In a desert within the kingdom of Fiore, the entire land was covered by endless yellow sand.

As far as the eye could see, the desert was desolate, with no vegetation in sight.

A slight breeze would stir up countless sandstorms.

Yet, in this barren, sand-filled wasteland, three figures were still pushing forward, braving the wind and sand.

"It's been two weeks since that incident, and the atmosphere in the guild is still so heavy," Droy, a mber of the Shadow Gear team, muttered helplessly.

"It's no wonder everyone feels this way. Even now, I still can't quite believe it. Noel actually..." Jet, another mber of the Shadow Gear team, added.

"Alright, let's not talk about it anymore. The atmosphere in the guild is already down enough. We shouldn't carry that emotion into the mission," Levy reminded them.

"Yes." x2

"I understand how you both feel," Levy sighed.

For a mont, she didn't know what to say.

Even she shared the sa thoughts.

The Tower of Heaven incident had passed two weeks ago, but its aftermath was still lingering.

The deaths of two of the Ten Saints, the failed launch of Eitherion, and all the bla placed on the Council had caused their already diminished reputation to plumt further, leading to the collective resignation of the Council.

But none of this mattered to the Fairy Tail guild.

For Fairy Tail, the real blow was Noel's death.

Fairy Tail was not just a guild; it was a family.

However, even within a family, the relationships among its mbers were different, and Noel was a very special one to the entire guild.

The handso face carried a touch of heroism, with the corners of his mouth always curved in a gentle smile.

His personality was tolerant, rarely losing his temper.

He always tried his best to help others when they asked, and during missions, he gave off a reliable impression.

Even soone as proud as Laxus or as solitary as Mystogan had a solid friendship with Noel, not to ntion others.

Therefore, Noel's death was a massive blow to the rest of the guild.

"If we're talking about it, the ones hit hardest were probably Erza and Mira... and Lucy was also deeply affected," Levy recalled the ti when Mira had passed out upon hearing the news, Erza had acted like a walking corpse, unresponsive to anyone speaking to her, and Lucy had beco so depressed that she refused to do any more missions or even continue writing in her book.

Mira and Erza shared a special bond with Noel, sothing that was known to nearly everyone in the guild, except for Noel himself, who was unaware of it.

As for Lucy...

(Could Lucy also... feel sothing for Noel?) Levy suddenly had a strange thought in her mind.

"Anyway, let's focus on finishing the mission first," Jet spoke up.

"Yeah, let think. The task is to investigate why this plain has turned into a desert in such a short ti, and why the desert's range is still expanding, and then resolve it, right?" Droy said after thinking for a mont.

"Yes, based on the information provided by the villagers, this plain used to be a very fertile land. However, just over a week ago, it suddenly beca an extrely desolate place, and even..." Levy bent down and scooped up so sand, watching it slip through her fingers, "There isn't even a single plant. This is an extrely abnormal situation. Even the most barren deserts can't be completely devoid of life. The only thing that cos to mind is that soone might have used so kind of dark magic to cause all this."

"Levy, look over there!" Jet suddenly shouted, as if he had noticed sothing, pointing in a direction.

Levy and Droy followed his gaze, and they couldn't help but let out an exclamation.

"Wh-What is that?"

What the three mbers of the Shadow Gear Squad saw was a palace, a pure white palace without a single flaw.

The entire palace was seamless, with no visible stone cracks or seams, making it look like it wasn't built at all.

It was magnificent and grand, creating a stark contrast against the surrounding barren desert.

"This is very unusual," Levy quickly regained her composure after the brief surprise.

"The information the village gave us didn't ntion the existence of this palace. It's suspicious. This palace might be connected to the desertification of this plain, or perhaps it is the very cause of it."

Droy and Jet nodded in agreent.

They had executed many missions before and were experienced mages, so they quickly understood that the existence of this palace was indeed questionable.

"Be careful when approaching, don't alarm anyone," Levy advised.

--------------

"We've already checked, and the entire palace has only one door. All the other windows are sealed. It looks like the only way to enter is through this door," Levy said, standing before the only door to the palace, her expression serious after walking around the entire structure.

"That ans there's no way to avoid being detected," Jet said, rubbing his head in frustration.

"At this point, we can only do our best," Levy replied.

"Mm."

After a brief hesitation, Levy chose to push open the door.

The door wasn't locked, and with just a bit of force, it opened.

However, the scene that greeted them once the door opened left the mbers of the Shadow Gear squad completely stunned.

Silver moonlit hair was left unkempt, flowing freely.

One purple and one blue eye were filled only with boundless coldness and arrogance.

Four large wings fluttered slowly behind them, and they wore a silver-white robe with blue lines tracing mysterious patterns.

The figure sat proudly on the throne at the top of the palace, giving the first impression of an emperor who could not be desecrated.

But what surprised the three of them was not this appearance, but the face—though the hair color, eye color, and aura were completely different, it was undoubtedly...

"Noel!!" x3

"Who are you?" Nord asked coldly, looking at the three who entered.

"Noel, how are you here, and why do you look like this?" Levy was the first to speak.

"Noel? I see... you are mbers of the organization that the other joined, aren't you?" Nord's expression shifted slightly, but his tone remained as emotionless as ever.

Although the Shadow Gear squad found Nord's strange vocabulary and speaking style very odd, they didn't pay attention to it, as they were too relieved to see that Noel was fine.

"What are you doing here, Noel? Everyone at the guild is really worried about you."

"Yeah, Noel, Mira and Erza are so upset that they locked themselves in their rooms and haven't co out."

"Co back with us, Noel, everyone will be so happy to see you!"

Sitting on the throne, Nord suddenly spoke, interrupting their words, a cold smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

"You ants are so botherso... so, die."

Golden divine power transford into countless sharp blades, extending from Nord's body and aiming directly at the stunned Levy and the others.

Just as the golden blades were about to strike them, a soft shout suddenly rang out from outside the palace, "[God-slayer Magic – Guardian of the Celestial God]."

A white vortex appeared, temporarily blocking the golden blades sent by Nord.

"Hurry, hurry up and go," a black-haired boy appeared before Levy and the others, spreading his arms to embrace them. "[God-slayer Magic – Speed of the Celestial God]."

With a loud bang, Levy, the others, and the black-haired boy vanished from the palace.

The white vortex was shattered by the golden blades the next second.

"God-slayer Magic, daring to use the na of God-slayer, how interesting,"

Nord's expression remained cold, with no intention of pursuing them.

Instead, he withdrew his golden divine power and sat back on the throne, closing his eyes to rest.
