Carrying Zeref on her back, Ultear moved swiftly through the forest, her light and almost cheerful footsteps echoing clearly even in the pouring rain.

Feeling the weight of Zeref on her shoulders, Ultear could hardly contain the excitent bubbling in her heart.

Whether it was luck or skill, the outco was undeniable—there was no scenario more perfect than this.

Not only had she successfully captured Zeref, but she had also managed to shake off Noel Rutherford's pursuit.

Just monts ago, she had even manipulated Gray, sending him to clash head-on with Hades.

Whether Gray ultimately used Iced Shell to take Hades down with him or not, it didn't matter.

In the end, Ultear was the undisputed victor.

"Now, all that's left is to leave here with Zeref. As long as I avoid those troubleso individuals, victory is mine. Zeref belongs to ," Ultear silently declared to herself, quickening her pace.

As she erged from the dense forest, a familiar figure ca into view.

"redy."

Ultear's expression flickered with surprise as she gazed at the small figure sitting under a rock, sheltering from the rain—one of the Seven Kin of Purgatory, redy.

"Ul... Ultear!"

Seeing Ultear walking toward her, redy's face lit up with surprise and joy.

She quickly stood up and rushed forward, her gaze falling upon the unconscious figure slung over Ultear's shoulder.

With a mixture of shock and doubt in her voice, she asked, "Could this be...?"

"It is," Ultear affird with a nod. She loosened her grip, letting Zeref drop unceremoniously to the ground, then turned to redy and said, "This is Zeref. The plan has changed—we need to leave this island imdiately."

redy hesitated for a mont before responding, "But I haven't found Gray yet."

"You can forget about him," Ultear cut her off.

"Huh?" redy looked at her in confusion.

Ultear smiled faintly.

Seeing that redy still didn't understand, she softly explained how she had manipulated Gray into challenging Hades.

By the ti she finished recounting the events, even Ultear herself couldn't suppress the amusent curling at the corners of her lips.

"Gray is no longer our enemy—he's our pawn now... Tell , would any normal person fall for such a ridiculously crude story? Hahaha! If all goes as planned, both Hades and Gray will be eliminated at the sa ti. There's nothing more perfect than that!"

"Even Master Hades? Why?"

Hearing redy's question, Ultear let out a light chuckle.

She spread her arms wide and said, "That way, Zeref will belong to us alone."

"Are you planning to deceive Master Hades?"

"Whether it's Gray or Hades..." Ultear raised her hand, as if holding sothing between her fingertips, and with a slightly fanatical expression, she replied, "Everyone is nothing more than a pawn in my hands. I won't let anyone take Zeref—he belongs to alone!"

"Oh dear, how careless of ."

Suddenly, Ultear's fervent expression faded, and she tapped her forehead with a troubled look.

"I really placed too much expectation on Gray. If things go too smoothly, it's almost boring. But at the very least, he should serve as a good distraction for Hades. Before he turns his attention to us, we need to leave imdiately."

"Understood," redy responded, hoisting Zeref onto her back.

"Eh?"

Just then, Ultear's gaze fell upon a blue-haired girl lying on the ground.

She frowned and asked, "Who is this woman?"

Noticing Ultear's question, redy quickly answered, "It's Juvia. She's Gray's friend."

Ultear was slightly stunned for a mont as she looked at Juvia, who was lying unconscious on the ground.

A cruel, cold smile appeared on her lips.

Suddenly, a long sword materialized in her previously empty hand.

Twisting her wrist, she moved the blade to Juvia's neck.

Seeing Ultear's actions, redy asked urgently, "What are you doing?"

"Obviously, I'm going to kill her."

"But... but..."

redy's lips trembled as she tried to say sothing.

Their previous battle had allowed her to witness Juvia's unwavering devotion to Gray—sothing that, in a way, mirrored her own devotion to Ultear.

In that fleeting mont, redy seed to understand sothing.

Deep down, she didn't want Juvia to die here.

"No!" Ultear forcefully cut off redy's hesitation.

Raising her sword high, she spoke with undisguised hatred, "Gray must not see even a glimpse of hope for the future. He will either die at Hades' hands or perish using Iced Shell! Even if he sohow manages to survive, he must suffer the pain of losing his comrades!"

In redy's horrified gaze, Ultear's sword slashed downward rcilessly toward Juvia.

At that critical mont, a sudden burst of ice appeared, blocking the descending blade.

Amidst the shattering ice shards, a figure flashed by, snatching Juvia away.

"Gray!" redy called out the newcor's na.

Amid the shattered ice and snow, Gray appeared clearly, holding Juvia in his arms.

His dark eyes reflected both relief and an expression that showed he had expected this outco.

Looking at Ultear and redy, who was carrying Zeref on her back, Gray spoke, "I knew it would be like this."

"Oh my, what a surprise." Hearing Gray's quiet words, Ultear asked in a relaxed tone, "When did you start suspecting ?"

"I never believed a single word you said from the very beginning."

"I see." Ultear's voice gradually softened, but in contrast, her expression grew colder.

"Pretending to trust just to uncover my true intentions... What a bad boy you are."

Gray slowly placed Juvia on the ground.

Rising from his half-crouched position, he looked firmly at Ultear and declared, "I've decided—I will never use that magic again. No matter what Ur will was, I will follow my own. I want to walk a path where I can live together with my comrades!"

"Oh my, oh my. It seems you're not just a goody-two-shoes after all." Ultear's eyes finally darkened as she slowly walked toward the wary Gray.

"I originally thought that if I were lucky, I could even take down Hades as well. Honestly, I never wanted to fight you, because... you are the beloved disciple of that woman, aren't you?"

Ultear's steps ca to a halt once again.

A chilling mix of hatred and madness surfaced on her face as she stared at Gray, her voice lowering into a sinister tone.

"That just makes all the more eager to kill you in the cruelest way possible!"

Facing Ultear, who was now radiating pure killing intent, Gray stood his ground, his gaze unwavering.

"Bring it on, you wicked woman! I'll teach you a lesson on behalf of your mother!"

"Heh, it seems you've misunderstood sothing very important." Ultear's magic surged wildly as she raised her hands, looking down at Gray with arrogance.

"I am the leader of the Seven Kin of Purgatory. Soone like you isn't even qualified to be my opponent—"

BAM!

Before she could finish her sentence, a fist wrapped in ice had already appeared right in front of her and struck her body with trendous force, sending her flying.

—That was Gray's response to her.
