Arella still felt sowhat disoriented by the events that had transpired after she had passed out. She would have even dismissed everything that had happened as a dream. She would have ignored it all, if she did not have the mories of Kratel swimming in her mind. They were incomplete of course, fragnts of the very long life that he had lived.
However, thanks to the fragnts and pieces of him that were in her mind, she was different. It was as if she had learned all that he had learned by herself. This was why she could fight differently, and she could wield the power that coursed through her veins differently.
The mories had changed an integral part of her.
The power that she wielded was not the sa either. It was different. Sothing had opened up after she had been hit with the energy from the intruders. It was as though an entire door had been opened and Arella felt like she was swimming in an ocean of power. Power that could definitely not be categorized as holy power.
Arella would think about that later.
The most important thing was that she knew she could use that new power to close the dark vortex that threatened the world she lived in.
"You should be resting." Varziel gripped her shoulders, lowering his body so that he was at eye level with her, "that is the reason why I had you sent back. I will finish this fight soon and co back to you." He pushed back a few strands of hair that had fallen over her head before raising his lips to kiss her on the forehead.
Arella felt her cheeks heat up thanks to his actions.
She caught his wrist before he could fully pull away. Her grip, though gentle, was firm. It was enough to make him pause and look at her in confusion. Arella looked into his eyes. The dark red pools that stared back at her focused only on her at that mont. She could see the fatigue in his eyes. Fatigue that had co about as a result of him holding the weight of protecting the demon realm all on his shoulders.
"No." Her voice was soft, but her voice held a deeper resonance. It was definitely her voice, but it now carried the weight of sothing ancient within her.
Varziel looked at her again, this ti his eyes also probing her. This was the closest that they had been without the urge to climb him like a tree filling her senses. The itch still lingered beneath her skin of course, but it was not as prevalent as it usually was.
Instead, seeing as she was so close to him, his demonic energy had washed over her. She could not feel it before, but now, she could clearly feel the comforting waves of power that emanated from him. It was like having a cold drink on a hot day.
Refreshing.
If Varziel noticed the change within her, he did not say anything about it.
"No?" His brows furrowed as if he was finally registering her words. "What do you an no? You just got hurt, and you wish to return to this battlefield again?" He shook his head, "I refuse. I do not want to think of what would happen or how I would live if I were to lose you my queen."
"I do not plan on dying anyti soon." Arella gave him a smile, "there is so much I wish to do with you." Varziel looked away. Arella placed her hand on his cheek, pushing his gaze back to her.
"You cannot do this alone. You *know* you cannot do this alone." Arella continued. Her heart felt warm. This demon. This cold yet warm hearted demon, was willing to have her stay in a comfortable place, was willing to have her not fight, despite the fact that she was an angel stronger than most of the demons who fought.
His desire did not stem from seeing her as weak. It stemd from the need to protect her from anything that would harm her.
"Thank you for caring for to this extent Varziel." She kissed his cheek, thankful that he had lowered his upper body such that they were eye level.
Varziel slowly turned his gaze to her. "I feel like you have made a decision on sothing I am not aware of."
Arella laughed. "How astute of you." She patted his cheek. "Sothing happened to after I got hit by the intruder. It is a long story, so I will tell you after we manage to close that vortex." They both glanced up at the sky at the sa ti, looking at the vortex that swirled above the demon realm.
Arella looked down first, and patted his cheek to get his attention. "Do you trust , Varziel?" She gave him a small smile after his attention was back on her.
Varziel, though obviously confused by the sudden question, gave her a nod. "I doubt there will be a ti where I do not trust you, my queen."
This ti, the smile that graced Arella’s lips was captivating, not in a seductive way, nor in an alluring way. Varziel was blinded by the quiet strength that her smile carried.
Yes. This was the angel she had fallen for.
She had always been like this ever since the first ti the two of them t. So sure of herself, so sure of her strength, and with so much trust in the people around her.
Yet here she was asking if he trusted her.
For what reason would he not trust her? He was no fool.
He pressed his cheek firmly into her palm, "of course I do trust you my queen."
"Great. I trust you too. I trust that you will never try to hurt ." She gave him that smile again.
Varziel was elated. He was now one of the people that she trusted. Or at least he was slowly becoming a person that she trusted.
"What we need to do next will require more than strength. It will require us to be closer than ever."
Varziel’s lips involuntarily pulled up into a Cheshire grin. "You an to tell closer than we have ever been in bed?"
Arella pinched his cheek, eliciting a yowl from Varziel. "Focus."
"Okay okay." He rubbed his cheek after she let go. "I am focused. What do you want us to do?"
"We must complete the bond." Arella’s voice was low, but Varziel heard her very clearly. His eyes widened very briefly before a flush climbed up his cheeks.
"What do you an complete the bond? Complete the bond here?" He looked around the battlefield. Then, he turned his gaze back to her. His previous surprised expression had lded into a flirty one. He wiggled his brows slightly, "I would not be against it if that is what you wish. But I would like to remind you that we are outside, my queen."
Arella blinked twice, before what he was suggesting finally sunk in. Her cheeks flushed a bright red and she gripped his cheek in a tight grip once more. Varziel cried out with the pinch.
"I have half a mind to smack you to next week." Arella huffed, and finally let go of his face. She turned her head in a futile attempt to cool her embarrassnt. "That is not what I ant, you incorrigible demon."
Varziel chuckled, rubbing his sore cheek with a grin that was far too smug for her liking. "Then perhaps you should choose your words more carefully, my angel. You said ’complete the bond’ with such solemnity. I could hardly be blad for imagining sothing far more... intimate." He wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her closer to him.
Arella rolled her eyes, but allowed herself to be pulled close to him. He played with the ends of her hair, as he looked down at her, listening attentively.
With the close proximity, however, Arella was now the one thinking absolutely filthy thoughts. The itch she felt whenever she was close to him had returned with the force of a tidal wave, washing over her entire being.
Her sex throbbed with need so raw, so much so that she was sure if he brough tup the topic of him taking her in the battlefield, she would agree.
