Chapter 53: Chapter 50: The Auction Begins
"Gentlen, you’ve been following
for so long. Don’t you want to take a break?" Suddenly whirling around, Mu Chen’s gaze locked onto several positions. There was nothing but a vast expanse of white snow, not a single figure in sight.
A mont later, however, a figure materialized above the vast expanse of white snow. Imdiately after, more figures appeared one by one, following the first.
"So you’re Mu Chen, the one who offended Elder Yifeng?" one of the n, who appeared to be the leader, asked in a gruff voice.
Mu Chen smiled. "So what?"
The seven n in white before him remained silent, but their actions made their intentions clear.
BOOM!
With a dull thud, a powerful wave of Primordial Power erupted from each of the seven n as yellow Martial Rings materialized beneath their feet.
Mu Chen’s eyes narrowed, taking in their Martial Artist Realms at a single glance. ’One Nine-Ring Grand Martial Master and six Five-Ring Grand Martial Masters. Han Yifeng sure thinks highly of .’
"Prioritize capturing him alive. Kill if necessary," the leader ordered, ignoring Mu Chen. His eyes were icy, his tone devoid of all emotion.
"Yes, sir!" The other six, equally expressionless, acknowledged the order and shot toward Mu Chen, moving as fast as arrows.
Mu Chen was under no illusions about the situation. He could absolutely crush ordinary Martial Masters, and he could even contend with ordinary Grand Martial Masters with ease. His physical toughness had already surpassed the level of a Grand Martial Master, and with Furious Thunder Force and Broken Star, he was more than capable of putting up a fight.
’However, my chest is still throbbing with pain, and these people are clearly no ordinary Grand Martial Masters. The formation and coordination they displayed in their attack are far beyond what ordinary martial artists could achieve. They’re more like... a disciplined army. Or, more accurately, an organization.’
"Looks like I’ll have to ask for your help this ti, Iron Armor Steel Fang," Mu Chen said with a resigned sigh, stroking the creature sleeping soundly on his shoulder.
At his words, the soundly sleeping Iron Armor Steel Fang’s eyes snapped open. Its rciless, ice-cold silver pupils locked onto the six n lunging toward Mu Chen. With a piercing shriek, Iron Armor Steel Fang shot forward. The bladed scales covering its body sprang out one by one with a tallic SCREECH. At the sa ti, its body swelled from its once-tiny form, growing to two ters long and half a ter tall.
ROAR!
The roar shook the Azure Sky, and snow cascaded from the surrounding trees. The six charging n stopped dead in their tracks, staring in horror at the silver-armored Magical Beast before them. Their bodies began to tremble violently.
"This aura is..." the leader standing at the rear stamred, dumbfounded. He didn’t recognize this Magical Beast, but he could feel the chilling aura of death emanating from it.
ROAR!
With another thunderous roar, a powerful vortex of air erupted from Iron Armor Steel Fang. The vortex sent snow swirling high into the sky. Three dazzling purple Martial Rings materialized beneath its feet, and an unparalleled torrent of violent Primordial Power surged from its body, causing the very space around it to twist and distort.
Only then did the leader’s eyes widen in terror. "A Royal Beast!"
SPLAT! SPLAT! SPLAT!
Even as he spoke, the six n in white had been reduced to a shower of blood. The majesty of an Emperor is sacred and inviolable. Even a Martial Spirit Strong Person could not withstand a single blow from it, let alone a re Grand Martial Master. In the eyes of Iron Armor Steel Fang, these Grand Martial Masters weren’t even enough to get caught between its teeth.
’Run!’ That was the only thought in the leader’s mind after seeing his n annihilated in an instant. But no matter how he urged himself, he couldn’t take a single step, as if he were paralyzed.
Iron Armor Steel Fang watched the captain with a taunting gaze, a flicker of a human-like smile in its eyes. To the captain, however, that smile was no different from a demon’s grin.
BOOM!
A silver Elental Power Cannon shot from Iron Armor Steel Fang’s mouth. The captain was instantly annihilated within the blast, leaving not even a trace of his body behind.
In the span of a few breaths, seven powerful Grand Martial Masters had vanished from the face of the earth...
Frost Cold Town, despite its na, was no smaller than any city. This was due not only to its geographical location but also because it was the first settlent to rise in the Land of Extre Cold, giving it a much longer history than other towns. As a result, various comrcial industries had sprung up accordingly.
Auction houses were naturally one of the indispensable industries on the Extre Martial Continent. In a world where martial strength was paramount, Martial Artists devoted all their ti and energy to cultivation. To conveniently et their various needs, this industrial chain had co into existence.
The comrcial behemoths that controlled the continent’s trade were the Shanjin Comrce Association and the Yafeng Comrce Association. Frost Cold Town was one of the towns under the Shanjin Comrce Association’s monopoly. Today happened to be the day the Shanjin Auction held its once-a-year grand auction in Frost Cold Town. Hearing the news, Martial Artists from all the nearby towns flocked to the event. The already lively Frost Cold Town beca even more boisterous, and it seed as if even the surrounding air had ward up a little.
