Chapter 39: Chapter 36: Separation

"ROAR?"

The Iron Armor Steel Fang, which had already charged at the Profound Old Ghost, suddenly felt a terror that stemd from the depths of its bloodline. That aura, that terrifying shadow buried in the heart of every Magical Beast, was instantly released and magnified. For a mont, the Iron Armor Steel Fang, a Royal Beast, trembled violently under this aura, as if it had just encountered its natural predator.

"ROAR..."

With a low growl, the blood-red color in the Iron Armor Steel Fang’s eyes rapidly receded, replaced by a look of reverence. The next mont, the Royal Beast did sothing that no one could have expected... It actually prostrated itself in mid-air, lowering its proud head.

This act didn’t just stun the Profound Old Ghost, who was in the middle of casting a Secret Technique; even Mu Chen, inside his own body, was left dumbfounded. At the sa ti, a few Martial Spirit Strong Persons who wanted to watch the spectacle had gathered in the sky. What they saw was a Giant Beast, over thirty ters long, obediently prostrating itself before a young boy. The visual shock of the scene made every one of them gape, montarily forgetting to even breathe. Because when a Magical Beast assus this posture before you, it ans it has surrendered.

But what left them all speechless was that this master could have been an old man with a profound cultivation realm, or a middle-aged man. What they never could have imagined was that the one to whom this Giant Beast submitted was a boy who looked no older than fourteen or fifteen.

The Profound Old Ghost clicked his tongue in wonder. "This is quite an unexpected situation. Could it be that soone still recognizes

after a hundred thousand years?"

He let out a dry cough. Seeing that people were gathering around, the Profound Old Ghost frowned. A powerful surge of Primordial Power erupted from his body, knocking out all the surrounding Martial Spirits with devastating force.

For a mont, the sky was filled with Martial Spirit Strong Persons falling like raindrops. Then, the Profound Old Ghost turned his gaze back to the Iron Armor Steel Fang and said indifferently, "You’re not bad. You know when to advance and when to retreat. Don’t tell

you recognize ?"

Hearing this, the Iron Armor Steel Fang lifted its head just enough to see the blue-haired boy before it. It nodded, then shook its head, letting out a few low grunts.

"Oh? So that’s how it is." The Profound Old Ghost spoke eloquently, a particularly punchable look on his face. "Considering your Cultivation wasn’t easy and that you know when to back down, I’ll spare your life for now." Suddenly, his expression changed again. He looked coldly at the Iron Armor Steel Fang and said with indifference, "However, you’ve made a grave mistake today. As punishnt, you will serve as this boy’s Guardian Beast for three years. When we return, we will naturally let you go. Do you agree?"

Upon hearing this, the Iron Armor Steel Fang imdiately shook its head like a rattle drum. The Profound Old Ghost flew into a rage. "Very well! Then you can stay here forever."

With that, the Profound Old Ghost resud the Hand Technique he had paused, moving faster and faster. The pressure of Primordial Chaos in the air grew stronger, and a rumbling sound gradually filled the sky. Plus of mist gathered behind the Profound Old Ghost, and slowly, a massive, shimring silhouette began to appear. This silhouette was enormous, but perhaps due to insufficient Primordial Power, it was extrely distorted. Combined with the obscuring mist, it was difficult to discern what the silhouette was.

The Iron Armor Steel Fang, still prostrated before him, trembled even more violently. It was completely unwilling to beco soone’s servant. But when it raised its eyes and glanced at the silhouette in the sky, a familiar feeling surfaced from the depths of its mind.

"ROAR! ROAR..."

Letting out two quick, low roars, the Iron Armor Steel Fang adopted an even more reverent posture. If before it had judged this person to be unprovokable based solely on the fear in its bloodline, now, based on the sight before it, it knew this person was the legendary figure who had shaken the world. Encountering him ant either great fortune or death.

After hearing these two low roars, the Profound Old Ghost’s expression softened slightly. He said coldly, "Hmph. One step later and you truly would have died here."

He still didn’t withdraw his Hand Technique. His purple eyes stared at the Iron Armor Steel Fang, his threatening intent perfectly clear.

The Iron Armor Steel Fang nodded repeatedly and shut its triangular eyes tightly. The next mont, its entire body seized up and began to convulse. With a pained, low roar, a drop of golden blood flew out from between its brows, hovering in front of the Profound Old Ghost.

A flash of light crossed the Profound Old Ghost’s purple eyes. He gently wrapped the drop of golden blood in Primordial Power and guided it into Mu Chen’s forehead. An arcane connection was instantly established in his mind; it seed he could now control the Iron Armor Steel Fang’s life and death with a single thought. Only after doing this did the Profound Old Ghost nod in satisfaction and withdraw his Hand Technique.

"Alright, shrink your body a bit. It’ll be inconvenient to take you places otherwise."

The Profound Old Ghost spoke to the Iron Armor Steel Fang in a commanding tone. The beast nodded, let out a low roar, and transford into a Silver-armored Little Beast the size of a hedgehog. The Silver-armored Little Beast glanced back at the sharp blades on its body, closed its eyes, and with a series of silver flashes, the blades retracted with a ZT-ZT-ZT-ZT sound. Its whole body beca incredibly smooth, even reflecting a tallic sheen in the sun.

It had to be said, once the incomparably ferocious Iron Armor Steel Fang shrank down and retracted its blades, it actually looked rather cute. Now, it more closely resembled a young Pangolin.

The Profound Old Ghost smiled and nodded. His soul quickly separated from Mu Chen’s body and floated down beside him. At the sa ti, all the changes to Mu Chen’s body vanished. The waist-length blue hair instantly shortened and turned back to black. The purple eyes slowly closed, and the black eyeliner-like outlines faded away.

