Chapter 61: Chapter 58: Venerable Beast
Even Qin Wu felt a little flustered looking at the scene before her. She could clearly feel an intense, suffocating pressure emanating from within the mountain—a suppression she had never experienced before. ’Is this really the phenonon of a Jade Transformation Crystal being born?’
It wasn’t just Qin Wu who felt this oppressive force; all the Martial Artists had different reactions. The lecherous look on the fat Martial Sect’s face had vanished, replaced by an expression of terror. Everyone saw the fear on his face, and they were all in disbelief.
Turning to look at the other two, the white-robed, sword-bearing old man had an incredibly grim expression. Eight blue Martial Rings flashed dazzlingly under his feet in the dark night, but everyone knew he had been forced into a combat stance.
The only one who remained calm here was the black-clothed man with the Dark Attribute. The man’s expression was indifferent; he rely looked surprised as he watched the mountain below, but more than that, he was curious.
Three people, three different states, but the signal they sent to everyone was crystal clear: they were all in danger.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The mountain continued to tremble, the fissures growing ever larger. Beams of intense light shone out from within as the mountain began to break apart, and a ball of blue light rose from its center.
THUMP-THUMP... THUMP-THUMP...
The eerie heartbeat made everyone’s nerves stretch taut. So Martial Artists, their eyes wide, roared, "What... what is that?!"
Everyone followed the man’s shout and looked toward the sky. What was it? It was a pure, flawless blue crystal. They would have sworn they had never seen such a pristine shade of blue. The crystal, shaped like a hexagonal pyramid, hovered in the air like a diamond. Light reflecting off it scattered in every direction, creating a multicolored aurora.
THUMP-THUMP... THUMP-THUMP...
There it was again—that eerie heartbeat. With every beat, the blue crystal’s light dimd slightly, making it seem like a heart, constantly contracting. Even more irresistible was the powerful, primordial will it emanated. Just sensing it for a mont was like glimpsing an ancient world.
The heartbeat continued, its light unfading. Suddenly, the blue crystal erupted in a shower of blue starlike specks. The scene was so beautiful it left everyone srized.
But beautiful things are often deadly. After the eruption, so of the specks spattered onto the shattered mountain rocks. In an instant, any rock touched by a speck transford into a giant Ice Crystal.
In a matter of seconds, everything the specks touched was frozen solid, forming a Profound Ice World. Unfortunately, many Martial Artists were also hit by these specks and instantly turned into ice sculptures. Their companions tried to rescue them using Primordial Power, but to their dismay, even power at the Martial Spirit Level couldn’t leave so much as a scratch on the Profound Ice.
"What on earth is this thing?" Qin Wu stared blankly at the sky. For so reason, she had a feeling that the blue crystal wasn’t the most terrifying part. It seed like sothing even more dangerous was about to erge.
"What is that?" Still a few minutes’ journey away, Mu Chen saw the dazzling blue crystal in the sky and was utterly horrified. From his vantage point, he witnessed the full formation of the Ice World.
The Profound Old Ghost’s expression was grave. He sighed. "That is what I told you about... the Extre Ice Attribute Spirit."
"What? But isn’t the Extre Ice Attribute Spirit supposed to be protected by an Ancient Strange Beast?"
The Profound Old Ghost shook his head. "It seems we won’t be needing the Water-Repelling Pearl. Iron Armor Steel Fang, speed up! We have to get there imdiately."
As soon as he finished speaking, the Profound Old Ghost’s figure vanished. Mu Chen didn’t notice the look of grim determination that flashed across the old ghost’s face the mont he disappeared. Suddenly, as Mu Chen neared the location of the Extre Ice Attribute Spirit, a frigid current assaulted his body. As a re Seven-Ring Martial Artist, he was instantly covered in countless Ice Crystals.
Just then, however, a ball of red light flashed from his chest. The bone-chilling cold instantly receded, and the red glow even evaporated the Ice Crystals covering his body.
Touching a Jade Box on his chest, Mu Chen breathed out a puff of mist. Inside was the Fire Crow Grass he had bought at the auction house. Without it, he wouldn’t have been able to set a single foot in this place.
ROAR!
Seemingly sensing the oppressive pressure, Iron Armor Steel Fang, an Emperor-rank beast, let out an irritated roar. Its speed surged once more, and it charged headlong into the frigid wind...
On Cang Mountain Peak, the crowd of Martial Artists was frozen to the spot, unable to move a muscle. Another ball of light had appeared before them.
This ball of light was countless tis larger than the blue crystal. A slender figure could be faintly discerned within it, though it was too obscured by mist to be seen clearly. Yet, everyone could tell by instinct alone that this thing was definitely not human.
AWOOOO!
Just as everyone was staring intently at the ball of light, a savage howl erupted from within. A sonic wave laced with Primordial Power blasted outward. Seeing this, the fat Martial Sect was horrified. Then, he did sothing that stunned everyone. With a great roar, he lunged for the blue crystal. And strangely, despite its intense cold, the fat man managed to snatch it into his hand.
