A deafening silence engulfed the atmosphere around the table. This was shortly followed by a wild exclamation attracting the attention of a few custors seated not too far from them.
"Say what?" Kayla's jaws dropped.
"Impossible!" Nicole's eyes widened like a saucer.
"You are joking." Adriana cupped her mouth in surprise.
"Your husband?" Joanna was left in a daze as she stared at Alia incredulously.
"Yes, Jay." Alia's voice was laced with a hint of pride. It felt natural calling Blaze her husband, wondering how long he was going to sit in the car outside the coffee shop, waiting to take her ho.
"Alia, please tell this is a joke," Jay said in a desperate tone, afraid that Tina may run insane where she was watching the livestream.
"I'm sorry, Jay. But this is no joke. He is my husband and I was going to tell you all at the right ti. But after yesterday's event and the episode that took place after that, I decided it was ti you all knew the truth."
Another wave of silence fell on the table as everyone processed this information differently. So had curious excitent on their face few while others wore a dreadful look.
"So you an to tell that cold and deliciously handso man is your husband?" Adrianna wanted to scream out in excitent. "Girl, you are one lucky babe."
Alia forced a smile, which imdiately disappeared after Joanna's face-slapping words.
"Lucky! I don't think so." How can you sit there and tell us that Mr Blaze Anderson, - Tina's ex-boyfriend whom she's planning to rekindle her love story with, - is your husband? Are you for real?"
Alia could sense the rage in Joanna's voice as she replied to her question.
"Joanna, please don't make it sound as if I just murdered soone."
"What do you call this?" Joanna asked between gritted teeth, trying her best not to scream.
"Joanna..."
"Stacey, let handle this," Alia said pleading without peeling her gaze from Joanna.
"Jay, Mr Anderson is my husband and I'm not ashad to say that. I didn't know who Tina's boyfriend was before I got married to him and I do not feel guilty of committing any cri."
"Is that the best la excuse you can co up with?" Joanna's narrowed eyes shot invisible fiery in Alia's direction.
"Joanna..." Alia called in a warning tone but the latter kept on talking, depriving others from sharing their views.
"What happened to the thousands of n in this city? What happened to all those rich dudes who are dying to be with you? What happened to that rich and handso Tyler guy, who was practically groveling at your feet yesterday? Of all the n in the world, why him? Why must it be a friend's ex? Have you forgotten the code we live by?"
Alia felt her body stiffen as her initial irritation morphed into pure anger.
"Joanna, don't you think you are taking this a little too far? Adriana's forehead furrowed. She didn't think Alia had committed any cri by choosing a single, good-looking and extrely wealthy man for a husband.
"No, I'm not." Joanna spat out between clenched teeth. "You're not the one who had to listen to her friend cry her heart out, thinking about how her world is about to crumble at the thought of losing her love. Tina relocated to this city specifically to reunite with Mr Anderson. She loves him and she's ready to do whatever it takes to reunite with him. How do you think she would feel when she learns that Alia is already the only man she ever truly loves?"
"She's going to be devastated. That is a fact." Nicole shook her head feeling sorry for Tina and a little angry at Alia.
Alia could feel the heat rising on her face as she tried to defend her action. She took in a deep breath, before facing Joanna squarely.
"Listen, Jay, I have no plans of hurting anyone. I t my husband single and unattached before we agreed to make our union formal. I will not apologize to anyone for marrying him. I never knew who Tina was until you introduced her to us. So I do not consider her as a mber of this group. I have been receiving insults both directly and indirectly from Tina for the last few days ever since she saw with my mother-in-law. But it ends now."
"Really!" Joanna laughed bitterly. "And here I was thinking Tina had lost her mind when she was accusing you of theft. It is clear to now. But let ask you this question. "Where is your sense of dignity?"
Joanna's statents sparked an uproar amongst the friends as everyone started talking at the sa ti, attracting virtually everyone's attention in the coffee shop. Thankfully, the custors were few and mostly made up of aged people, the main reason why Alia suggested the location.
Pascal and Clay who were seated three tables away from the won, kept their eyes glued on Alia waiting for any signs of danger before springing into action.
Stacy, who had promised Alia earlier that she wouldn't interfere, decided that she was done remaining silent.
"Enough!" Stacy bood to silence everyone seated at the table. So of the old folks who had turned their table to stare at the feuding young won smiled and even clapped their hands for Stacey.
"I'm sure you all have heard of the saying that one man's trash is another man's gold."
"Yeah," They all nodded their heads.
"Well, you don't trash a gem and expect soone not to find it. I'm not just saying this because Alia is our friend. I see no harm in what she has done based on the following points." Stacy lowered her voice as she addressed Blaze's na.
"1. Mr Anderson is not an object that soone can purchase from the market at will. He is a man with blood flowing through his veins. He has the right to choose any woman he fancies and none of us can do shit about it.
2. Like Alia rightly said, none of us knew who Tina's lover was until yesterday evening at the event when she opened up to us. So how the hell could Alia have betrayed her?
3. Based on Tina's pathetic story, which in my honest opinion is pure trash, which of you seated here would watch your only brother get ditched by a heartless woman and still watch that woman waltz back into his life after years of exploring the unknown."
"Excuse !" Joanna balled her hands into a fist, her temper exceeding its limit.
