled as he said sothing incoherently to her. Qin Zhuzhu couldn’t see herself. Suddenly, Shentu Jing was pulled away from her. She tried to grab his outstretched fingers, but they slipped out of her grip.
She cried and watched as Shentu Jing was taken away from her. It felt as if she had lost soone very important.
Soon, she was transported back to a scene that was hidden in the back of her mind. Fire. Fire everywhere. The air slled of burnt skin and smoke. Cars were overturned, and a tanker was spilling oil. The fus of petroleum filled the air, making it unbearable.
Qin Zhuzhu was suffocating, coughing violently. She stared down at her hands. They were quite tiny, like a child’s.
Where was she? What was this? This seed like the accident that had happened ten years ago when she was on her way to visit her grandfather in the hospital.
Soone cried in pain behind her. She quickly turned and watched, eyes wide in horror, as a woman was burnt to pieces in front of her eyes.
The woman was calling her na.
"Xiao Zhu! Run! Xiao Zhu! Quickly run! Don’t let them catch you!"
The woman’s eyes were familiar. She couldn’t rember where she had seen this woman.
How did she know her na?
Then her attention was diverted by sothing in the wreckage. It was a boy, a young teenager. Blood was trickling down his forehead.
She quickly pulled him out and sang him a song to calm him down. The boy started to call for his mother. His eyes looked up at her. A strange wave of familiarity hit her. There was yet another strange sense of happiness when she gazed into the boy’s eyes. Dark, mysterious, like peach blossoms, yet gentle and tender.
Suddenly, there was another voice behind her. Her mind was going hectic and crazy. It was all very confusing.
Another boy was calling her na.
"You need to run, hide, or pretend that you know nothing. Do you understand?!" The boy was older than the one in the crash. He took Qin Zhuzhu by the shoulders and shook her hard.
"W-who are you?" she stuttered. This boy also looked familiar. Why did everyone here look and feel familiar, as if she knew them? Her world spun in circles, as if she were in a washing machine.
"Run!" His eyes were empty! No eyeballs! Just empty sockets staring at her.
"Quickly run!" the woman from earlier cried.
"They want to kill your grandfather!"
"Hide, quick! Don’t let them catch you!"
Her head felt like it was exploding, a thousand ants gnawing at her skull. Qin Zhuzhu gripped the sides of her head, trying to shake the noises out.
"Stop it! Who are you!?" she cried and scread. The boy whom she had saved in the crash had disappeared like an angel.
"What do you an?! What do you an by killing Grandpa!?"
A loud, bloodcurdling scream was heard, and her eyes shot open.
When Qin Zhuzhu woke up, she found herself trembling and sweating profusely. There were even tears sliding down her cheeks. What was going on? It had seed so real.
