Chapter 173: Chapter 168: Huge Gains
"You were defeated?" The white-haired elder didn’t quite understand.
Aiolos nodded, the sound of tal scraping against tal ringing out. "I was. I’ll show you sothing, and then you’ll understand."
As he spoke, Aiolos raised his arm and slowly circulated his Primordial Power. With a WHOOSH, two red shackles of Primordial Power materialized on his arm. The white-haired elder looked on in confusion. "A Power Seal? But what does that have to do with you being defeated?"
Aiolos tapped his head, his voice muffled. "I forgot. Back when I fought you, I hadn’t even released a single layer of the seal. My Power Seal has six layers in total, and the power released by each layer is double that of the previous one. Now, I only have two layers of the Power Seal left. Do you understand?"
"What?! You... you’re saying you released four layers of your Power Seal while fighting this kid and you *still* lost to him?" The white-haired elder’s jaw dropped. He had personally experienced just how terrifying Aiolos’s power was. Even without releasing a single seal, his strength was already over 30,000. Just how imnse would Aiolos’s power be with four layers of his seal released?
Aiolos chuckled. "That’s why I said the kid is a monster. But I never said I couldn’t beat him even after releasing four layers of the Power Seal. It’s just that for a little guy who’s only a Three-Ring Martial Spirit, the mont I had to release the *first* layer, I had already lost."
The white-haired elder gave Mu Chen a long, deep look and muttered, "I understand this kid less and less."
"Alright, I only ca out of the tower to bring this kid out and to get a feel for the current environnt of the Extre Martial Continent. My ti is about up, so I’ll hand him over to you. But I need you to pass a ssage on to him for ." Aiolos glanced around at the blue sky, handing Mu Chen over to the white-haired elder as he spoke quickly.
The white-haired elder raised a hand, and without any visible effort, Mu Chen’s body floated gently to his side. Looking at Aiolos, the white-haired elder said, "Go ahead. I’ll pass it on."
Aiolos said, "With his current strength, a perfect clear of the twelfth floor is already his limit. The next Guardian will definitely be one from the Beast Spirit Dao. You must understand, every Magical Beast of the Beast Spirit Dao possesses a trace of a Primordial Bloodline. Following this kid’s pattern of clears, the Puppet Dao ends with . The next floor will likely feature a Beast Spirit Guardian from the twenty-third floor or even higher. I won’t say their strength is greater than mine at my peak, but it isn’t much weaker. Even with their Martial Artist Realm suppressed by the Tower of Calamity, they are not soone this kid can defeat right now. Unless he reaches the Martial King Realm, he absolutely must not set foot in the Tower of Calamity again. I’m pinning my hopes of release on him. This already touches upon the secrets of the Tower of Calamity, so I can’t say more. In short, take good care of this kid. His future is limitless. Uh... looks like my ti is up. Rember, until he’s a Martial King, he must not enter..."
Before Aiolos could finish, another pillar of red light shot out from the top of the Tower of Calamity, enveloping him completely. In less than an instant, Aiolos’s figure vanished from the Outer Realm.
The white-haired elder stared at the Tower of Calamity for a long ti before finally turning his gaze to the unconscious Mu Chen. The elder reached out and gently placed a palm on Mu Chen’s back. As he closed his eyes, a strand of powerful Primordial Power shot directly into Mu Chen’s body. At that very mont, the Extre Spirit Pearl residing in Mu Chen’s mind suddenly began to spin. A milky-white mist surged directly into Mu Chen’s Dantian, shrouding it completely.
A massive black vortex suddenly appeared within the white-haired elder’s consciousness. A huge Dantian floated above the vortex, emitting a dazzling blue crystalline light, brimming with Primordial Power.
The white-haired elder frowned, puzzled. ’This is an Ice Attribute Dantian. Other than its Primordial Power being a bit purer than an average person’s, there doesn’t seem to be anything special about it.’
With that thought, the white-haired elder spread that wisp of Primordial Power throughout Mu Chen’s entire body. Just then, the Extre Spirit Pearl once again spewed out a puff of milky-white gas, rapidly shrouding Mu Chen’s mind and the White Dragon Cauldron in his chest. With that, Mu Chen’s three most critical points were all concealed by the milky-white mist.
’Tsk tsk, this kid really knows how to risk his life. He was already down to one arm and still pushed it like this. Nearly eighty percent of the muscles in his entire arm are torn. Without High Level elixirs or dicinal Herbs, he wouldn’t be able to lift it for over a month. Good thing he ran into . I might as well fix you up while I’m at it.’
A sharp glint flashed through the white-haired elder’s eyes, and a ball of gentle, white Primordial Power appeared in his palm. In truth, this Primordial Power wasn’t pure. If one looked closely, they would see that it was mixed with hints of green. When this green-tinged Primordial Power seeped into Mu Chen’s arm, his entire arm began to convulse as if stimulated.
The elder’s brow furrowed. He muttered in a low voice, "Looks like it’s a bit more serious than I thought."
