Chapter 73: Chapter 70: The Second Test

"Sister Bingling, I knew I’d find you here! The Academy is recruiting today, let’s go check it out." The girl in the red dress, smiling sweetly, grabbed Mu Bingling’s hand and shook it gently a few tis. Then, while Xuan Yu was still in a daze, she pulled Mu Bingling away, and they vanished in a few quick leaps.

Only after the two had completely disappeared did Xuan Yu snap out of it. Seeing that Mu Bingling was gone, a nacing glint flashed through his eyes before he quickly followed after them.

On a road not far from the plaza, the figures of the girl in red and Mu Bingling reappeared. Mu Bingling looked at the girl and shook her head helplessly, saying softly, "Junnyao, you’re still so impatient."

The girl in red, nad Junnyao, was none other than Wang Junyao, the young lady from the Wang Family of Luofeng City from three years ago. Wang Junyao pouted and said in a huff, "Hmph, I just can’t stand that Xuan Yu. He’s always pestering you, Sister Bing’Er, the hypocrite. Are you heading to the plaza again?"

Mu Bingling sighed softly, nodded, and continued walking toward the plaza. Wang Junyao glanced at Mu Bingling, hurried to catch up, and asked quietly, "Sister Bing’Er, I know this is rude, but I’m just so curious. Who is that person? Who could make our academy’s number one goddess so preoccupied that she has to search among the new students in the plaza every year during recruitnt?"

Mu Bingling gave Wang Junyao a deep look and shook her head. "His na... is Mu Chen..."

"Mu Chen!" Wang Junyao exclaid. She quickly looked around, and only after seeing no one nearby did she pat her chest, staring at Mu Bingling in disbelief. "I knew you two knew each other, but isn’t he your younger brother, Sister Bing’Er? And he’s... he’s..."

"A cripple?" Mu Bingling smiled faintly. "You’ve all only seen the surface. He... is a genius..."

A gentle breeze swept by. In a corner of the plaza, Mu Chen stood there, utterly bored. Around him, so of the youths who had passed the Primordial Power purity test kept glancing at him with strange expressions. The reason was none other than the enormous black case on his back.

Mu Chen chose to simply ignore these looks. Just then, several of the examining instructors handed their records to Vice President Di Cang. The old man gave them a cursory glance and said with a smile, "The quality of students this year is the highest it’s been in years. A full two-thirds passed the first round, and among them are ten students whose Primordial Power purity reached High Grade. I am very pleased. If these ten students pass the second test, they will imdiately beco official students."

The mont Di Cang finished speaking, an uproar erupted from the crowd below. The Academy was fair, after all. As for attribute martial artists, they were sought after by every academy, so it was understandable that they received special treatnt. This had already been publicly stated in the Academy’s recruitnt policies.

However, a Martial Artist’s high Primordial Power purity only ant that their Combat Skills were more powerful when released; it didn’t guarantee the heights they could reach in the future. Therefore, the Academy still needed to test their practical combat abilities.

Once everyone had quieted down, Di Cang announced loudly, "Everyone, please clear the central area of the plaza. The second round of tests is about to begin." After speaking, Di Cang turned to the instructors behind him and said, "Go down and get things in order."

A dozen or so instructors nodded. In an instant, white Elental Wings unfurled in unison as they all flew into the crowd. Within monts, they had cleared out the central area of the plaza.

Just as the instructors finished clearing the area, Mu Bingling and Wang Junyao arrived near the plaza. Looking at the familiar scene, Wang Junyao smiled, scanned the entire area, and finally shifted her gaze to the viewing platform. "Sister Bing’Er, it looks like a lot more people passed the first test this year than usual. And there are twenty-seven attribute martial artists, too."

Mu Bingling nodded, her expression unchanging. "Yes, quite a few more than in previous years."

As she said this, Mu Bingling wasn’t looking at the viewing platform at all. Instead, her eyes were constantly searching the crowd for sothing. Just then, an instructor spotted her and said with a smile, "Isn’t that Mu Bingling from the Holy Hall? Here to watch the new student tests again this year?"

Hearing this, the other instructors all turned to look at Mu Bingling. Seeing that it was indeed her, they all offered friendly smiles. Clearly, these instructors had t Mu Bingling before.

Mu Bingling nodded to the instructors and said no more. The other instructors, familiar with the girl’s personality, didn’t mind. However, so of the applicants below saw Mu Bingling and Wang Junyao appear at the sa ti and were stunned, as if by celestial beings. In an instant, a wave of discussion swept through the entire plaza.

Many of the male applicants were gawking, drool practically dripping from their mouths. In contrast, most of the female applicants lowered their heads, feeling inferior, while a few who considered themselves sowhat attractive showed disdainful expressions.

"Tsk, tsk... Look at that face, that figure... If I could just get her into bed..." one young man said, his eyes lewd as he clicked his tongue.

A person next to him said disdainfully, "Soone like you, getting her into bed? Do you even know who she is?"

The young man rubbed his nose and gave a couple of awkward laughs. "I was just thinking about it, just thinking... But yeah, who is she?"

