Chapter 118: Chapter 115: The Strange Egg

Chen Wenfu’s brow smoothed out. "Patriarch Wang’s analysis is spot on," he said with a smile. "In that case, let’s head in."

Wang Mo nodded. "Yes, let’s go in."

At his words, everyone went on high alert. Only Mu Chen scanned the surroundings one last ti, from top to bottom. After confirming there were no imdiate dangers, he was the last to enter.

There was only a single passage inside, but it was clearly man-made. Before long, the group arrived in a chamber at the passage’s end. There was nothing inside but a bed and a round table, both carved from stone. Still, the simple furnishings hinted that the cave was ancient.

"Patriarch Wang, are you ssing with us?" Li Zongtang’s expression turned utterly grim when he saw this was the end of the line.

Wang Mo gave Li Zongtang a cool glance and smiled. "What’s the rush? Didn’t I tell you this place is filled with Restrictions? Can’t you see that our surroundings are just an Illusion Realm?"

"An Illusion Realm?" Li Zongtang said doubtfully, looking at the surroundings that he could both see and touch.

Wang Mo explained, "This room is, in fact, an Illusion Realm. However, the bed and the table are real, which is why it tricks you into thinking this is the end. At the ti, my family’s guards also thought this was just a place where soone once lived. But as one of them looked around, preparing to leave, he found he could pass straight through the wall and appear in a different scene."

"So that’s how it is." Li Zongtang’s expression softened a little after hearing Wang Mo’s explanation.

Wang Mo continued, "However, this Illusion Realm is a bit strange."

"Strange?"

"Correct. It’s random—a random teleportation, to be exact. Even if we enter from the sa spot and in the sa direction, we will all be sent to different places. Moreover, after multiple tests by my family’s guards, we’ve found that everyone is sent to a unique location. In other words, you have to explore the Illusion Realm alone," Wang Mo said faintly, his eyes sweeping over the surrounding walls.

This made both Li Zongtang and Chen Wenfu frown. If what Wang Mo said was true, then their plan to ambush and kill the mbers of the Wang and Mu Families inside the Emperor’s Relics would fail. But on second thought, they could just kill them all after they ca out with their rewards. They would have to turn on each other sooner or later anyway.

Unbeknownst to the others, a slight smile touched Mu Chen’s lips. Behind his closed eyelids, the white imprints spun continuously. The Restrictions of the Illusion Realm around him dissipated like mist in the wind, and gradually, the true face of the cave revealed itself to him.

To Mu Chen’s astonishnt, once the illusion was broken, everything around him beca clear. It was a massive cavern, its size simply staggering.

"The Cave of Ten Thousand Bones..."

That was the cavern’s na. Floating all around were various glowing spheres, their colors and altitudes varying slightly. For instance, so of the closer spheres emitted a soft white light, while those a bit deeper glowed yellow, and those deeper still were red. The height of the spheres also varied, and their colors changed accordingly—the higher they floated, the deeper their color.

Through these spheres, Mu Chen could clearly see the items placed inside. He could only describe the collection as a dazzling array: various Cultivation Techniques, Combat Skills, weapons, materials, and dicinal Herbs. However, he could tell at a glance that the items in the white and yellow spheres were only around the Yellow Tier. Only the items in the red spheres were relatively precious. Mu Chen silently counted; there were only three red spheres in the entire cavern. One contained a red Scroll. Mu Chen guessed it must be a Combat Skill, as he could feel a surge of violent Primordial Power from it.

Another held a peculiar longsword. From a distance, it looked like only a Sword Hilt. It was only when Mu Chen circulated his Primordial Power to his eyes that he finally saw the sword’s blade. It was as thin as a cicada’s wing—truly, as thin as a cicada’s wing! The 1.2-ter-long blade was so fine it was almost invisible.

’It’s definitely a sword of Profound Tier or higher.’

Looking at the last red sphere, he saw it contained a Jade Box, which likely held so kind of dicinal Herb. Ever since acquiring the White Dragon Cauldron, Mu Chen had been eager to learn about alchemy. Unfortunately, the Profound Old Ghost had fallen into a deep slumber before he could teach him, so Mu Chen couldn’t help but feel drawn to any dicinal Herbs he saw.

However, among all the glowing spheres, the one that attracted him the most was a unique, pale gold one. Its position was also strange; it was both the highest and the farthest away. Judging by its location, it had to be the most precious of all the treasures. Yet, what was inside the sphere was not a weapon, not a Scroll, not materials, and certainly not dicinal Herbs. It was a book!

Because it was so far away, Mu Chen could only make out that it was a book; he couldn’t see the words written on it. However, he knew that no one used books to record Combat Skills or Cultivation Techniques. No one knew why, but everyone on the Extre Martial Continent knew that anything recorded in a book was definitely not a Combat Skill or a Cultivation Technique. So what exactly was recorded in this book that it needed to be placed in such a hidden spot?

