Chapter 75: Chapter 72: Dormitory
The boy, Little Tiger, had vanished. Just as everyone thought Mu Chen had blasted him off the arena, a figure fell from the sky. For so reason, however, the figure staggered and tumbled onto the arena floor.
"Wow, that hurts, that hurts! It’s killing !"
A howl erupted from the fallen figure. It was Little Tiger, the boy who had just clashed with Mu Chen. He was clutching his tan fist, blowing on it vigorously.
Mu Chen’s brow furrowed. He was utterly astonished. ’My own strength has reached such a level—over ten thousand pounds! Under the force of Little Tiger’s assault, I actually forgot to hold back and used my full strength. I regretted it the mont I unleashed it, and in my haste to pull back, I only managed to retract thirty percent of it. If it were soone of the sa level, a re seventy percent of that force would have been enough to shatter their arm. If their constitution was weak, it might have even killed them outright.’
But the result was far beyond his expectations. Seventy percent of his power had rely sent Little Tiger flying. And at the mont their fists collided, he was horrified to feel that his opponent’s strength was only twenty percent less than his own. That was why the arena couldn’t withstand the trendous force and had crumbled beneath them.
Clenching his fist, Mu Chen felt a faint flicker of excitent for so reason. ’This is... the feeling of having a rival.’
"Wow! You’re so strong! I’m the strongest person in my tribe, but I didn’t expect you to be even stronger than ! Wow! Grandma was right, people from the city really are strong!" The boy nad Little Tiger’s expression suddenly turned simple and honest again, as if he were one person in a fight and a completely different person otherwise.
"You’d better be careful, okay? I’m gonna use my full strength now. It might be really strong, so if you think you can’t take it, you should just jump off and give up."
After speaking, under Mu Chen’s strange gaze, the boy began to take off his clothes. The mont he had stripped them off, a gray set of shackles appeared before the countless students. These shackles bound his limbs and torso, their Locking Chains etched with ancient script. All the lines of text originated from a pentagonal tal plate on Little Tiger’s chest.
Everyone was horrified. Standing on the high platform, Vice-Principal Di Cang suddenly took two steps forward, stunned. "Power Shackles... they’re actually Power Shackles! Heavens! Just how much power does this kid have that he needs to seal it with Power Shackles?"
"What?! Power Shackles? Aren’t those special shackles used to capture giant, Power Type Magical Beasts? How can they be used on a human? That thing can seal half of one’s own power!" an instructor exclaid in shock.
The rest of the crowd stared with wide eyes, their gazes fixed on Arena 99. The fights on the other arenas once again ca to a halt as everyone turned to look.
’Power... Shackles?’ Mu Chen was dumbfounded. How could he not know what these were? ’It sealed half his power? In that case, does that an his strength is actually no different from mine?’
KLANG! CRACK! CRACK! BOOM!
Just then, Little Tiger twisted a knob on his chest. The Power Shackles clattered heavily before crashing to the ground with a loud BOOM. A mont later, a blood-red word, "Power," appeared on Little Tiger’s chest. The character was like a brand etched into his skin, emitting an eerie glow.
"Are you ready? I’m coming for you! You have to jump off the stage if you can’t take it, or you’ll die." After saying this, the boy nad Little Tiger stomped his foot and charged toward Mu Chen. With the boost in power, Little Tiger’s speed increased severalfold. In a flash, he appeared before Mu Chen, raised his tan fist, and swung it in a huge arc, smashing down on him...
The montum of this punch was too fierce. The unrivaled power actually caused the space in front of Mu Chen to distort for a mont.
BOOM!
The entire plaza shook violently. Arena 99 was already obscured, as Little Tiger’s punch had kicked up a cloud of dust.
BOOM!
BOOM! BOOM!...
Although obscured by dust, intense rumbling sounds still ca from within. Rings of air blasted out from the arena, quickly blowing the dust away and revealing the scene inside. But to everyone’s surprise, Little Tiger was already panting heavily, while Mu Chen, in contrast, still looked completely calm.
"How is that possible? How can you have so much power? I don’t believe it! Hah, Heaven-Shaking Fist!" With a great shout, the boy nad Little Tiger raised his arm, lifting his fist high above his head. A mass of earthen-yellow Primordial Power swirled around his fist, and an orange Martial Ring appeared at his feet. Before Mu Chen could react, he violently swung a punch that seed to contain the power of heaven and earth.
This punch unleashed all of Little Tiger’s strength, and he had even used a Combat Skill. But what shocked most of the students wasn’t the absolute, oppressive power of his Heaven-Shaking Fist. It was the single orange Martial Ring at his feet. The mont it appeared, it captured everyone’s attention. "A First-Ring Martial Master!"
"A First-Ring Martial Master! That little brat is a First-Ring Martial Master! That’s heaven-defying! He can’t be more than fourteen this year, right? How could his Cultivation be so fast?" one student exclaid.
"Tsk, tsk. Looks like a prodigy is going to appear in the Imperial Academy this year," the bald instructor who had shouted earlier remarked, walking over to Vice-Principal Di Cang.
