Chapter 48: Chapter 45: Qin Wu

The old man, addressed as Elder Feng, chided, "You little bastard. I always tell you to focus on your cultivation, but you never listen. If you’d put in even the slightest effort, you wouldn’t be in this ss."

The old man, Elder Feng, glanced at Han Jun. Seeing his aggrieved expression, he sighed inwardly. ’Cold City is the only major city in this Snow Realm. Here, Cold City is as powerful as so of the mid-sized empires of the heartlands, its authority absolute.’

The young man before him, Han Jun, was the eldest son of Cold City’s Lord, Han Batian. His innate talent was extraordinary, rivaling even so of the most gifted Martial Artists. Yet, Han Jun had loathed cultivation since childhood, preferring instead to indulge his love for won. Whenever he had free ti, he would frequent the pleasure districts and act the part of a dissolute heir. Despite this, he had still reached the realm of a Second Ring Grand Martial Master by the age of sixteen. One could only imagine what he could achieve if he dedicated himself fully to cultivation—the title of Cold City’s foremost genius would undoubtedly be his.

Just a mont ago, one of Cold City’s vassal families had found him and told him Han Jun was in trouble at the Celestial Fragrance Pavilion in Frost Cold Town. He had rushed over imdiately. Fortunately, Cold Frost Town was just a small town within Cold City’s jurisdiction, only fifteen minutes away. If it had been any farther, he might not have made it in ti to help.

Hearing Elder Feng’s reprimand, Han Jun lowered his head like a chastened child, not daring to et his gaze. Seeing Han Jun’s behavior, the old man’s expression softened before he turned to glare furiously at Mu Chen. "I don’t care where you ca from, and I don’t care what your reasons were for injuring my Han Family’s guards. You’re the first person to co to Han Family territory and act so arrogantly. Today, I, Han Yifeng, will find out just what gives you the right to be so brazen."

At these words, Mu Chen couldn’t help but chuckle. Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, he said, "Heh... Am I the one being arrogant? Fine, then. I’m arrogant. What are you going to do about it?"

Mu Chen had just told himself that with power, he would never again let anyone trample on his dignity. ’You say I’m arrogant? Then I’ll show you what arrogant really looks like.’

"Good! Good! Good! You’ve got real nerve. Nether Fla Palm!" After saying the word ’good’ three tis, Han Yifeng ford a palm with one hand. Imnse Primordial Power condensed above his wrist, forming a massive Palm Seal of green, burning fla. The Palm Seal was a full half-ter long. It gathered power for a mont before striking down at Mu Chen.

The attack was ferocious, bringing with it a scorching wave of heat as it smashed down on Mu Chen. His expression grew incredibly tense. This was his first ti facing a direct attack from a Martial Spirit Strong Person, and a Seven-Ring Martial Spirit at that. He had no choice but to use his full strength to resist.

"Mist Step!"

CRACKLE...

With a soft crackle of thunder, Mu Chen’s body blurred into an afterimage and shot away from his original position. This speed was several tis faster than when he had dealt with the Cold City Guards, like a bolt of lightning streaking across the room. Han Yifeng’s Nether Fla Palm slamd into empty air. A deafening BOOM echoed as a one-ter-wide, three-ter-deep palm-shaped crater appeared on the floor of the Celestial Fragrance Pavilion. The stone around the crater had been scorched black. The sight of such power made Mu Chen’s face pale. ’A single, casual strike has this much destructive force.’ Mu Chen knew that if he had been hit, he would have been crippled, if not killed outright.

But what Mu Chen didn’t know was that while he was marveling at Han Yifeng’s power, Han Yifeng was even more astounded. He was a Seven-Ring Martial Spirit! An attack he had unleashed with half his power had been dodged by a re kid at the Third Ring Martial Artist Realm. The realization was not only shocking, but also a great loss of face.

"Kid, you really do have the skill to back up your arrogance. But unfortunately for you, you should have learned so humility. Hah!"

With a great shout, Han Yifeng’s aura surged violently. A vortex of dark green energy erupted from his body with a WHOOSH. In that single instant, Mu Chen was overco with a dire sense of danger. It was the feeling of death.

"Die!"

With a furious roar, Mu Chen felt an imnse pressure bear down on him. Imdiately after, Han Yifeng’s figure appeared before him in a flash. His palm was outstretched, a ball of green fla floating above it. He thrust forward, aiming straight for Mu Chen’s heart.

Mu Chen’s pupils contracted violently. Without being summoned, the Star Mark on his wrist flashed. The Shattered Star Lock Chain shot out from his sleeve, its sharp Spiral Blade spinning at high speed as it lunged for Han Yifeng’s right eye. The sudden attack made the hairs on the back of Han Yifeng’s neck stand on end. Forgetting his attack on Mu Chen, he instantly redirected his outstretched palm, swatting the Shattered Star Lock Chain and sending it flying sideways.

SHINK!

A soft piercing sound echoed as the Shattered Star Lock Chain buried itself deep into the right-hand wall of the Celestial Fragrance Pavilion. An incessant CRACK-CRACK-CRACK followed. Centered on the chain’s blade, a half-ter-wide hole instantly ford in the wall, and chunks of rubble ca tumbling down with a RUMBLE.

Han Yifeng’s face was a mask of horror. ’If I hadn’t deflected that chain,’ he thought, ’I would have been decapitated.’ While he was still reeling from the shock, Mu Chen suddenly moved. Condensing a faint red Primordial Power in his left hand, he appeared behind Han Yifeng in a flash. Before Han Yifeng could react, Mu Chen threw a punch, aiming straight for the center of his back.