The Shanjin Auction house was a magnificent circular building. It was spectacularly tall, seemingly built to accommodate a massive number of people. On the wall above its entrance, the emblem of a golden hamr reflected the gentle sunlight, glinting with a peculiar brilliance.
A steady stream of people was already heading from the streets to the venue. Among them, a figure dressed head to toe in a black robe and wearing a conical hat appeared in the crowd. This was Mu Chen, just returned from outside the town. After Iron Armor Steel Fang had killed those seven n, Mu Chen had conveniently changed back into the black clothes he wore when he left Luofeng City.
He needed to exchange all the Demon Cores in his Storage Ring for Purple Elental Crystals before the auction began. He currently only had 37,000 Purple Elental Crystals in cash. According to the Profound Old Ghost, that amount of money would be practically nothing at the auction. The black robe and conical hat would conceal his age, offering him so protection. It was common for successful bidders to be robbed and murdered, so it was best to keep a low profile.
Upon entering the auction hall, he found the sight within even more spectacular than the exterior. Rows of curved seats were arranged in countless, descending tiers. At the very front was a huge, circular platform, which looked to be where the auction items were displayed.
Instead of following the crowd to find a seat, Mu Chen first found one of the auction house’s receptionists. He had to admit, the receptionists here were quite beautiful. They wore identical, form-fitting pink cheongsams that perfectly displayed their curves, and they all wore smiles that were pleasant and inviting.
"Excuse , miss." Mu Chen deliberately used his Primordial Power to alter his vocal cords, making his voice sound like that of an old man.
The receptionist imdiately turned to him. She didn’t seem surprised by his attire in the slightest and smiled. "Honored guest, how may I help you?"
Mu Chen inwardly praised the quality of their service. He cleared his throat. "Yes, I was wondering if it’s possible to make an exchange for Purple Elental Crystals here?"
The receptionist was taken aback for a mont, then she smiled. "Honored guest, this must be your first ti at the Shanjin Auction. Of course we can handle exchanges for Purple Elental Crystals. Please, follow ."
With that, the receptionist turned and led the way, her shapely hips swaying as she walked. Mu Chen followed silently. The path was clear, and when the receptionist stopped, Mu Chen saw they were at a small room. There were no decorations inside, only a long table where a white-haired old man was fast asleep, snoring loud enough to shake the heavens.
The receptionist’s face darkened, and her eye twitched. She went over and nudged the old man. "Elder Bai, Elder Bai! Wake up, soone is here to exchange for Purple Elental Crystals."
Only after the receptionist had nudged him several tis did the old man slowly wake up. As he lifted his head, a thin thread of drool stretched from the corner of his mouth to the tabletop. The bleary-eyed old man glanced at the receptionist who had woken him and mumbled, "What is it? What happened? Is the auction house on fire? If so, wait until the flas get here before you wake . I’m going back to sleep."
"Elder Bai, what are you talking about? The auction house isn’t on fire! Soone is here to exchange for Purple Elental Crystals." The receptionist shot Mu Chen an apologetic glance before pushing the dazed Elder Bai a few more tis.
Hearing that soone was there for an exchange, Elder Bai imdiately perked up. "Oh, is that right? Should’ve said so sooner." He looked Mu Chen up and down, but his enthusiasm instantly deflated. In a muffled, grumpy tone, he said, "Are you the one making an exchange? The auction house has a rule: we don’t process exchanges for less than ten thousand Purple Elental Crystals."
Mu Chen nodded. "I am. Before we proceed, I’d like to ask about your exchange rates. What do you offer for Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 Demon Cores?"
Seeing that they had begun their discussion, the receptionist tactfully withdrew, closing the door behind her. Elder Bai, who had been thoroughly uninterested, suddenly looked invigorated at the ntion of Level 3 and Level 4 Demon Cores. He quickly composed himself, however, and said nonchalantly, "A Level 1 Demon Core exchanges for ten Purple Elental Crystals. A Level 2 is thirty. A Level 3 is one hundred fifty. Level 4 is a bit pricier—one thousand Purple Elental Crystals per core."
’I see.’ Mu Chen stroked his chin, doing a quick calculation. He had one thousand one hundred Level 1 Demon Cores, seven hundred Level 2 Demon Cores, four hundred Level 3 Demon Cores, and one hundred Level 4 Demon Cores. If he exchanged all of them, he would get 192,000 Purple Elental Crystals. Adding the 37,000 he already had, he would have over 200,000. ’That should be enough to bid on a few things. As for those two Combat Skill scrolls, I’d better not exchange them. It’s best to keep a low profile and avoid any potential trouble.’
"Alright, I want to exchange all these Demon Cores, but this space..." Mu Chen gestured at the table, indicating it was too small.
Elder Bai was taken aback. Though his expression was one of confusion, he knew the auction house’s rules. If a custor requested a larger space, he had to oblige. And so, as Mu Chen watched, the Space Ring on Elder Bai’s finger flashed. A huge, circular tabletop-like object appeared out of thin air, landing steadily on the long table.