After erging, the Profound Old Ghost first sent out a wisp of Primordial Power to keep Mu Chen hovering in the air, preventing him from falling.

And as the Profound Old Ghost left his body, Mu Chen’s soul, which had taken a backseat, regained control. But when sensation returned to his whole body, he felt that his affinity with Primordial Power had increased significantly. Curious, he circulated the Primordial Power within him and imdiately discovered that the sensation of it flowing was much clearer than before.

’This is a huge gain. Being able to grasp the flow of my Primordial Power more clearly ans I can control it with greater precision and unleash even more strength.’

Seeing Mu Chen and the Profound Old Ghost separate, the Iron Armor Steel Fang looked at Elder Xuan with a questioning gaze. With a single look from Elder Xuan, the beast shot onto Mu Chen’s shoulder with a WHOOSH and gently nuzzled his cheek as a sign of affection.

Mu Chen chuckled and gently stroked the Iron Armor Steel Fang’s back. He then frowned, looking inside his own chest. There, a red-and-blue droplet was whimpering softly. Patting his chest gently, Mu Chen knew there was sothing even more important to deal with...

"Sigh..."

With a sigh, the Profound Old Ghost said softly, "Everything depends on your own fortune now. This is no place to talk. I’ll take you sowhere more secluded."

With that, the Profound Old Ghost pulled Mu Chen along, turning into an afterimage and vanishing from the spot. Aside from the lingering fluctuations of Primordial Power, the area was as silent as it had been at the start.

「A quarter of an hour later.」

Under the Profound Old Ghost’s pull, Mu Chen appeared at the foot of a mountain. Before them was a protruding rock face, pitted and uneven, clearly weathered by the passage of ti.

"Alright, kid, this spot will do," the Profound Old Ghost said indifferently as he set Mu Chen down.

Mu Chen was surprised. "What’s the difference between here and before?"

"Silly boy, didn’t you just subdue a Royal Beast?" The Profound Old Ghost laughed heartily and winked at Mu Chen.

To be honest, Mu Chen was ecstatic about gaining the Iron armor Steel Fang. Although he’d promised to let it go after three years, for the next three years it would be an extra layer of security in the dangerous Demon Beast Forest. Of course, unless absolutely necessary, he would never expose the Iron Armor Steel Fang’s true strength or allow himself to beco reliant on it. ’I have to beco strong on my own.’

After receiving the command, the Iron Armor Steel Fang shot the Profound Old Ghost a resentful look. For a Three-Ring Imperial Beast like itself to be reduced to a tool for digging caves—how could it not feel aggrieved?

It shot off Mu Chen’s shoulder, its body suddenly enlarging in mid-air. With a CLANG-CLANG sound, its blades shot out all over its body, and it charged violently at the rock face. In no ti, a massive cave appeared before Mu Chen.

The speed of its digging left Mu Chen dumbfounded. ’So the Iron Armor Steel Fang not only has powerful defenses and sharp weapons, but also this kind of ’iron rice bowl’ digging ability.’ Mu Chen praised it inwardly, ’A Royal Beast, through and through.’

If the Iron Armor Steel Fang had heard that, it would have coughed up blood from anger. Having finished digging the cave, it once again reverted to its cute Pangolin form, draped itself lazily on Mu Chen’s shoulder, and pretended to nap with its eyes half-closed.

Mu Chen smiled faintly and quickly walked into the cave. The cave faced the sun, so it was reasonably bright inside. Just as he entered, his chest twitched twice, and then the Sun and Moon Immortal Spirit drilled its way out. It shot an angry glare at the Profound Old Ghost before turning to look at Mu Chen with a complicated expression.

Mu Chen gave a bitter smile and said, "Little Spirit, there’s no need to be confused. This person is my Master, the sa one who sealed you all those years ago. And as for ... my initial goal in being with you all this ti was to obtain you, to make you a part of my power."

At his words, there was no resentnt or anger on the Sun and Moon Immortal Spirit’s adorable little face, only a profound sadness. Ever since its birth, it had lived each day in constant fear, so it had learned to hide itself from the very beginning. For over a hundred thousand years, the only person it knew was itself. It was lonely. It only wanted to find soone to play with, with no ulterior motives.

A hundred thousand years ago, it t the first person it had ever seen. He was an incredibly handso man. It was very scared and nervous, but deep in its heart, there was a glimr of hope—a hope that this person would talk to it for a while, that he would play with it. It mustered all its courage to reveal itself and appear before him.

But before it could even say a single word to the man, he sealed it away. It was terrified. It was afraid. It was full of regret. No matter how it struggled against the Seal, no matter how it begged, the man ultimately did not spare it. He ruthlessly suppressed and sealed it at the bottom of the Sun and Moon Pool, where it languished in bitter silence for over a hundred thousand years. And that man was the Profound Old Ghost, now standing beside Mu Chen with a remorseful sigh.

Seeing the sadness on the Sun and Moon Immortal Spirit’s face deepen, Mu Chen felt a pang in his heart. He said softly, "Little Spirit, let

finish... In the beginning, that was indeed my goal. But later, after spending ti with you, I saw your innocence, your cuteness, your liveliness. And... I saw the sa deep loneliness buried in your heart as is in mine."

"You’ve seen my arm, right? I only have one. I’ve been a cripple since I was young—my Dantian destroyed, my body incomplete. From childhood, no other kids wanted to play with . They all mocked

and played tricks on . But I was a little better off than you, Little Spirit. I have parents who dote on , a sister who loves

very much, and a... Master who always looks out for ."
