"Don't just stand there, co in," Judith said softly, beckoning to Tina, who timidly nodded and slowly advanced, like soone walking on a tightrope.
Tina's heart was pounding erratically in her chest as she observed the way Maria's eagle eyes scanned her from head to toe like an X-ray machine. She could tell the mature woman was greatly displeased with her dressing from her admonishing gaze.
Thankfully, aside from Maria's sowhat hostile look, and Alia's unreadable expression, Judith and her husband were smiling at her.
Tina had barely gotten within fifteen feet of Alia's bed when the latter's highly sensitive nostrils perceived sothing harsh, choking and unsettling.
Alia's nose crinkled and her face scrunched at the strong and intoxicating sll coming from Tina. It felt as though she was doused in a blend of patchouli, and tonka bean with a hint of vanilla.
Unfortunately for Alia, she had just eaten so of Maria's spicy ho al which the chef brought earlier and now, it seed everything was doing a flip-flop in her stomach.
'What the hell did she spray?' Alia hissed inwardly as she tried to hold her breath.
Tina stopped six feet from Alia's bed, managing a feverish smile. Before she could say anything, Judith beat her to it.
"You're looking really dashing, Tina. Are you going to a party?" Judith asked, admiring her exquisite outfit.
"Oh no, I'm coming from the studio where we just had a photoshoot section." Tina lied between her teeth. "I was going ho but decided to first stop by the hospital and check on Alia."
"Aww! How thoughtful. You know if you had co earlier, you would have t your other friends. They left not quite long."
"It's okay. I ca here for Alia and not them." Tina tilted her head to face Maria, who hadn't said a single word even though has chilly gaze spoke volus.
"Good afternoon, mom."
"Excuse ." Maria raised an eyebrow at Tina's last word, her voice void of any empathy or emotion.
Rembering her last unpleasant encounter with Maria, Tina quickly corrected herself.
"Sorry. I ant, Mrs Anderson. It's good to see you here. You look lovely as always."
"Hmm..." Maria sized her up condescendingly. "I'm sure you didn't co all the way here just to tell that."
Tina chuckled feverishly her hand tightening around the handle of her handbag as she shifted her gaze to Alia.
"Hi, Alia. I can see you are...." Tina paused, her eyebrows raised in alarm. ".... Are you all right?"
Everyone's attention quickly shifted to Alia, whose face was now beet red from fighting to keep her nausea at bay as Tina's suffocating scent dealt with her rcilessly.
"Alia!" Maria's voice raised in panic as she abruptly jumped to her feet, snatching one of the nylon bags beside the table and emptying all the contents on the floor, before bringing the empty bag to Alia's face.
"Showti!" A sly glint flashed across Tina's eyes as everyone sprang to their feet in confusion and panic.
Alia retched, her whole body trembling violently, her knuckles turning white from her grip on the bed before everything she had eaten for the entire day ca out in full force.
"Oh my goodness!" Judith exclaid out loud, sprinting to the other side of the bed and stroking Alia's back as she emptied her stomach into the bag. "Quickly baby, get the doctor."
"Okay." Hilary sprinted for the door while Tina ca closer bending down to pick up the spilled items on the floor.
"You, wait outside." Maria barked, her eyes inflad, causing Tina to flinch.
"But, I wanted to help pick..."
"Now, Tina!" Maria yelled while Lance hurriedly ca forward to escort Tina outside.
Outside Alia's room, Tina watched as so nurses and two doctors rushed inside to arrest Alia's situation. She almost felt sorry for Alia knowing she was the one responsible for the trigger. But then, this was the plan.
Unfortunately, the targeted audience was missing in action.
Thinking briefly, Tina brought out her phone from her handbag and dialed Blaze's number, while taking a few steps away from the other bodyguard whose scary gaze was all over her.
Blaze didn't pick up on the first ring. But when she tried the second ti, he picked up the call.
"Hello, who is this?" Blaze's deep and cold voice filled Tina with a sensual chill.
"You didn't save my number?" Tina pursed her lips, her tone laced with a hint of disappointnt.
"Tina! Why are you calling ?" Blaze asked impatiently.
Tina could hear running water in the background, making her second-guess his location.
"Where are you?"
"I asked you a question. Why are you calling ?" Blaze demanded in a slightly raised voice.
Tina gritted her teeth. "I'm at the hospital with your wife. But never mind. You seem too irritated to hear my voice or listen to what I have to say about her condition." She rolled her eyes and hung up, knowing he would call back.
As anticipated, her phone started ringing almost imdiately.
A wicked smirk danced across her lips as she waited for it to ring for a while before picking up.
"What do you want?"
"Don't you EVER, hang up on again. Do you understand?" Blaze bood from the other end.
Tina trembled, gulping down a lump that had ford in her throat as she nodded her head as if he was standing in front of her with his hand wrapped around her neck in a choking grip.
"I didn't get a response." Blaze's viciously dangerous voice made Tina almost pee on herself.
"Yes..." Tina managed to say, regretting hanging up on him. "I understand."
"Now, what were you saying about my wife?"
"She's vomiting again? I think it's Gt f severe this ti."
"What! Why! What happened?" Blaze half scread in panic.
Tina's face scrunched in disgust at the way Blaze's voice suddenly softened at the ntion of his wife.
"I don't know. One minute, I was in her room, saying hi and the next minute, she was vomiting all over the place."
"Isn't my mom there with her?"
"She is and your mom really looks stressed. You should co down quickly. Where are you?"
"I'm coming."
The line suddenly disconnected showing that Blaze had hung up on her.
"So far, so good." Tina hurriedly rushed towards the convenience to retouch her makeup.
