It’s been a few days since the incident with the Shade Stealer, and Soren had made it his duty to learn more about Shades.
So that what happened the last ti won’t happen again.
Or at least, he could be better equipped.
However, the topic of the Glass was a totally different matter.
While it seed only natural to know first about the place before its denzels, the Glass was treated as a separate subject.
Much like how Geography of the earth was different from the Anatomy of human beings.
Of course, he knew that the other races ca as a result of the Glass.
This was the first ti that he was hearing that the Glass was but a re Passage.
Tommy continued. "Explorers of the Glass having mapped a huge area of it, discovered the other worlds.
Coincidentally, I heard they also use Soul chas to fight Eldritch souls.
How incredible his that." Tommy eyes shone with a nerdy light. "We are of different worlds and still ca to the sa solution in the battle against the Eldritch horrors that threaten to end our individual worlds."
By now, Tommy was obviously in fan boy mode—leaning in to grab Soren by the shirt.
Soren did not mind.
In fact, he found it incredible that despite being on the hospital bed for so long, Tommy still sohow managed to have far more information than him.
Truly, the Bald boy was incredible.
"BREEEAAAD!" Cynthia raused her voice, and everyone turned to her.
She looked like she was fuming. But comically, her opponent, Pencil, also looked like he was fuming.
"Hey, guys. What’s the big deal?" He asked, acting as a diator.
"Soren, you have been my friend since childhood, right?" Pencil asked smiling his way.
Soren suddenly felt danger his way. He nodded, "yes."
"Good. So you’ll definitely be on my side, right? So tell this stubborn girl that you prefer Cake." Tommy turned about folding his arms against his chest, as if to say the case had already been solved.
Cynthia similarly turned to Soren—steam released from her helt.
She was also expecting him to take her side.
"Breeeaaad..."
’Shit, who told to co in between these two?
Cynthia is too passionate about bread. If I don’t pick her side, she will never let it go.
But if I pick her side, Pencil is going to feel absolutely betrayed.
What do I do?’
Soren found himself inbetween a rock and a hard place.
Even Bloodshine watched, shaking her head and feeling pity for him.
Tommy saw this and face pald. "Hold this for ." He handed his drink over to Polystar—who instinctively collected it before the noble boy realised he shouldn’t have.
Tommy rolled his wheelchair over. "Calm down! Calm down!
There is no reason for you two to argue about this. Honestly I dont see the difference between a cake and bread."
The mont he said that, both Cynthia and Pencil turned to him like he had just threatened to cut off their heads.
Soren took a step back, avoiding the conflict that would happen next.
However, he suddenly noticed Tommy’s side smile.
Then he realised.
’Is he intentionally taking the bla for ?’
"You know what, I’ll cut you guys so slack and divide everything up for you guys." Tommy explained as he waved a hand.
"Unravel."
His purple soul energy caught the cake and the bread.
—evenly making slices. And then.
An energy flicker.
Boom.
Cake and bread exploded on everybody’s face.
A pause.
Then Soren burst into laughter, Bloodshine joined him, and then Cynthia.
Even polystar.
"Enough of THIS!"
Everyone turned.
A side if the room. It was Vass.
’Oh, he hadn’t said anything since, I totally forgot he was here.’
Vass stared at all of them. "The winter gas are coming, and you all are busy eating cake." His knitted brows moved from Pencil to Soren.
~Silence.
"Forget about it." He turned, and left the room.
Bang.
The door slamd behind him.
"What’s his problem?" Soren asked.
"He is obviouly still mad at you." Polystar answered.
"At ? What did I do?"
"You captured the Shade Stealer without him." Pencil replied, licking the cake bits off his body. "I know you don’t rember, but Vass’s party mber was a victim of the Shade Stealer."
"And what does that have to do with ?"
"Well... I heard he was bragging that he was going to kill the Shade Stealer and all." Pencil recalled. "Then you went and unexpectedly did him in."
