The massive cat-shaped Magic Crystal slowly fell to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

The soldiers of the royal palace stood in stunned silence, staring at the crystal before them.

Their minds seed to freeze montarily.

"The Exceed... turned into a Magic Crystal?!"

"They actually went through with it... Will this really be okay?"

The soldiers murmured among themselves.

Discontent toward the Exceed had long simred among the people of Edolas, but few had ever dared to openly resist.

Now that the king had taken action, many felt a surge of satisfaction deep in their hearts.

Yet, beneath that fleeting sense of triumph, an overwhelming unease crept in.

The oppressive presence of the Exceed, built up over generations, weighed on them like a massive boulder.

"There are no Gods in this world!"

A sudden, aged yet firm voice rang out, instantly drawing everyone's attention.

Only then did they realize that, at so point, King Faust of Edolas had stepped onto a balcony.

With his arms outstretched, he began speaking loudly, his voice echoing across the palace grounds.

"We humans have suffered under the tornt of limited magic, while the Exceed have indulged in boundless magical power. Why? Why should we not take for ourselves this limitless magic that lies within our grasp? The era of subjugation is over! Everything we do is for the future of humanity—to forge a prosperous, magical society! My soldiers, rise up and fight! Code ETD—Exceed Annihilation Plan! Launch the Angel Eradication Initiative!"

"Roar!!"

The mont the king's speech ended, the soldiers' lingering unease vanished in an instant.

A feverish fervor overtook them as they raised their fists and let out thunderous cries of excitent.

"This has really turned into a huge ss now."

"There's no longer a clear distinction between right and wrong."

"So the military buildup... was for this purpose all along?"

The captains of the kingdom's Magic Warfare Division watched the scene unfold, each lost in their own thoughts, remaining silent.

In midair—

"Humans are such easily swayed creatures, don't you think? The other from Earthland?"

Floating in the sky, Edolas Noel gazed down at the soldiers below, speaking softly to himself. "Just a few words of persuasion, a few empty promises, and they're willing to throw their lives away. How utterly ridiculous."

Noel did not respond—he simply watched in silence.

Edolas Noel didn't seem to expect an answer.

He continued speaking, as if to himself. "These foolish people... They are powerless to resist this world, so they place their hopes in others. But what they fail to understand is that relying on others only leads to disappointnt and pain."

For a brief mont, a nostalgic expression flickered across Edolas Noel face, but it quickly vanished, replaced by cold indifference. "And that is precisely why I trust only in my own strength. I believe in no one but myself."

"You're thinking in extres," Noel sighed. "No one in this world can survive relying solely on themselves. And not everyone harbors ill intentions."

"No matter the circumstances, the only one who will never betray you... is yourself."

Noel shook his head helplessly, knowing that no amount of words would change anything.

.................

anwhile, at the Western Tower—

Lucy, Carla, and Happy were making their way through a long corridor, stealthily heading toward the depths of the tower.

"This feels like a major disaster in the making..."

"I never expected a war to break out between humans and the Exceed."

Listening to Lucy and Happy's words, Carla kept moving forward with an expressionless face and replied, "This has nothing to do with us. Let them do whatever they want."

As they hurried along, none of them noticed a bat clinging to the ceiling, its eyes glowing strangely as it stared at them with a vacant, trance-like gaze.

Boom!

A sudden loud noise echoed through the corridor as a spear shot out of nowhere, embedding itself deep into the ground in front of them.

The impact sent a violent tremor through the floor, leaving behind a massive crater that blocked their path.

Startled, the three looked ahead and saw two girls leading a squad of royal palace soldiers.

One had long, crimson-red hair—the captain of Edolas' Second Magic Warfare Division, Erza Knightwalker.

The other was a blue-haired girl nad Ophelia.

"We've found you," Ophelia said quietly.

Erza took a slow step forward. "You won't take another step from here."

"H-How?! How did you even know we were here?!" Lucy and the others stared in shock.

"It's all thanks to Lady Ophelia's assistance. This is where it ends."

Erza smirked coldly.

The Ten Commandnts Spear, still embedded in the ground, suddenly radiated an eerie light.

A surge of energy erupted from it, blasting Lucy, Carla, and Happy into the air.

"Oh? You actually survived a direct hit from my magic? Impressive... but this is where it ends."

Erza's face showed a hint of disdain as she pulled the Ten Commandnts Spear from the ground and slowly walked toward Lucy.

Raising the spear, she aid directly at Lucy's head.

"I haven't received any orders to take you alive. So, I'll end it here."

"Ah—!"

Just as Erza's spear was about to strike, Happy suddenly lunged forward with all his strength, using the montum to slam into Erza and send her crashing into the wall.

The Ten Commandnts Spear slipped from her grasp, hitting the ground with a boom, causing an explosion that shattered the floor.

Caught off guard, Lucy, Happy, and Carla plumted through the newly ford hole, disappearing into the depths below.

"They escaped again," Ophelia said softly.

"Damn it," Edolas Erza let out a cold snort, her expression darkening as she stared at the gaping hole in the ground.

Strictly speaking, the only reason they managed to escape was because she had been too careless. "Lady Ophelia, I'll have to trouble you again."

Ophelia shrugged. "Things aren't looking great. There aren't many creatures in this prison that I can use as a 'viewpoint.'"

"So?"

"But there's no need to worry too much. Now that they've fled here, it's easy to guess what their goal is." Ophelia spoke with an indifferent tone.

Erza was montarily taken aback, but then realization dawned upon her.

Her expression shifted as she understood, "You an... they're trying to rescue those two Dragon Slayers?"

"Exactly. Now that we know their objective, even without a suitable 'viewpoint,' capturing those rats won't be too difficult. But we must act quickly—there are still more troubleso invaders from Earthland who haven't arrived yet.

"The ga of cat and mouse is fun, but if played too long, you might get burned. And I don't care for such foolishness," Ophelia said as she turned to leave, her pupils shimring with a mysterious light.
