Maria woke up, feeling slightly under the weather. She had gone to bed the previous night with a heavy conscience after she tried speaking to Blaze the previous night but failed.
Blaze had been so into his wife that breaking their chemistry the previous night was impossible. Neither of them had finished their dinner before going upstairs to their bedroom.
So Maria decided to confess her cri to her children when it was daybreak.
Unfortunately, she slept in and only woke up when she heard Alia's voice shouting her son's na.
Startled, thinking sothing bad had happened, Maria ran out of her bedroom and down the stairs, following her daughter-in-law's screaming voice.
"Oh God, please, don't let anything bad happen." Maria, still dressed in her night robe with her hair let down, hurried out of the mansion. She observed the mansion Butler and so servants crouched behind soone crying, who sounded just like Alia.
"What is happening here?" Maria demanded while massaging her aching forehead.
"Good morning, Madam." The house butler and the other servants greeted with their heads lowered as they made room for the madam of the house to co close to her daughter-in-law.
"Alia." Maria hurried towards her daughter-in-law, who was still kneeling on the concrete floor crying. She hurried to where Alia was and knelt beside her why signaling the butler and servants to leave.
"What is wrong, my dear? Did you and Blaze quarrel?"
Alia shook her head while leaning on her mother-in-law's chest still crying and sniffing.
"Then what happened? Talk to ." Maria pleaded in a quivering voice while stroking Alia's hair and soothing her.
"I was going to tell him." Alia managed to say as she hiccupped, trembling in her mother-in-law's arms.
"Tell him what?"
Alia shook her head in response while holding tightly to Maria's robe, her body shaking.
"Alright, let's go inside. You are not dressed properly and you crying out here doesn't look good. People might think sothing else happened."
Alia nodded and allowed her mother-in-law to pull her up to her feet.
"Sweet heavens. You've bruised yourself." Maria exclaid observing Alia's bleeding right knee.
Alia only spared her bruised knee a glance, unperturbed by the stinging pain. She was more traumatized by the fact that she didn't get to speak to Blaze before he left. She stared backwards to the gate as if planning on running after the car. But Maria's kind words and soothing touch forced her to face the reality of the mont.
"Don't worry my dear, whatever it is, we can always address it. Co, let's go inside and attend to that injury before it gets infected."
Alia nodded and followed Maria back into the mansion while limping a little.
Inside the mansion, Maria personally attended to Alia's injury while Eugene got her so aspirin and water.
"Sister-in-law, drink this. You'll be fine, okay." Eugene said holding out the glass of water to Alia and two white capsules in his palm.
Alia nodded while wincing as Maria cleaned her injury.
"I tried calling Blaze but it wasn't connecting. so I reached out to the driver and he said your husband is currently on a conference eting call." Eugene explained further while wondering what was so urgent that Alia needed to say only to her husband.
"Why don't you go to the office and see him?" Maria suggested, looking up. She had tried questioning Alia but the latter seed unwilling to share whatever was aching her heart.
"Yes. That is a good idea." Alia finally spoke up. "I'll go to his office. I'll see him after his eting."
"Eugene will take you there," Maria said, giving her nephew the signal to go and get ready.
"Sure thing, mom." Eugene left the sitting room while Maria helped Alia up to her feet, ignoring the warning signs in her depreciating health.
"Careful and don't stress that knee. Just take things slowly. Everything will be fine." Maria assured Alia.
"Thanks, mom. I will explain everything to you when I get back." Alia kissed Maria on the cheek.
"It's okay." Maria patted her on the back. "Go and get dressed now. When you and your husband return, there's sothing I need to tell the both of you."
"Alright, mom." Alia hurriedly left for her bedroom to get ready.

anwhile, at the Andex Groups International, Blaze arrived at the office still engrossed in his conference call. He received a written note from his secretary informing him that all the managers of the various departnts we already seated in the conference room and awaiting him.
Dropping his briefcase on his desk, he picked up his laptop and left for the conference room.
The eting began earnestly with a detailed slide show presentation made by the operation manager, a tall but chubby man in a brown bespoke suit and neatly trimd hair.
He inford everyone of the recent developnt regarding the newly acquired gold minefield and how it was set to take the company to the next level of production and innovation.
While the presentation was ongoing, Blaze decided to check his email for fresh updates from Marcus, who was currently in the said gold mining field, standing in for him.
There was nothing in his inbox from Marcus except an unknown account with the userna Jack_123.
When Blaze clicked on the ssage, it read.
[Your wife is cheating on you. See attachnt below.]
Blaze's calm expression turned frigid. His finger froze on the touchpad, and his heart began to pound in his ribcage as he read those words over and over again, unable to digest them.
His eyes narrowed at the attachnt below, a storm brewing from the pit of his stomach as he clicked on the first attachnt.
A picture of Alia holding hands intimately with a young man whose face was turned sideways ca into view. Both of them seed to be exiting a restaurant, oblivious of their surroundings as they were staring at each other smiling.
Blaze didn't recognize the man in the picture imdiately as rage and jealousy blinded his eyes, numbing his senses and making him only see red. His breathing beca laboured and ragged. His hand resting on the table balled into a fist and his body trembled with unfathomable fury as he clicked on the second attachnt.
Instantly, the audio recording ca to life with Dr Ashely's cheerful voice reverberating in Blaze's ear.
[You are pregnant, Mrs Anderson.]
"What!" Blaze bood, silencing the ongoing presentation as every pair of eyes in the conference room turned in his direction horrified by the monstrous look in his eyes.
