Chapter 101: Chapter 98: An All-Out Battle

Elder Tie Mu looked surprised. He glanced at Tielin beside him and chuckled, "This year’s freshman trial is truly extraordinary. The power of that last strike was probably no less than that of a Martial King, wouldn’t you say?"

Tielin was just as astonished, murmuring, "If I’m not mistaken, a Primordial Power explosion like that would also require the coordination of an extrely powerful Ice Attribute. Could it be that kid, Mu Chen, who did it?"

Tielin turned to Tie Mu, who looked back at him aningfully. A sliver of hope sparked in both their hearts, the hope that the one who had created such an attack was indeed Mu Chen...

"Whoa! Brother Mu Chen, Sister Shuangshuang, that move was terrifying! My heart almost jumped out of my chest!" Little Tiger exclaid, his eyes sparkling with excitent.

But Mu Chen seed to have thought of sothing and shook his head. "That was just a coincidence. The collision of my fire and Shuangshuang’s ice could never have produced such a massive Primordial Power explosion on its own. I observed our surroundings just now, and the Primordial Qi on these mountains seems particularly dense. Thinking back, it was probably this dense Primordial Qi that amplified the power of the explosion several tis over. Otherwise, at its absolute peak, the blast would only have been at the Martial Spirit Level."

Qing Lei nodded. "That’s right, I felt sothing was off too. I think the Moon-Loving Greedy Wolf King chose this place to advance precisely because the Primordial Qi is so dense here."

"Advance!"

The four of them cried out in unison. Mu Chen’s brow furrowed. "Damn it, I forgot about that."

The words had barely left his lips when a howl, like a demonic wolf’s cry from the netherworld, erupted from the basin below, accompanied by a terrifying shockwave of air. The entire valley began to tremble.

Mu Chen froze. "It’s over... this advancing Wolf King is... King Level!"

As Mu Chen’s voice faded, a giant, silver figure shot up from the center of the valley with a WHOOSH. The Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi in the sky rapidly converged on it. In the blink of an eye, a third of all the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi in the valley was gone. For a third of such highly concentrated Primordial Qi to be absorbed so quickly, one could only imagine how powerful this advancing Wolf King’s Primordial Power Cultivation truly was.

"A King-level Magical Beast..." Mo Qing murmured, looking up at the powerful body bathed in sunlight.

In the air, a pure silver figure hung suspended. Its long, silver fur drifted gently with the swirling currents of Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi. An aura of a King descended, locking directly onto Mu Chen and the others.

"AWOOOO!"

Its mournful, furious roar seed to be a requiem for its fallen clansn. Icy silver pupils, filled with hatred, stared down at the five people below.

"AWOO!"

With another long howl, the giant silver figure plumted down with a BOOM, landing heavily in front of Mu Chen and kicking up a shower of debris. Only then did Mu Chen get a clear look at the Greedy Wolf King’s face.

Weathered, silver fur flowed down from its neck, giving it the appearance of a Lion King at first glance. A Silver Moon insignia on its forehead shone with a brilliant light. The Wolf King’s body was imnse—seven ters long and about two and a half ters tall. It was a Giant Beast in the truest sense of the word.

"Damn it, a King Beast has erged over there, so close to the outer ring! Who on earth triggered its rage? Xiaolin, we have to get over there now, or we could be looking at massive student casualties," Elder Tie Mu said anxiously, his eyes fixed on the silver figure that had shot into the sky.

Tielin was equally horrified. A King-level Magical Beast might be an insignificant creature in their eyes, but to these new students, it was an insurmountable mountain. If the King Beast wished it, a single swipe of its claws could snuff out a life. They were definitely going to be disciplined for this. Deaths were now unavoidable; all they could do was try to minimize the number.

"Kids, you’d better pray. Pray we can reach you before the King Beast begins its slaughter. Hold on!" Tielin’s voice trembled slightly as he fired a green Signal Flare from his hand. In an instant, the entire sky above the Demon Beast Prison was stained green.

When the Elders in the other regions saw the green light, their expressions turned grim. They imdiately flew toward the source of the Signal Flare. Since the academy’s founding, this type of green Signal Flare had only been used once before. On that occasion, eighteen exceptionally talented students had died during the Demon Beast Prison’s freshman trial. From then on, any standby Elder who saw a green Signal Flare knew that a major disaster was unfolding. In an instant, countless black figures began streaking across the sky from every corner of the Demon Beast Prison. However, the closest were Elder Tie Mu and Elder Tielin, and it would take them at least ten minutes to get from the outer ring to the valley.

Feeling the violent fluctuations of Primordial Power, even Mu Chen grew tense. Even with its power halved by the daylight, this Greedy Wolf King was not sothing he could fight.

’Run.’ That was the only thought in Mu Chen’s mind. He was absolutely capable of escaping from the Greedy Wolf King’s grasp. But he couldn’t. Because behind him were four teammates who trusted him! Teammates who had entrusted their backs to him!

"Everyone, I’m truly sorry. It seems my judgnt as a leader was flawed, and I’ve led you all into danger," Mu Chen sighed, deeply ashad.

The four, who had been panicked just a mont ago, all grew strangely calm upon hearing Mu Chen’s words. Qing Lei gave Mu Chen a resolute look. "You may be the leader, but we have the right to choose. Since we chose to follow you, we won’t bla you."

"That’s right. You’re our leader. You need to stay calm in a situation like this. Even though it’s a King-level Magical Beast, it has only just advanced, so its realm isn’t stable yet. And because of the sunlight, its current strength is only at the level of a Five-Ring Martial Spirit. We still have a chance," Mo Qing said, her gaze just as firm.