Di Cang slowly turned his head, looked at the bald man, and said, "Zhun, you’re wrong. Not one, but two."
The mont his words fell, an intense silver light erupted from the center of the plaza. Everyone turned to see the boy, Mu Chen, his entire fist bursting with blinding silver electricity. Countless arcs of lightning coursed up his arm, while similar bolts of Thunder surged at his feet.
"Thunderbolt!"
With a sharp cry, Mu Chen launched himself forward like a flash of lightning. He still hadn’t drawn upon his own Primordial Power, instead relying only on external energy to execute his Thunderbolt Fist. As such, his true Martial Artist Realm remained hidden from the crowd.
CRACKLE!
With a peal of thunder, Mu Chen’s fist crashed into Little Tiger’s. A huge roar erupted. To the astonishnt of Little Tiger and the crowd, the earthen-yellow light on Little Tiger’s fist was instantly shattered, and Little Tiger himself was sent flying backward like a broken kite.
This sudden turn of events stunned countless people. So began to murmur, "Who on earth is this blue-haired boy? He’s so formidable! He hasn’t used any Primordial Power this whole ti, yet he’s taking on a First-Ring Martial Master’s Combat Skill with pure physical strength!"
*Pfft...*
With a muffled grunt, Little Tiger suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood in mid-air and imdiately passed out. But surprisingly, he didn’t fall to the ground and suffer a second injury. As he was flying backward, a black figure flashed behind him and caught him.
"Sigh! You two... it’s just a test. Was it really necessary to wreck my perfectly good plaza like this?"
The speaker was Vice-Principal Di Cang. After catching Little Tiger, he extended his right hand, and a vast amount of Primordial Power flowed into Little Tiger’s body. In less than a mont, the unconscious boy woke up. He was still a little dazed at first and actually called Di Cang "Grandpa," making the Vice-Principal blush beet-red.
"And you." After speaking, Di Cang shot Mu Chen a harsh glare. "Forget it. I’ll deal with you two later. You both don’t need to continue the test. You can beco official students of the academy directly."
With that, Di Cang gave Mu Chen a look, then took Little Tiger to the high platform. Mu Chen gave a wry smile and rubbed his nose, sighing to himself, ’Looks like I overdid it this ti.’ He then leaped up onto the high platform as well.
After getting on the platform, Di Cang turned to look at Mu Chen with a teasing glint in his eyes. The gaze made Mu Chen shiver, and he subconsciously looked away, feigning an interest in the patterns on the stone slabs at his feet.
Di Cang ignored Mu Chen and said softly to the bald man beside him, "Zhun, take these two boys directly to their dormitory."
"Hm? Of course!" Zhun was taken aback for a mont before nodding in agreent. He knew these two kids were anything but ordinary.
"You two, co on." With that, Bald Zhun was the first to leave the plaza. With uneasy hearts, Mu Chen and Little Tiger slowly followed, leaving behind the group of people participating in the second round of tests, as well as the twenty-seven attribute martial artists with looks of disbelief on their faces. They looked at Mu Chen and Little Tiger with expressions of confusion, disdain, or anger. They didn’t understand why these two were being led into the academy ahead of schedule. But it was a decision made by the Vice-Principal, so they were helpless and could only continue to watch the ongoing second test from the high platform under the scorching sun.
On a path inside the academy, Mu Chen and Little Tiger curiously sized up the school, which was widely recognized as the best in the Empire. In terms of luxury, it could even be compared to the Imperial Palace. Upon entering the academy gates, one faced a thick, high wall. Inside that wall was the vast plaza where the students had just registered. He had heard that it was where the academy held various events, such as registration.
Next, after continuing forward from the plaza and entering another large gate, one would reach the real academy. It could be said that everything before was just the outermost periphery of the academy.
Only after entering this second gate could one be considered to have reached the true academy buildings. The first thing that ca into view were three magnificent, giant structures. Without needing to think, Mu Chen knew these must be the so-called teaching buildings. At that mont, Bald Zhun, who was walking in front, spoke up. "That’s the first-year teaching building. The students who registered outside will gather here after passing the tests. However, official students can enjoy so of the school’s preferential treatnts. The teaching buildings for the second to sixth years are deeper inside."
Mu Chen and Little Tiger both nodded. Bald Zhun smiled slightly. "I forgot to introduce myself. I am the General Director for all grades, Zhun Cang. You can call
Deputy Director Zhun."
"Hello, Deputy Director Zhun!" Mu Chen and Little Tiger shouted politely in unison. It was only then that Mu Chen understood why this bald man always seed to have an astonishing aura. A person who could beco the General Director for all grades must have a high Martial Artist Realm.
"Mhm. From now on, you’ll be first-year students here. Now, I’ll take you to your dormitory." Zhun Cang’s voice was very gentle, without a trace of the fury he’d shown earlier.
Mu Chen wore a calm expression, while Little Tiger at his side was exceptionally excited, constantly asking Deputy Director Zhun what a "dormitory" was. His childlike curiosity left Mu Chen speechless. ’He even started to wonder if Little Tiger had two souls in his body,’ he thought, ’which would explain why his aura in battle is completely different from his everyday deanor.’