After speaking, the white-haired elder increased the output of Primordial Power from his palm and, at the sa ti, retrieved an erald-green elixir from his Storage Ring and stuffed it into Mu Chen’s mouth.
The process of healing Mu Chen’s arm was quite long, taking the white-haired elder a full ten minutes from start to finish. Only when Mu Chen’s arm stopped convulsing did the elder let out a long breath and curse, "From this day on, this old man will never heal anyone again! What a joke! I am a purely offensive Martial Artist, yet today I stooped to playing support for this brat. Hmph, you got off easy!"
As he spoke, the white-haired elder raised his left hand and pointed his index finger to the sky. A dazzling Sword Aura shot from his finger straight into the Azure Sky. BANG! With a sound like a mirror shattering, a huge, transparent barrier of light suddenly appeared. It was there for such a brief mont that it vanished before anyone could even notice it.
From a distance, the light barrier seed to envelop the entire Xuanling Empire. The white-haired elder clapped his hands and chuckled. "Good thing I shielded the entire Xuanling Empire when this kid got his first perfect clear. Otherwise, there’s no way you all would have been able to watch the show so peacefully."
’But what I find strange is that this kid’s physical strength is indeed several tis greater than an ordinary person’s, but it’s not *this* astounding, is it? Could it be that he possesses several powerful Secret Techniques?’ After doing all this, the white-haired elder wore a pensive expression. In the end, having co up with nothing, he shook his head and gave up on the thought.
’Forget it. There’s no point in
racking my brain over it right now. I’ll just find so ti to test this kid later and I’ll know.’ With that thought, the white-haired elder waved his hand. A golden light instantly enveloped Mu Chen. Under the elder’s control, Mu Chen’s body shot through the clouds with a WHOOSH and plumted rapidly toward the ground.
BOOM!
A loud crash echoed from below. The white-haired elder gave a sly chuckle. "That should wake him up." The mont he finished speaking, his figure flickered and vanished from the sky without any perceptible movent. The surrounding white clouds drifted on the wind, as if nothing had changed.
Before the Tower of Calamity, countless students stared wide-eyed at the empty, dust-shrouded area. A student from the Demon Castle tugged at Qiu He’s sleeve and asked, "Vice Class President, what was that golden ball of light just now?"
Qiu He snapped back to his senses, closing his gaping mouth. He mused, "Could it have been teorite Iron?"
"teorite Iron? No way. Doesn’t teorite Iron fall from the heavens? How could the impact from sothing falling from that high up be so small?" another student pointed out, hitting the nail on the head.
Qiu He laughed awkwardly. "I was just guessing. But why would sothing suddenly fall from the sky for no reason?"
Di Cang and the others exchanged glances. They had also overheard the students’ conversation and imdiately dismissed Qiu He’s theory. But in all these years, they had never seen anything fall from above the Tower of Calamity except for people. Wu Changqing frowned and said, "Old Cang, I think I saw a human figure inside that golden ball of light. Did you notice?"
Di Cang shook his head. "I was focused on the Tower of Calamity and didn’t pay attention to the golden glowing object. By the ti I noticed it, it had already landed."
Wu Kui curled his lip. "You’re all crazy. If you want to see, just blow the dust away."
With that, Wu Kui waved his palm. His Primordial Power condensed, and a hurricane-force wind swept through, instantly clearing the dust and revealing the scene within.
Enveloped in that golden ball of light was a slender figure. When the students of the Demon Castle saw the figure within the golden light, they all froze for a mont, and then a sky full of cries erupted.
"Mu Chen!"
"Brother Mu Chen!"
"Captain Mu Chen!"
"Class President!"
The chorus of calls stirred Mu Chen’s unconscious mind. His consciousness had already begun to return from the shock of the fall, and now, summoned by everyone’s voices, Mu Chen’s brow furrowed tightly. His sealed eyelids gradually opened, his vision returning. When he saw the Demon Castle students clearly, he managed a weak smile. "Everyone..."
As he spoke, Mu Chen pushed himself up and slowly stood with everyone’s help. Once on his feet, Mu Chen looked at his left arm—the one injured during his clash with Aiolia—with surprise and confusion. ’Strange... My arm was clearly heavily injured. Even with Top Grade Elixirs and dicinal Herbs, it should have taken at least a week to heal. But now... it’s completely recovered...’
"Mu Chen, are you alright?" Mu Bingling quickly ca over and asked with concern. Mo Qing was right behind her, and from the look on his face, it was clear he was no less worried about Mu Chen than Mu Bingling was.
Mu Chen looked up at Mu Bingling and smiled faintly. "I’m fine. Just a bit puzzled by sothing." After speaking, Mu Chen imdiately sank his consciousness into his Dantian. Upon seeing the four ice spikes protruding from the nine irregular crystals, the corners of his lips curled up slightly. A glint of confidence flashed in his closed eyes as he whispered, "This trip to the Tower of Calamity... was full of surprises..."