"Fools! This crystal is mine! You can have the Magical Beast! Hahaha!"
He laughed maniacally, but when he turned to see their expressions, he found them all staring at him in terror. No—they were looking *behind* him. Almost subconsciously, the fat Martial Sect whipped his head around. The mont he turned, a massive dark shadow flashed past him...
SHLICK!
In the instant the dark shadow flashed by, the fat Martial Sect saw a bizarre behemoth. Then, his vision vanished. His head had exploded into a fine mist of blood.
AWOOOO!
With a furious howl, the Exotic Beast in the sky was fully revealed. Only now could everyone get a clear look at it. It had the head of a Mad Wolf, the torso of a human, and the lower body of a Flood Dragon. It raised its two long, narrow arms above its head and roared at the heavens! Its sharp claws glinted with a bone-chilling light under the glow of the Extre Ice Attribute Spirit.
Abruptly, the Exotic Beast’s roar ceased. It lowered its head, its bloodthirsty eyes sizing up the hundreds of Martial Artists standing below.
GRRR-ROAR...
Seemingly thrilled, the Exotic Beast that could kill a Martial Sect master in a single blow suddenly revealed a cruel gaze. Its massive figure flickered and reappeared on a mountain crag where dozens of people stood. Seeing the beast materialize before them, everyone montarily forgot to flee. They could only watch helplessly as the Exotic Beast raised its right arm, an unprecedentedly vast amount of Primordial Power gathering in its claws.
BOOM!
As the claw descended, the space before the mountain crag distorted. A white claw mark flashed and vanished. The entire scene seed to freeze for a few seconds. Then, sothing happened that chilled everyone to the bone: the mountain crag that was just attacked had vanished. No, it hadn’t just vanished—the entire crag, along with all the Martial Artists standing on it, had been pulverized into dust by that single claw strike. Not even a shred of flesh remained.
"Shattering mountains and making space tremble with a single swipe... This is a Venerable Beast!" the white-robed, sword-bearing old man shouted in horror before his figure vanished. A mont later, he had reappeared over a hundred ters away, wings of energy already spread.
Thinking this distance was a little safer, the white-robed old man took a deep breath and channeled his Primordial Power more frantically to accelerate. But in the instant he did, a beam of blue light struck him head-on. Without even a chance to cry out, the old man’s body vanished from the face of the earth.
The Elental Power Cannon—a Combat Skill every High-level Magical Beast could use. Pleased with its handiwork, the giant Exotic Beast joyfully writhed its Flood Dragon tail. Mountain peaks struck by its tail crumbled into rubble, but the beast seed to feel nothing at all.
"Run!"
While the Exotic Beast was distracted, Qin Wu grabbed Xiaoyu, leaped into the air, and turned to flee. Rampant Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi surged into her body. A cyan Martial Ring materialized beneath her feet, and with a WHOOSH, a pair of cyan Elental Wings unfurled from her back. With a single step on the air, she shot several hundred ters away. Clearly, Qin Wu had once again used her powerful Secret Technique to raise her realm. In the five months since she’d last used it, she had progressed considerably. As a result, activating the Secret Technique instantly elevated her Cultivation from an Eighth-Ring Great Martial Master to a First-Ring Martial King.
If only she hadn’t run. Her escape imdiately caught the Exotic Beast’s attention. A disturbingly human-like, mocking smile appeared on its face. Its figure flickered and reappeared in the sky above Qin Wu. It swung its massive, long arm in a wide arc, bringing it crashing down on her...
BOOM!
Silence fell. All the surviving Martial Artists stared wide-eyed at the scene before them. That boom hadn’t co from the Exotic Beast’s claw striking Qin Wu. Instead, at the very mont the beast attacked, a silver beam of light had flashed from the sky, striking it squarely on the head.
The massive explosion flung the Exotic Beast dozens of ters into the air. The shockwave also knocked Qin Wu and Xiaoyu downward, conveniently putting more distance between them and their attacker. As a result, the Exotic Beast’s claw completely missed its mark.
ROAR!
BAM!
Another muffled impact. A silver figure shot past the recoiling Exotic Beast at lightning speed, its steel-like claws slamming viciously into the beast’s chest. The combined force of its speed and weight sent the Exotic Beast flying backward to smash violently into a mountainside.
ROAR!
Another enraged roar. All the Martial Artists turned in unison to look at the Magical Beast that had attacked the Exotic Beast. Its body was covered in shimring silver armor, its scales like countless razor blades. Its massive claws were a testant to its imnse power. Its silver pupils were grave, but within that gravity, a spark of battle lust was igniting.
If the majestic appearance of this Magical Beast was shocking, then the figure standing on its head was astounding. It was a human with a slender build, wrapped in a black robe, their face obscured by a Conical Hat. Yet this was the figure standing calmly atop the head of this incredibly fearso Magical Beast.
Who on earth could this person be? While everyone was still staring in a daze, Qin Wu flew back up. When she saw the Giant Beast and the person standing on its head, a knowing smile graced her beautiful face.