Han Yifeng never imagined that a re Martial Artist like Mu Chen would dare to make a move on him. Furthermore, he was still reeling from the power of the chain, so his guard was down. This was what allowed Mu Chen to circle behind him. But in that critical mont, the combat experience of a Martial Spirit Strong Person shone through.

Mu Chen’s fist, carrying the force of a thunderbolt, landed solidly on Han Yifeng’s back. But upon impact, he felt a dark green Elental Barrier instantly form. His Fist Power striking the barrier felt like punching solid steel, and a sharp pain shot up his arm. However, this was a full-power strike from Mu Chen. Even with the protection of the Elental Barrier, Han Yifeng’s center of gravity was thrown off, and the blow sent him stumbling forward, sprawling onto the ground.

A dead silence fell over the room. Even Han Jun, who had retreated all the way to the entrance, stared wide-eyed, his jaw hanging open. A mont later, a series of sharp, incredulous gasps echoed from the second floor of the Celestial Fragrance Pavilion.

"This..."

"Is he even a Martial Artist?" one of the patrons murmured.

"I must be dreaming." So patrons were vigorously rubbing their eyes, not even noticing they had rubbed them raw. They simply couldn’t believe the scene before them was real. A young Third Ring Martial Artist had actually sent a Seven-Ring Martial Spirit sprawling with a single punch. Although the Martial Spirit wasn’t injured, the fact that a Third Ring Martial Artist could knock the great Han Yifeng to the ground was sothing completely unheard of.

anwhile, the slender figure standing behind the red-beaded curtain was utterly astonished, her dark eyes shimring with an unusual light.

WHOOSH...

Han Yifeng quickly scrambled to his feet. With his back still to Mu Chen, his entire body trembled uncontrollably. The shaking lasted for a mont before he suddenly snapped his head around. The sight made Mu Chen recoil in shock. Han Yifeng’s features were completely twisted with rage. His narrow eyes were bloodshot, and his already flushed face was now mottled with a sickening green, making him look utterly terrifying.

"You’ve done well! It’s been years... so many years since I’ve wanted to kill soone this badly! You will die today!"

Following his frenzied roar, Han Yifeng’s body suddenly swelled to twice its original size. His once-withered fra instantly filled out, covered in bulging, corded muscles. Thick, throbbing veins writhed across his arms and neck.

"Hahahaha! Now die!"

With a roar, Han Yifeng vanished. As if sensing the danger, the Shattered Star Lock Chain rapidly coiled around Mu Chen in a defensive posture. But just as the defense was set, a giant Iron Fist appeared right in front of his chest.

BOOM!

With the deafening sound, the Shattered Star Lock Chain protecting Mu Chen was blasted apart. BAM! Han Yifeng’s fist, wreathed in green Primordial Power, slamd viciously into Mu Chen’s chest.

CRACK!

Accompanied by the sound of shattering bone, a large section of Mu Chen’s chest imdiately caved inward.

GACK! A mouthful of blood, mixed with chunks of flesh, sprayed from his lips. Mu Chen’s face turned deathly pale. He was sent flying backward like a ramrod and, with a sickening THUD, beca deeply embedded in the wall.

"Pfft!" Coughing up another mouthful of blood, Mu Chen’s breathing beca ragged. His entire body felt broken. The excruciating pain in his chest seared his nerves, keeping him from passing out. He knew this injury was far more severe than any he had suffered in the past year. But supporting him through the pain was his unyielding will. In that mont, he didn’t wonder why his beloved Master hadn’t intervened, or why Iron Armor Steel Fang, still feasting at the table, hadn’t so much as glanced his way.

In truth, Mu Chen didn’t know that the instant Han Yifeng’s attack landed, Iron Armor Steel Fang had beco enraged. A bloodthirsty light glead in its silver, triangular eyes. It was about to charge out when a flicker of confusion crossed its face. It then suppressed its fury, closed its eyes, and went back to feigning sleep.

"Hehehe, kid. I thought you were so tough?" Han Yifeng stuck out his bright red tongue, licking a drop of Mu Chen’s blood that had splattered onto the corner of his mouth. He grinned ferociously, his bloodshot eyes watching Mu Chen with cruel amusent. "You’re the first person in all of Cold City to make , Han Yifeng, look like a fool. You’re famous now. It’s just that the price of this fa is rather high. Now, die!"

With that, Han Yifeng stepped forward once more. His giant Iron Fist swung out again, tracing a green arc through the air as it locked onto Mu Chen’s head. Watching the giant fist get closer and closer, Mu Chen knew that if it connected, he would have absolutely no chance of survival.

Feeling the whistling Fist Force bearing down on him, Mu Chen slowly lifted his head, a bitter smile on his lips. ’Is this how my life ends? I refuse to accept it... Sister... Chen’Er misses you so much...’

Suddenly, Mu Bingling’s ethereally beautiful face appeared in his mind’s eye. Her own eyes were filled with tears as she softly whispered the words he had longed for day and night...

"Chen’Er, I’ll wait for you..."

In a flash, Mu Chen’s expression changed. His resigned face instantly beca one of fierce resolve. An icy aura exploded from his body. Deep within him, nine revolving cores inside his Dantian erupted with a multicoloured radiance, illuminating its center until it was completely transparent. The blue core, representing the Ice Attribute, shone with a light far more dazzling than any of the others.

"I can’t die here! HRAAAAAH!"

With an explosive roar, a five-ter-wide blue hurricane erupted with Mu Chen at its center, churning up from the ground with countless streams of frigid air. Han Yifeng froze for an instant, but showed no sign of pulling back his punch. His fist continued its trajectory, slamming straight into the heart of the newly ford blue hurricane.