Pushing the question to the back of his mind, Mu Chen scanned all the spheres once more. He realized that there were only a few so-called masterpieces among them. But that was only relative to him. For the other families of Luofeng City, every single item in the yellow spheres was a treasure.

But right now, only Mu Chen could tell where these items were. He discreetly pulled Mufeng to his side, and his Kan Realm Spiritual Power instantly enveloped them both. Mu Chen whispered, "Father, when you go in a mont, enter from the side of the stone bed and walk straight ahead. Walk for about ten kiloters and stop. There’s a red Scroll there. Take it. No matter what you see or encounter on the way, even if it’s a rock wall, ignore it and just keep walking forward."

"That red Scroll is about fifty ters up in the air. Once you get close to it, you’ll be able to see its true form. Also, when you take the Scroll, make sure you’re facing it, because there’s sothing else you need to get there." As he spoke, Mu Chen began to calculate distances, a calculating look flashing in his eyes.

Mufeng was stunned by his words. But then he noticed Mu Chen looking around, muttering to himself from ti to ti. Suddenly, Mufeng seed to realize sothing, and his face paled in shock. "Chen’Er, you... you can see through the Illusion Realm here?"

Mu Chen had just finished his calculations. He smiled and said, "Yes, I can see through the Illusion Realm. After you face the Scroll, drop straight down from the air. Then, move five kiloters to your left and walk forward another seven kiloters. You will see a longsword with only a Sword Hilt. Don’t hesitate. Take it."

Mufeng swallowed hard. He realized just how right he had been to bring Mu Chen along.

"How many items are there in total?" Mufeng asked.

"Around forty or so, but they’re quite scattered. That Scroll and the longsword are probably the best items here. The rest are just so Yellow Tier or White Tier items, nothing of much use."

Hearing this, Mufeng was rendered speechless. Yellow Tier and White Tier items were of "no great use"? If anyone else heard that, they would surely scoff in disdain.

Just then, the group finally decided to enter the Illusion Realm. Although they all knew they would appear in different locations, they feared this information might be wrong and that others would try to snatch their prizes. So, everyone chose a different entry point. Mufeng walked naturally to the side of the stone bed. Mu Gu Tian shot him a questioning glance but said nothing.

Following that, everyone began to walk into the Illusion Realm. Mu Chen was the last to go in—well, perhaps "go in" wasn’t the right term; "walk through" would be better. But when he turned to look back at everyone, he was stunned to find that they had all stopped just one step inside. Each person’s face showed a different expression: fear, anger, lust, gloom, and even boisterous laughter. Among them, only Mufeng kept walking forward with his eyes closed, his expression resolute.

But the beads of sweat trickling down his temples showed that Mufeng’s journey was not an easy one. Mu Chen’s eyes flew open, a flash of purple light vanishing in an instant. In his demonic pupils, the six white snowflake imprints never stopped spinning. With a push of his foot, he leaped dozens of ters in a single bound. Just like that, he sprinted forward, his target the pale gold sphere.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed from behind him—the sound of clashing Primordial Power. Mu Chen turned and saw Chen Wenfu and Li Zongtang attacking each other. Li Zongtang roared, "You vile beast! How dare you block my path!"

Chen Wenfu, however, sneered. "Hmph, what can a monster made of a pile of rocks do to ?"

Shaking his head, Mu Chen knew just from their words that they had both fallen into the sa illusion, rely playing different roles. ’It seems Wang Mo was wrong. It’s not that everyone is sent to a different place. It’s that once you’re inside, the Illusion Realm will transform even your allies into monsters in your eyes.’

As the fight between Chen Wenfu and Li Zongtang erupted, the sounds of battle began to erge from other locations as well. Fortunately, the ten mbers of the Mu Family had all chosen different directions to enter, so even if they started fighting, it wouldn’t be against their own people. Mu Chen considered ambushing Chen Wenfu or Li Zongtang, but that would just drag him into the fight. In that case, it was better to let them tear each other apart.

Flashes of Thunder Light sparked beneath his feet as Mu Chen’s body shot toward the pale gold sphere like a white bolt of lightning. Aided by his speed, he arrived beneath the pale gold sphere in just ten minutes.

Looking up, he saw the book was glowing with a faint golden light. He couldn’t tell if it was a reflection from the pale gold sphere or the book’s own color. He bent his knees and, with a sudden burst of power, leaped into the air. He was still halfway from the book when, with a thought, a patch of pure blue light flashed in the space beneath his feet. Tapping it with his toes, Mu Chen leaped upward again.

SCHHH!

His arm, wreathed in a blue halo, pierced the pale gold sphere with a sharp hiss. He grabbed the thick book, and only then did he get a clear look at it. He was surprised to find that the book was not only thick but also massive. By his estimation, it was at least an arm’s length long and half an arm’s width wide. Two large, shimring golden words floated in the center of the cover.
