"That’s the thing. If there are any, they would be a secret." Doctor Kaya stated. "The academy does not force students to declare their abilities." She took a glance at him, then continued her work.

"If there is any, wealthy parties would have gobbled them up, binding them by either contract or Soul Oath."

"Ouch!" He complained as she stitched.

"I’d advice that you don’t go looking for them. I should assu that you are smart enough to know, but the fact that you are back here in less than a day, proves that I credited your intelligence a little beyond that of a platypus."

Soren raised a brow. "What’s that?"

"One of the many earth species that went extinct when the Eldritch souls invaded this world.

—a creature built like a mammal, duck, snake, and fish, all had a baby together."

"Urgh!"

"I know right."

"Now, I am going to say it, so listen. You are forbidden from gauntlet battles, searching for a Healer or moving an inch from your bed.

REST!

DO YOU UNDERSTAND?"

Soren was taken back by her tone.

He sighed to himself, and then nodded. "Yes, I understand."

"Good."

Even though she said this, she still had a peculiar look on him—as if to say, ’why the hell I’m I wasting my damn ti.’

"Okay. You are all patched up. Now leave my lab. You are disturbing my work."

He did not complain, rising with much difficulty, and gently rolling off the operating table.

Doctor Kaya disposed of the gloves she used, and proceeded to wash her hands in a sink.

"That’s reminds . Are you treating Cynthia well?"

He nodded, "I try."

"Good. Because she is precious." She turned and left the room.

Soren had to admit that the doctor’s attitude towards him had improved.

The first ti they t, she looked at him like he was lobster she wanted to peel open and suck on the soft insides.

—But now, she looked at him like a flower she was trying to guide to grow into a tree.

While that should be more comforting, it was not.

It gave him the faint sense that like a lumberjack, she could not wait for the wood to be just right so that it can be fell and used for a coffee table.

Soren shook those thoughts out of his head. Whether she had plans or not was not currently his business.

Everybody always had their secret agenda.

As things stood, he had much more pressing matters at hand.

The Shade Stealer, The attempt on his life, The upcoming Winter Gas.

And to top it all, Chronovore’s wound. After all, without his secret ace, he might actually die for real.

If he were to rank these things according to priority, then healing Chronovore was the number 1.

Number 2, was the attempt on his life.

Then all other things may follow.

Ding...

His wristwatch rang.

Soren turned to it.

[You Have Been summoned to the Admin block.]

[Failure to comply within allocated ti will result in Punishnt in the Detention center]

That sa ssage again.

Just then, the door slide open and Cynthia and Bloodshine walked in, worry evident in their steps, and action.

Bloodshine helped him wear his shoes properly—one at a ti.

Cynthia offered to carry him bridal style, but Soren only chuckled nervously at the thought.

When coming here and he was incapacitated—no problem. But now?

No.

He still had so man pride.

He would be too embarrassed to show his face out there.

Soren would rather walk through the pain.

And a painful walk it was.

Considering the fact that winter’s snow was getting worse, movent was very annoying.

But Soren moved as fast as he could, one arm over Bloodshine’s shoulder.

Along the way, Bloodshine even comnted on how strong she thought he was, moving with such an injury.

Soren simply smiled it away. However, his gaze moved from side to side.

From the Science research institute to the Admin block was not far at all.

In the previous loop, Soren was making the way from the Dormitory cafeteria to the Admin block when he was attacked and killed.

His Blackfield spread around, however, he could not sense anybody.

Maybe they are truly afraid of Cynthia to co close.

He thought to himself.

"We are nøt being followed." Bloodshine whispered.

"You can tell?" Soren asked surprised—after all, his Blackfield had a limit of 80 ters.

She nodded. "They are at least 150 ters away, but there are definitely following us."

She can sense them from that far?

Soren was shocked.

Blackfield was one of those abilities that was influenced by the rank of the individual—but only in the learning process.

To improve it, one needed to practice consistently.

It might have been a little over a month since they ca to school, but Soren had been practicing this Blackfield technique for more than a year now.

He only recently got the hang of leaving it active while he slept.

—still, from ti to ti, even he had to turn it off to relax.

With all this practice, he could only sense 80ters in all direction, but Bloodshine’s Blackfield went as far as 150 ters.

That was nearly double his.

Once again, this weird looking girl was more than what t the eyes.

She further stated that for so reason, they are not coming even closer.

Soren pointed at Cynthia.

"Oh... that does nøt make sense." She nodded.

"I still need to report to the Admin building." Soren stated.

The girls nodded and led him inside.

As they did, soone else was coming out.

Vass.

Soren wanted to say sothing Vass simply ignored him and walked away.

Vass had volunteered to et Instructor Eagle-wing eyebrows and convince him to cancel the Winter Gas.

From the look of things, that eting did not go well.

The lad grumbled continually as he left—every step lting the snow as he moved.

Soren, Cynthia and Bloodshine proceeded inside.

Soren suddenly rembered he did not know the instructor’s na.

He turned to Bloodshine, "what’s the na of the instructor teaching Neuralink chanics 101?"

The response he got from her left him stunned.

A few monts later, they were before her door. The na fra shocked him.

"Instructor V. IVORY."

"Shit..." Soren cursed.