Little Tiger looked from side to side, then suddenly grinned. "I don’t really get what you guys are talking about, but I don’t think Brother Mu Chen did anything wrong. Brother Mu Chen is super strong, right? I believe in Brother Mu Chen!"

"Exactly! And besides, you have us, don’t you? We’re pretty strong too!" Ye Shuangshuang said with a serious expression, making a fist.

Looking at their determined faces, a sudden warmth spread through Mu Chen’s heart. ’Mu Chen, oh, Mu Chen,’ he thought to himself, ’you were never this timid before. Back when you were just a Martial Artist, you dared to fight a Seven-Ring Martial Spirit. What’s wrong with you now? Why are you so hesitant and cautious? Even won like Mo Qing and Ye Shuangshuang aren’t afraid, so what are you so worried about? Where has your old pride gone?’

He continued to reflect, taking a deep breath. The look of worry on Mu Chen’s face vanished completely, replaced by a faint smile. ’That’s right. I had no power before, but I had backbone. Now that I have power, why am I acting so indecisive?’

SHING! Like a sharp sword being unsheathed, Mu Chen’s tightly closed eyes snapped open. Two beams of purple light shot out from them as black markings instantly spread around his eyes. A demonic, violent, barbaric aura erupted from his body, and ice-blue Primordial Power swirled around him. In the eyes of Mo Qing, Little Tiger, Ye Shuangshuang, and Qing Lei, Mu Chen’s entire deanor had undergone an earth-shattering change.

Mu Chen suddenly turned, smiled at the four of them, and said lightly, "Thank you. Otherwise, I might have lost myself."

This was the first ti the four of them had seen Mu Chen with his eyes open. Demonic purple, vertical pupils; a strange, white snowflake insignia; sinister black markings around his eyes; and pure, ice-blue long hair. Waves of a barbaric aura pulsed from him, making them feel as if the person before them was not their leader, but a massive, ferocious Wilderness Divine Beast with the power to devour heavens and earth.

Qing Lei’s face was pale. He pointed at Mu Chen’s back and stamred, "This... This is the real him!"

Those words left everyone aghast. Judging by the aura radiating from Mu Chen alone, his presence was no less imposing than that of a Royal Beast. So what about his power? It was only then that they realized with a sense of helplessness that the more Mu Chen revealed, the more mysterious he beca. It was like a labyrinth with one layer after another, impossible to escape once you stepped inside.

The Greedy Wolf King before them also sensed that sothing was wrong. ’This kid was just a tiny ant a mont ago,’ it thought. ’How did he suddenly erupt with such a potent barbaric aura? An aura so powerful it’s making it hard for

to breathe... Who on earth is this kid?’

The Moon-Loving Greedy Wolf King’s eyes flashed with suspicion as it stared coldly at Mu Chen. A silver light shot out from Mu Chen’s wrist like a bolt of lightning and began to circle rapidly around him. A sharp Spiral Blade locked onto the Greedy Wolf King’s head, looking as if it would shoot out and obliterate its skull at the first opportunity.

With a single thought, the long black case standing on the ground flew open. The black Profound Jade Fan unfolded on its own with a SWISH. Mu Chen made a grasping motion with his hand, and the Profound Jade Fan flew into his palm as if it had a mind of its own.

SNAP!

Gripping the Profound Jade Fan tightly, Mu Chen stomped his foot, and a silver Thunder Light erupted with a BOOM. His body shot toward the Greedy Wolf King like a white bolt of lightning. This ti, he chose to attack first. When facing a much stronger opponent, the best defense is a good offense! He slashed viciously with the Profound Jade Fan, aiming straight for the Greedy Wolf King’s head.

"ROAR?"

The Greedy Wolf King let out a surprised growl. Seeing Mu Chen’s attack bearing down on it, it simply swiped out with its sharp claws.

CLANG!

The sound of tal striking tal rang out. The instant the Profound Jade Fan t the claws, countless sparks flew. Mu Chen’s eyes remained cold and emotionless, and the Greedy Wolf King’s expression was equally devoid of feeling.

BOOM!

A massive shockwave spread out from the point of impact, making space itself tremble. Mu Chen and the Wolf King were both thrown back a dozen ters, each occupying one side. Under the watchful eyes of Qing Lei, Mo Qing, Little Tiger, and Ye Shuangshuang, the two opponents locked gazes for a mont before charging at each other once more.

This ti, Mu Chen didn’t opt for a direct clash of power. Instead, just as he was about to get close, a Flash of Thunder flared at his feet and his body twisted away unnaturally. The Greedy Wolf King’s claw swiped through empty air, its montum carrying it forward. In front of it was a steep rock face. If nothing unexpected happened, the Greedy Wolf King would surely use it to push off and dodge, but Mu Chen didn’t know which direction it would go.

The six-petaled snowflake insignia in Mu Chen’s eyes began to spin rapidly. Before the Greedy Wolf King could even make a move, Mu Chen sent the Shattered Star Lock Chain shooting out with a WHIZ. The point it was aid at was several ters away from the Greedy Wolf King’s predicted landing spot. This made the four nervously watching from a distance sigh in disappointnt, thinking Mu Chen had missed a perfect opportunity to attack.

But just as they felt a pang of disappointnt, the Greedy Wolf King’s figure suddenly pushed off the cliff face and leaped directly into the path of the Shattered Star Lock Chain. It looked exactly as if it were throwing itself onto the chain’s sharp blade.