"That does nøt remind . Did you guys hear about the Shade Stealer’s death?" Bloodshine suddenly jumped into the conversation.
"Apparently he did nøt die in..."
The conversation faded in the background as Tommy stared at his hand—shocked.
Since the cake explosion, no one had noticed.
— fingers vibrating.
Breath heavy.
A hand suddenly rested on his shoulder, "... don’t you think so too?" Soren smiled.
"Huh... what?" Tommy looked up confused, subconsciously hiding his hand behind his back.
"I am saying how nice it would be if we were all in the sa party."
Tommy nodded like a pecking chicken. "Yeah... sure. That would be great."
Still the two did not notice Pencil’s worried eyes as he fiddled with his fingers behind his back.
After all, unlike the others, he could not join a party.
The gathering ended and everyone returned to their rooms, including Bloodshine that continually insisted on sleeping with Soren as it was her right as his wife.
She usually did not push for this, but the sugar from the cake and bread seed to have made her a bit extra.
Soren made a ntal note to not let her eat food with a lot of sugar in it.
Finally, they were all gone.
Soren was left alone in his room.
He took a quick shower before bed. But he did not sleep imdiately.
He had a lot of things to check on. Firstly, the reward for capturing the Shade Stealer had co in, and secondly, with Tommy back, he was ready to push with his plan of having his own party.
From what Soren heard, the reward for a party winning the Winter gas was about 500,000 thousand points.
This was incredible.
Of course, considering the fact that a lot of parties had up to 50 mbers, it was not viewed as a lot—as they would have to share.
Regardless, it was a lot.
The Shade Stealer, being cunning and strong seed as the ideal challenge for the Winter gas.
With what Soren had seen it do to all the top three teams in the loops, it was more than capable of handling the cadets year one to three.
There was also the fact that it had other Animavores and coukd control the Triplex Rot Hounds.
Of course, after its defeat, it no longer looked like such a big deal.
But Soren had been on hhe brunk of death because of it.
With a few clicks, the ssage icon popped up.
[Account credited]
[Reward Statent]
Fingers crossed, he opened the ssage.
[From the Academy:
Cadet Soren for your display of bravery against foes that threaten the sanctuary of the Imperial Soulforge Academy you have been awarded the dal of Valor.]
[Credit: 250,000 points have been added to your account.]
Soren shook his head. They did not give him the full pay.
Then again, what was he expecting? He had ruined the academy’s plan on making Shade Stealer the preh for the Winter gas.
They would have had to change plans yet again because of him.
ntally, he pictured the faces of the instructors, and nodded. "Yep. That’s definitely it."
[Debit: 100,000 points have been deducted for damage to school property.
Property damaged: cadet issued wristwatch]
"Shit! They were not kidding about the points deduction."
Although soren had already promised himself not to do such a thing again, he extra swore on it.
A hundred thousand points was just too much loss.
When though he was richer than most cadets, he now knew that it was nothing—if he wanted to beco a Soul cha pilot.
After all, he had no plans on relying on a noble family.
All of them were walking, breathing problems.
Soren cald himself down.
For the part of creating a party, he had long sent his application for it to the Admin building.
Forming a party had requirents.
Firstly, a party must be made up of more than two people.
For this part, he had Cynthia and Bloodshine agree the mont he brought if the idea.
Witha capable mind like Tomny joining in, it was bound to grow even more in the future.
He also wanted Pencil in his party. But Tommy was yet to shed his clown status in the academy.
If only Sophia was willing to help that ti.
Thinking this far, Soren wondered how he was going to get such talent in his party.
He had almost been on the brink of death, and she had saved him.
Sophia was a literal second life walking about.
Not just for his teammates. But especially for him.
What if sothing like what happened with Goldsworth happened again?
If he lost her, it would be such a sha.
The only problem was that she was heavily stubborn.
A plan ford in his mind...
(Author’s note: I am so sorry. I really need to be more organised. I have corrected it.)
