Blaze's voice was a low, rumbling growl as he replied to Henry's heart-wrenching report about Alia's condition.

"Can I speak with my mother?"

"Sure bro. But please, take it easy. Alia will be fine according to the doctor's report." Henry spoke softly from the other end.

Blaze shut his eyes, his demon struggling to let loose. "Just put my mother on the phone."

"Okay. I'll take the phone to her right away. Just give a few seconds. She's currently in Alia's bedroom with the senator."

"Hmm...." Blaze sighed, his eyes bloodshot.

Even the chief warden, who had beco his closest ally over the past two months, was terrified by the negative aura he was exuding.

"Mr Anderson, don't you think it's ti for you to consider my plan B?" The chief warden spoke softly feeling Blaze's pain. "I will take care of everything and no one will suspect a thing."

Blaze looked up at the mature uniford man with gray hair as if reconsidering his earlier offer.

"We'll talk about that later," Blaze said after a while.

"Good. I'll be outside if you need ." The mature officer left the office, sensing Blaze needed the privacy.

"Hello, son..."

Maria's soft but slightly quivering voice snapped Blaze from his crippling thoughts.

"Mum..."

"Oh, my dear boy..."

Blaze clenched and unclenched his left fist, gritting his teeth so hard, his body trembling with stifling rage at the broken sound of his mother's voice.

"How is she?" He managed to ask, fighting back his tears, which were already streaming down his flushed face.

"Sleeping for now." Maria sniffled. "But she seems drained of life and the will to live." She started sobbing, forcing Blaze out of his seat.

Blaze clasped his forehead, gripping it so tight as if he wanted to crush his skull as his mother kept talking and crying.

"I've never seen her this way. She wouldn't even listen to until the doctor ca around and sedated her. Her blood pressure was so high and scary. Doctor Vanessa said she could lose her baby and, even worse, her life if she kept on this way. She thinks taking her out of the country, away from everything, would help. However, if I were to be completely honest, what Alia needs is you. You know the best way to calm her. You are the only one who knows how to connect to her soul. That animal defiled her mother, and it is not sothing she is going to forget for a long ti. She's shattered and only your love and physical touch can heal her right now."

Blaze inhaled and exhaled to push out the hate and pain in his heart. He cleared his throat before saying.

"I've heard you, Mom. Please put the phone on her ear so that I can talk to her."

"But she's sleeping. She won't be able to hear you." Maria countered.

"I know. I'll speak to her subconscious."

"Okay."

Blaze listened to the shuffling of feet before his mother's serene voice ca up again.

"You can talk to her right now."

He listened again and smiled as he heard Alia's gentle snoring. Even though he couldn't see her beautiful face or feel her soft skin, that sweet serene snoring lted his heart.

"My love, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there to comfort you when you need the most. I know how you feel, but trust we will get through this together. I promise you this, I will avenge you. I will make all of them pay for every hurt they've made you and your mother suffer. I will turn them against each other and make them beg for your rcy. And when the ti cos, you will see them burn in hell, one by one until none of them is left. I swear on my life and on my father's grave. Stay strong for and Junior. Daddy is coming to you."

Matt was very intentional about his movent from the mont he left his ho. He knew he had been followed. So, he kept a low profile.

Using so of the money he took from his wife's handbag, he took a bus ride to the city amusent park, keeping his head low.

Insider the park, the atmosphere crackled with excitent and anticipation. It was buzzing with thrilled conversation, laughter and the blasting sounds of lively music.

An array of bright, vibrant colours and eye-catching goods were displayed at different booths, with rchants calling out to people to patronize them.

The shrill cries of excited children and adults alike, riding the magnificent Ferris wheels and other fun rides were deafening. And the delicious aroma of buttered popcorn, different flavours of cotton candy, ice creams and other delicious fresh snacks whiffed through the air.

Matt stopped briefly in front of a stall that sold different colourful male scarves, hats, and glasses. He tried on a few while staring into the mirror, spotting two strange faces that had been following him ever since he got onto the bus.

After paying for his goods, he strolled down to another shop and got himself a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.

Picking out a stick of cigar from the pack, he held it firmly between his lips and lit the tip, copying the fla, while continuing scanning his environnt. He spotted another man pretending to read a newspaper while staring at him.

"Assholes."

Chuckling to himself, Matt took a long drag of his cigar, filling his lungs with the intoxicating smoke.

With a practised ease, he held the cigarette, the tip glowing, and puffed a stream of smoke into the air, the scent of tobacco and ash lingering in the space.

He spotted a familiar face buying an ice cream cone for an excited child while patting the child on the head and giving him a nonverbal finger signal.

Blinking once, Matt casually made his way to the only phone booth on the far east end of the park. He waited patiently for the person inside to co out before ushering himself in. He sluggishly took another drag of his cigarette while waiting patiently for the phone to ring.

When the phone finally rang, Matt picked up the receiver, retrohaling slowly, with a cloud of smoke swirling around him.

"I'm listening." He said in a chilly voice while scanning the faces passing by through the transparent phone booth glass.

"Make your way to the haunted house. A package is waiting for you there."

The line instantly disconnected.

Matt took one last drag of his cigarette as he dropped the receiver, his narrowed and slightly reddened eyes brimming with unhinged vengeance. He crushed the remaining burning cigarette under the sole of his boots before leaving the phone booth for the haunted House.
