Regina awoke to the infuriating sound of soone knocking repeatedly on the door. Each knock sounded like a hamr blow breaking into the silence, shattering the peace in the room.

"Who could that be at this ungodly hour?"

Regina face contoured in a deep frown, her eyes droopy and her brain foggy. She was having the most beautiful dream and didn't want to ruin it

"But wait a second..." Regina rubbed her bleary eyes open only to realize that this was no dream at all. She was indeed lying on a soft plush bed completely nude with a man sleeping next to her, his arms possessively wrapped around her waist.

Although the room was dark, she could make out the face of this well built man with sandy blonde hair, thanks to the soft glow coming from the bedside lamp.

It was the sa hot and sexy gigolo guy, Gwen introduced to her. The sa one who had left her breathless for hours. He was looking so peaceful and innocent in his sleep, unashad of sleeping with a woman old enough to be his mother.

'But what was he still doing here sleeping beside her? Did he by any chance follow her back to the mansion?' Regina queried her confused thoughts. She scanned her surrounding only to realize that they were still in the sa hotel room.

"This isn't happening!" Regina, patted the young man on the shoulder, pushing his hands off her.

"Hey...."

The young man groaned, yawning, while stretching.

"Get up. Soone is at a door." Regina hurried out of the bed almost tripping on the ssy floor littered with half eaten food and drinks.

"Is it morning already?" The young man rolled out of the bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes.

"I hope not. Just get the door. I think it's my daughter." Regina maneuver her way through the ss, picking up her clothes and dashing into the bathroom.

The young man hurriedly got dressed before answering the door. He had barely opened it fully before Gwen forced her way in almost pushing him to the floor. She was closely followed by Pearl who seed more relaxed and unperturbed.

"Where is my mother." Gwen barked at the young man, her inflad eyes scanning the room for Regina.

However, before he could answer, the bathroom door was pushed open and Regina ca out all dressed in her rumpled clothes. Her hair was looking ssy and so was her appearance.

"Soone had a busy night." Pearl winked at her elder sister, assessing the ssy bed and the empty bottle of wine and glasses on the floor.

"Please tell it's not yet morning." Regina said in a panicked voice, ignoring Pearl's remark.

"I'm so sorry, mom. I overslept." Gwen lanted. "But if we hurry now, we can get ho before Greg wake up. It's just 6:30 AM."

"6:30 what!" Regina scread, her face turning pale.

"Relax, sis. Don't get yourself worked up over nothing." Pearl ca up to her to help her fix her ssy hair. " Even if it's morning, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you sleeping out. After all, your husband did nothing special to welco you ho other than greeting you with a slap."

"Is the truth mom." Gwen sided with her aunt. "You have nothing to worry about. If Greg ask any questions, I'll tell him I simply took you out away from all the depression."

"Okay. Let go." Regina pushed them to the door.

"Not with you reeking of another man." Pearl objected, sniffing her sister up close. "You need to take a bath before we leave."

After a futile night of searching for her husband in all the places she could possibly think of, Harriet returned ho, a broken woman.

She stayed up all through the night thinking of all the bad things Desmond could get himself into. She blad Gwen and her mother for taking her husband away. She swore to give Desmond a piece of her mind if and when he returns.

As early as 6:00 AM the following morning, Harriet was preparing to go down to the senator's house to confront Gwen when she received a ssage notification from an unknown number on WhatsApp.

When she opened the ssage, the image she saw made her eyes almost pop out of its socket. She staggered backwards, holding one of the couches for support.

At that sa mont, she heard the sound of a car approaching. She hurried out of the house just in ti to find her sober looking husband stepping out of an unknown car.

Sucking in her breath, she's stifled the storm brewing inside of her and waited patiently for Desmond to co to her. She welcod him calmly into the house, not wanting to create a scene outside and attract her nosy neighbours. She quietly closed the door behind Desmond, using the inner lock before joining him in the sitting room.

"Baby, I'm so sorry..."

Smack!

Harriet unleashed a fierce slap across her husband's face, almost knocking him off his feet.

"You ungrateful bastard!" Harriet spat out.

"I deserve that." Desmond said, ignoring the burning sting on his cheek and the insult, as he ca closer to his enraged wife. He was about to cook up a believable story but his alcoholic breath and the lingering fragrance of a feminine perfu on his clothes betrayed him.

Before he could say another word, Harriet dealt him another fiercer slap while barking.

"Where do you think you are coming from?"

"Mom..." Elsie ca out, awakened by her mother piercing voice. She was closely followed by her elder brother who was glaring at his father.

"Get back inside, Elsie and take your brother with you." Harriet yelled at her daughter. "I don't want to see you or any of your sibling here."

"But mom...." Elsie teary gaze shifted to her father as if seeking his opinion.

"Just do what your mother said Elsie. Go inside with your brother. Let talk to your mother alone." Desmond pleaded with his children.

"Okay, dad." Elsie sniffled as she returned to her bedroom crying.

"You better not hurt mom, again." David threatened before disappearing out of sight.

Desmond didn't get enough ti to process his son's threat as Harriet next question knocked the air out of his lungs.

"Is there soone else?" Harriet returned her teary eyes to Desmond hoping he'll co clean with the truth.

"What! No." Desmond lied through his teeth, afraid of the storm Harriet would raise if she found out that he spent the entire night with Pearl.

Although he blad Pearl for luring him into her web, he couldn't deny the fact that he had a great ti with her. But at the mont, he regretted hurting his wife seeing the dark circles under her reddened eyes.

"Don't you dare lie to ." Harriet wagged her finger threateningly in Desmond face, her voice trembling with fury. "I can sll a woman all over you. You wreak of her perfu and your breath slls of alcohol."

"I swear, I wasn't with any woman. I went to see my mother as promised. Seeing her looking so pale and lifeless on that hospital bed got to . I got depressed and I knew I couldn't co back ho looking like that. So I went to a bar and had a couple of drinks to drown my sorrow."

Tears of betrayal flowed down Harriet cheek as she listened to her husband lies.

"Is that all that happened."

"Yes sweetheart. I swear." Desmond smiled in his heart, thinking his wife had bought his lies.

"And was Gwen, Pearl and Regina with you at the hospital?"

"Yes."

Harriet laughed bitterly.

"Were they also drinking with you?"

"No. I was alone."

"Do I look like a fool to you." Harriet demanded between clenched jaws.

"Of course not darling." Desmond was slightly confused. He tried to touch her but she slapped his hands away.

"Will guess what? I called your elder brother yesterday and he said you never visited your mother. You don't even know the na of the hospital where she was admitted because you never spoke to him. I called everyone and no one heard from you. So I ask again, do I look like a fool to you?"

Desmond's jaw dropped. He didn't know his wife had gone this far to search for him and he instantly knew he had ssed up.

"Baby, please..."

"Don't you dare baby ." Harriet bellowed pushing Desmond on the floor. She picked up the table flower vase, raising it above her head. "Where were you yesterday evening? Where did you sleep? Who did you spend the night with? And you better not lie to again. Otherwise, I'll hurt you and hurt myself."

"Okay... Just put the vase down and let explain everything." Desmond went on his knees, his hands clasped.

"Just tell the truth and stop begging you ungrateful man." Harriet scread even louder threatening to drop the vase on his head.

"Who were you drinking and ssing around with. Give her na." Harriet demanded even though she already knew who this person was.

"She is nobody. She doesn't an anything to ? She was just a one night stand, I swear."

"A one night stand." Harriet calmly brought the flower vase down with trembling hands. "Very well. I'll give you one more chance to co clean with . If you fail to tell the truth then don't bla for my actions."
