"Amy, I said I was sorry for opening up to my aunt. She's my second mother and I needed soone to talk to."
"..."
"Please, talk to . You can't remain silent forever. It's just the two of us here."
"..."
"Do you want to go sowhere else? You don't have to follow ho if you don't feel like it."
Alia blinked severally to push back her tears but didn't say anything.
"Do you want to take you to your father?"
"..."
"Your friend's house?"
"..."
Feeling like he was about to explode from frustration and depression, Blaze slowly veered off the four-lane road, taking Alia by surprise. He pulled over by the side of the road but left the engine running.
Taking off his seatbelt, while Alia watched with a hint of fear in her eyes, he turned to face her, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Please, talk to ," Blaze said in a slightly raised voice, taking her interlocked cold and trembling hands in his. "Your silence is driving crazy. I can't...I can't take it anymore. Just say sothing. Shout at if you want to. Curse . Hit . Throw all shades of dirt at but don't remain silent. It's killing ."
Alia watched quietly as tears slowly slid down his reddened face. She was tempted to raise her hands and wipe it away. But for so reason she couldn't explain she remained frozen just staring at him, her heart pounding fast.
Taking in a deep breath to calm himself, Blaze lifted his hand to stroke her flushed cheek.
"I'm sorry for raising my voice at you."
A teardrop fell from Alia's eye, hitting Blaze's thumb. But he quickly wiped it away, still holding her hypnotic gaze.
"Please tell what you want and I'll do it right now."
"Take ho," Alia whispered.
"The villa?" Blaze asked calmly.
Alia shook her head. "The mansion. I want to sleep in Mom's room."
"Okay. Thank you." Blaze raised her cold hand to his lips and planted a warm kiss on it, an action that sent a warn tingling through Alia's fingers.
Buckling back his seat belt, Blaze pulled back the gear level and stepped on the gas pedal heading straight for the mansion.
When they arrived at the mansion, Alia slowly made her way up the stairs and into Maria's bedroom.
Imdiately she stepped foot into the dimly lit room, the lingering scent of Maria's fruity perfu greeted her nostrils. The comforting warmth in the air enveloped her in a soothing embrace, relaxing her nerves and calming her broken spirit. Her glimring eyes drank the tranquility in the room as she slowly made her way to the plush and inviting bed.
Without taking her shoes off, Alia climbed on the bed and pulled a pillow to her chest cuddling it, as weariness took over.
After asking the chef to prepare Alia's best al, Blaze stopped by his mother's bedroom to check on his wife.
When he knocked lightly on the door without a response he quietly pushed it open, making a minimal creaking sound.
The sight of Alia coiled up on the bed, sound asleep while still fully dressed in her outing attire made him sigh. He quietly made his way into the room and towards the bedside.
Going down on his knees, he carefully removed her shoes without waking her up.
Next, he disappeared into the bathroom to fix her a warm bath before appearing with his sleeves folded up. He was about to wake Alia up when his eyes caught sight of a small fancy cara on the nightstand. He observed a folded note under the cara and reached out for it. He unfolded the note and read.
"From mom to Blaze and Alia. I have a confession to make. Please, you both should forgive after listening to my confession on the cara."
"Confession!" Blaze echoed the word out, unaware that Alia was now awake and listening to him.
Turning on the cara with a trembling finger, he accessed the playback function through the recorder's interface and selected the last video recorded.
The sight of his mom's face staring directly at him through the recorded paused video made Blaze's heart skip a bit. His hands hovered on the play button indecisively for a few seconds, so many scary thoughts crippling his soul.
"What are you waiting for?"
Blaze flinched, snapping his head backwards to look at Alia who was now sitting up on the bed. He was shocked to see her wide awake.
"I...I thought you were sleeping."
"I was until your voice woke up." Alia's gaze shifted to the cara recorder he was holding. "Let's hear what is inside."
"I don't know if this is a good idea. How about I listen to it first before sharing it with you just in case it's unpalatable." Blaze explained patiently.
"Didn't the note say it was ant for the both of us?" Alia asked climbing out of bed and picking the note up from where Blaze left it
"Yes, it does." Blaze nodded.
"Then I want to hear it." Alia patted her hand on the bed, signalling Blaze to sit beside her.
"Okay, if you insist." Blaze slowly sat beside her, placing the cara recorder in her hand.
They both held each other's gaze silently as if giving one another strength for what they were about to hear and see.
"Are you ready?" Blaze's forefinger hovers over the play button.
"Yes." Alia's voice was barely above a whisper as her heart kept pounding in her ears.
Blaze pressed play and Maria's voice instantly enveloped the stillness in the room.
"Mom!" Alia gasped interlocking her right hand with Blaze's left for strength as she watched Maria writhe in pain while making her confession.
[Blaze, you are not just a son to . But you are my husband, my brother, my best friend, my support system, my peace and my joy.
I know my desire for you to get settled may have pushed you into a temporal and uncommitted relationship. But I'm glad it did because I have never seen two people so perfect for each other.
You made the happiest woman alive the day you introduced to the most amazing and beautiful young woman on earth as your wife.
I couldn't have asked for anything more special, more priceless, more adorable or more invaluable than you my daughter, Alia.
I consider myself blessed and fortunate to have the two of you in my life as my children. And I don't think I will survive it, if you too ever split ways, especially because of what I did.
Like every mother, I'm not perfect. My quest to expand our family and see my grandchildren before I die pushed into inferring in your relationship.
I discovered that you two didn't want to have children and so I stopped that from happening. I knew Alia was taking contraceptives so I switched it with vitamins hoping for the best...]
"What!"
Alia gasped, her widened reddened tears filled eyes almost popping out of its socket as realization slowly dawned on her.
It was hard enough watching her mother-in-law groan in so much pain. But listening to her say she was behind the unexplained pregnancy felt like a blow to the chest, knocking her breath away.
Blaze quickly paused the video as Alia started hyperventilating while holding her chest.
"Amy, breathe..." He helped her stand up to allow the free flow of air into her lungs while moving her away from the video recorder.
"Take it slowly, breathe, in and out."
Alia followed Blaze's direction, breathing slowly until the tightness in her chest loosened.
"Mom knew...."
"I'm so sorry." Blaze pulled Alia into his arms, as she wept out her heart, the dilemma behind her pregnancy finally solved.
