After reconciling with his mother, Blaze left Alia's room to see the doctor.
Fortunately for him, she was in her office.
"Mr Anderson, I was expecting you." Dr Ashely said beaming, as Blade made his way inside, escorted by a nurse. "Please have a seat."
"Thank you."
Blaze pulled out one of the chairs opposite the doctor's desk and sat down. He waited for the nurse to leave and shut the door behind her before questioning the doctor.
"What happened Dr Ashley? I thought you assured that my wife was fine. Why is she still vomiting?"
Dr Ashely smiled while maintaining a professional composure.
"As I explained before, there is no reason for alarm. Nausea is one of the many symptoms or signs to show that a patient suffering from a food allergy or intolerance has been exposed to sothing their body perceives as harmful. It doesn't necessarily an that it could be a food the patient had ingested. It could be anything that mimics food sensitivity take for example your wife's case. What she ate had nothing to do with her vomiting. Rather her nausea was triggered by the slightly harsh perfu of her visiting friend."
"Harsh perfu from her visiting friend!" Blaze repeated the doctor's last statent in complete shock.
"Yes, Mr Anderson. Most perfus are made from plant extract and plants are the main source of our food. So, they can also cause a trigger amongst other things."
"Hmm...I never knew." Blaze replied in a daze, his gaze shifting sideways as he recalled the entire day's event when he was with Alia.
He rembered that Alia had been so lively and energetic, chatting and even eating the food and fruit his mom gave her. She didn't vomit afterwards or show any sign of discomfort.
He recalled when all her girlfriends and father ca to visit. There was no episode of vomiting either.
The only visiting friend that ca in his absence was Tina and she was also the one who inford him that Alia was vomiting.
How co Tina had been present on two different occasions when Alia had this traumatic crisis?
Could this be a coincidence or was it intentional?
"Are you by any chance inferring that the last lady who ca visiting might have triggered my wife's nausea?" Blaze asked, his expression turning cold, as he slowly understood the reason why his mom went nut with Tina
"I am not blaming her for your wife's condition, Mr Anderson." Dr Ashely explained calmly seeing the way Blaze's expression had turned dangerous. "It may have been done out of ignorance. But when visiting a sick patient, especially one with an allergic condition, one should always be mindful of the kind of fragrance they wear or the food they eat in the patient's presence. A subtle approach is better in this case."
Blaze nodded his head. "Thank you, doctor." He paused before adding. "Is there anything else you would like to inform about my wife? I would hate to find out that you overlook certain details which are relevant to her health."
At this statent, the doctor's heart skipped a beat. She shifted uneasily in her chair under Blaze's intense scrutiny while slowly taking off her reading glasses. She cleared her throat before replying.
"Your wife is..." She paused, staring at Blaze's expectant face, her conscience pricking her at the promise she had already made to Alia.
"She's what?" Blaze asked, encouraging the doctor to complete her statent.
Dr Ashely nodded, moistening her lips and swallowing her saliva as her throat suddenly turned parched. She broke out in cold sweat and she thought of the risk of lying to the dangerous-looking man before her.
But she had given Alia her words and breaking the young woman's trust was sothing she couldn't bring herself to do.
"She is...p....pretty strong and brave. I can assure you that there are no underlying ailnts. You have nothing to be afraid of."
"Very well." Blaze rose up to his feet, his mind made up about Tina. "Thank you, doctor." He extended his right hand towards her.
"You're welco." Dr Ashely shook her, plastering a smile on her face even though she was trembling within.
As Blaze exited her office, Dr Ashely released a sigh of regret, her heart throbbing even louder.
"Ashley, what have you gotten yourself into?"

Blaze returned to Alia's room after leaving the doctor's office. He t his mother still perched beside Alia, staring lovingly into her sleeping face while humming a song.
A warm smile crept up his face as he made his way towards her and hugged her from behind.
"Who is this grown man acting like a child?" Maria teased.
"It's your one and only." Blaze playfully pecked her on the cheek before taking a seat on the edge of Alia's bed.
"How did it go with the doctor?" Maria asked, smiling.
"It went well. At least now I know the reason why Alia vomited."
"And?" Maria raised her eyebrows quizzically.
"I will ensure it doesn't repeat itself."
"Good. Because anyone who tries to ss with my daughter-in-law, including you, will have to contend with."
Blaze chuckled at his mother's threats.
"I'm not laughing. I'm serious. Alia is currently my baby. And you know how mothers are with their babies." Maria stressed.
"I know. Alia is so lucky to have you, Mom."
"Is actually the other way around son. I'm so lucky to have her and soon I'll have tiny feet running around ."
"Ahem!" Blaze cleared his throat noisily, the smile vanishing from his face.
"What?" Maria eyed him. "Or isn't it high ti you give a grandchild?"
"Mom please, let's not go there," Blaze said yawning.
"Why? Don't you want to have kids with Alia? I know she will make a great mother."
"Mom please, can we drop that topic and focus on my wife getting better? We are not ready to have children. At least not now."
"Then when? Is it when I'm all old and can't carry my grandchildren on my back?" Maria flashed him a disapproving glare. She was thinking by now Alia would have gotten pregnant. But she also feared that the couple may have changed the contraceptive pill she switched.
