"Maria..."

"I'm still talking." Maria snapped harshly at Eunice while maintaining a calm deanor. "I am not the type of woman to instigate conflict or radicle a fellow human being. But every cat has its breaking point. Do not push to bare my claws on your family. I respect your husband a lot, hence this eting. Do not overstep your boundaries."

"Maria, please, Tina is miserable. All she talks about is Blaze. I know I am acting shaless right now. But honestly, I do not care as long as it involves my child's happiness. Please, just give her one more chance to write her wrong. That is all she asks."

Maria scoffed, chuckling.

"I have forgiven her long ago. I bear no grudge against her. I wish her well in her future endeavours as long as it has nothing to do with my son."

"But it's your son she wants and no other." Eunice reached out to touch Maria's hand resting on the table but the latter quickly withdrew her hands.

"That ship has long sailed or haven't you heard. My son is happily married to the most beautiful girl in the entire world." Maria said with an air of pride as she ntally pictured Alia's pretty face.

"No... It can't be." Eunice placed her right hand on her pounding chest, staring at Maria with a mixture of alarm and disbelief.

Maria leaned closer, resting her elbow on the table as she spoke more seriously.

"Be sensible enough, Eunice, to know when you are no longer wanted. Move on with your life just as I and my son have done. I only have one child and his happiness ans everything to in this world. Tell your daughter to respect herself and stay the hell away from him. If she does anything to cause my family trouble, especially my son's wife, I will make sure she remains miserable for the rest of her pathetic life. Take this as a friendly warning and have a nice day."

Maria pushed her chair backwards and stood up, ignoring Eunice's earnest pleas which were beginning to attract attention. She spoke briefly to the manager, before leaving the tea parlour with a takeaway pack.

While Blaze prepared for his grandparents' arrival by the weekend, moving up his work schedule, to create more free ti for Friday and the entire weekend, Alia focused her attention on her own work.

The entire Monday passed by like a breeze, with Blaze and Alia hardly crossing paths except for the evening when they both retired for the night. But even at night, Blaze hardly slept for more than three hours. He was always on his computer working tirelessly on a new project.

Alia didn't hear anything from Tina, even though she was expecting the latter to create an internet scene after the confrontation at the coffee shop. She didn't know what Blaze said to Tina even after he confessed to gently persuading her to leave that night. But she was grateful for the peace and quiet in her life.

Monday almost ended like a normal boring day until Alia received a call from her stepmother inviting her to a secret birthday party in honor of her father at the mansion.

Regina went as far as asking her to co with her plus one.

Although Alia was skeptical about attending the party, she agreed to show up for the sake of her father. She knew her stepmother was up to one of her dirty gas but so was she. With Blaze by her side, she was ready to drop the cheese before the hungry mice and watch them tear themselves apart.

By the following day, Alia woke up only to realize that Blaze had already left for the office without even taking breakfast. He left her a simple note stating that he would be out of town for two days.

"Two days!" Alia frowned, the crease on her forehead deepening as she realized that he wouldn't be around for her father's birthday. She didn't even get the chance to invite him. But then, she doubted if he would attend such an occasion since he hated her father.

Massaging her forehead in frustration, Alia weighed her options of facing all those hyenas in her father's house alone without any close backup. Her bodyguards won't be allowed into certain places in the mansion but a close friend or partner will be given direct assess.

"I guess Stacy wouldn't mind." She shrugged, lazily pushing herself up from the bed and going about her morning routine.

Before long, she was back to her busy office schedule for the day attending to various clients' needs, attending so departntal etings and overseeing production for the day.

Towards the close of business, she reached out to Stacy, asking the latter to accompany her to search for a befitting gift for her dad.

An hour later, both friends were spotted entering different gift shops, searching for the perfect gift.

After achieving her main objective, Alia decided to go on a shopping spree for herself and her bestie. They stopped at different high-end boutiques trying out different designer clothes while chatting heartily.

Alia was inside one of the changing rooms trying out a new dress and listening to Stacy talk about an annoying client at her restaurant when she heard soone enter and close the changing room door next to her.

Focusing her mind on removing the previous dress which didn't fit and sliding into the new dress, Alia felt this weird knot in her stomach as though soone was spying on her. She stopped what she was doing and listened for any suspicious movent or sound but heard nothing.

Aside from Stacy's amused voice that was yapping on and on about how she dealt with the annoying custor and the distant discussion of clients and service providers, she heard nothing. Not even a sound to show that soone was in the other changing room.

She moved backwards taking two steps and heard the sa mimicking movent coming from the other room. She repeated the sa action moving sideways and so did the person in the other room. She cleared her throat just to be sure that she wasn't hearing things. But the person in the other room also cleared his voice in the sa manner.

"His!" Alia echoed in her heart, eyes widening in fright. Without thinking, she quickly dashed out of the changing room, half-dressed almost tripping on the long gown she was holding to her chest.

"Alia, what is wrong?" Stacy panicked, jumping to her feet.

"There is a man in that room." Alia pointed with shaky fingers, her alard voice attracting the attention of her bodyguards.