"Heh, you guys don’t know, do you?" The disdainful person puffed out his chest, looking arrogant. The others were imdiately intrigued and started asking. His vanity satisfied, the young man closed his eyes for a mont and said, "She’s the number one beauty of the Imperial Academy, Mu Bingling. She’s also a Core Disciple of the Holy Hall. I heard she cos to the plaza every year to watch the recruitnt tests. People guess she’s looking for soone. And look, here she is again this year, isn’t she?"

"Hey? How do you know all that, buddy?" another person asked, walking over.

The young man suddenly looked a little embarrassed. Under the barrage of questions, he finally gave an awkward smile. "This is my third ti applying. She showed up the last two tis as well. I heard countless people have tried to pursue her, but that ten-thousand-year-old-ice expression of hers makes them shrink back in defeat. I’ve also heard that among the Core Disciples of her year, she’s the strongest of her level. Even disciples from Noble Families and the Royal Family can’t get within a single step of her. So, the students gave her a title... the Ice Goddess."

"So that’s how it is!" Everyone ca to a sudden realization, and they all started looking at Mu Bingling as if she were a true goddess.

At that mont, Mu Chen, who was standing in the corner, naturally heard the crowd’s chatter. Mu Chen, who had been spacing out from boredom, suddenly jolted awake when he heard the na "Mu Bingling." Following everyone’s gaze, he saw a stunningly beautiful woman. In three years, the cute and pretty girl had grown into a graceful and otherworldly young woman. Her elegant aura was like an Ice Lotus, sacred and inviolable.

’Are you here for ?’ A sour feeling welled up in Mu Chen’s nose. He stared intently at Mu Bingling and subconsciously began to walk forward. However, the giant black case on his back was very long, and it imdiately knocked countless applicants aside, causing many of them to start roaring in anger.

"Fuck, you little shit! Are you fucking asking to die?" one of the knocked-over applicants cursed. But Mu Chen turned a deaf ear, continuing to push forward step by step. His heart was filled with anxiety. This corner was the farthest from the viewing platform, and the crowd between them was dense. It was naturally very difficult for him to squeeze through.

"Fucking hell, you think you’re so great carrying that coffin? Stop fucking shoving!" another person yelled.

Soon, countless people started cursing at Mu Chen. Slowly, their insults brought Mu Chen back to his senses. Hearing what they were saying, his expression turned cold. "Get lost!"

The Pure Elental Power inside him instantly erupted, sweeping out in a five-to-six-ter radius. The people around him were staggered by the impact of this power, their faces filled with horror. In an instant, an empty zone appeared around Mu Chen. Everyone turned to look. On the viewing platform, the instructors only felt a brief, instantaneous surge of Primordial Power, but Mu Chen was quickly spotted nonetheless.

"Is that also an applicant from this year?" Di Cang frowned and asked the other instructors.

The instructor who had registered Mu Chen recognized the giant black case on his back at a glance. He quickly stepped forward and nodded. "Yes. I was the one who tested his Primordial Power purity."

Di Cang glanced at the instructor and asked, "Then what was his Primordial Power purity?"

"Middle Grade," the instructor answered without hesitation.

"Only Middle Grade?" Di Cang frowned. Judging from the burst of Primordial Power just now, its purity was definitely higher than Middle Grade. But he couldn’t be certain at the mont, so he had no choice but to send an instructor over to resolve the trouble.

Up on the viewing platform, Mu Bingling had naturally also seen the blue-haired young man with the giant black case. A sense of familiarity washed over her, but his current appearance was too different from the Mu Chen of three years ago; it was as if they were two different people. Although the young man before her was slender, he was much more built than the Mu Chen from three years prior. Most importantly, Mu Chen’s hair was black, while this young man’s was blue. Their facial features were also quite different. On top of that, Mu Chen was at the edge of the plaza, a great distance from the high platform, making it difficult to even see his face clearly under normal circumstances.

Sighing, Mu Bingling thought she was just seeing things because she missed him too much. After searching the crowd once more, her expectant look faded into faint disappointnt. ’How much longer will you make

wait...’

Suddenly, a mist ford in Mu Bingling’s blue eyes. She squeezed them shut, and that stubborn yet frail figure appeared in her mind. With another sigh, Mu Bingling slowly turned to leave, her retreating figure looking so desolate. But just then, a figure flashed out from the side. Mu Bingling focused her gaze and saw that it was none other than Xuan Yu, whom they had ditched earlier. The mist in her eyes instantly receded, and Mu Bingling once again put on her appearance of Ten Thousand Years Profound Ice.

"Little Sister Bingling, are you looking for soone?" Xuan Yu asked.

"Is there sothing you need?" Her words carried no emotion; Mu Bingling didn’t answer his question.

Hearing this, Xuan Yu’s mouth twitched twice. A sharp glint flashed through his eyes and was gone in an instant. He had just seen the fluctuation in Mu Bingling’s emotions. As a Prince, if he didn’t even have that level of perception, what hope did he have of competing for the throne in the future?

"Do you need my help to find them?" Xuan Yu still maintained a humble and amiable appearance, but inside, he was already wondering just who Mu Bingling was waiting for.

"If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving." Her tone was the sa. After speaking, she turned, took Wang Junyao with her, and walked around Xuan Yu. In a few leaps, they once again vanished from his sight.
