Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Did He Kiss You?
A mont later, the two sat in a highly private café, Huo Heng wearing a hat and mask which he removed one by one, revealing his handso face, “Zhiyi, since you refuse to see , I had no choice but to co to your house. I don’t an anything else, I just want to talk.”
He was truly planning to get back together with Shen Zhiyi or, rather, to have a real relationship for the first ti. For this, he had clearly broken up with Xu Xia and even announced it to his fans, thinking he had done plenty. But Shen Zhiyi wouldn’t see him—he had no chance to use any of his usual thods of pursuit and was forced to show up at her door.
Shen Zhiyi looked at him coldly, “How did you get the address?”
Huo Heng fell silent for a mont, evading the question, “I just really wanted to see you—”
Shen Zhiyi pierced through his disguise without rcy, barely containing her anger, “You had soone investigate , didn’t you?”
“I just wanted to see you,” Huo Heng started to lose patience too, “You’ve been avoiding , not replying to ssages, not answering calls. How else am I supposed to find you?”
“What gives you the right?”
Shen Zhiyi felt it ridiculous, “Why do I have to respond to you just because you want to find ? Why can you have soone investigate and then show up uninvited? Huo Heng, by what right do you do this?”
Out of respect for a friendship of over a decade, Shen Zhiyi had initially wanted to part on good terms. But all she got from him was his persistent entanglent. Faced with Huo Heng, she didn’t want to give him even the last bit of her feelings.
She rarely got angry, but it was exactly such a person’s anger that signified the gravity of the situation. Huo Heng’s irritation was extinguished, and he apologized sincerely, not resisting adding his defense, “I truly want to start over with you. I’ve already broken up with Xu Xia, and you’ve left Pei Yu. Can’t you give another chance?”
His eyes earnest, “I’m not like Pei Yu, I’m serious about you. I want to spend my life with you.”
Emphasizing it to this man ti and again seed futile, as if he was incapable of understanding. Shen Zhiyi was not rejecting him for the first ti, yet he treated his persistence as devotion, undeterred.
She spoke indifferently, “Pei Yu never makes angry.”
That was the person who wanted to bring back “Nightingale”, only wishing to see her smile.
Huo Heng was stunned, standing still for a long ti. He collected himself, “Regardless, you and he are over. I will prove to you through my actions that I am the best choice for you.”
Truly laughable.
Shen Zhiyi stood up, “Don’t co to my house again.”
As she started to leave, Huo Heng followed quickly, catching her wrist and pulling her back, “Zhiyi, I’m not finished yet.”
“Let go.”
Shen Zhiyi shook off his hand and stepped back, but as Huo Heng moved closer, without a second thought, she picked up the untouched coffee on the table and threw it in his face.
“Huo Heng, I’m warning you.”
The warm coffee dripped slowly down his shirt. Huo Heng was completely stunned. Having been idolized for years, he had never been treated like this, especially by Shen Zhiyi, the Shen Zhiyi who used to be so compliant towards him.
When Shen Zhiyi got ho, she contacted the security room first and found out the reason Huo Heng was let into the complex was that he claid to be her boyfriend, and since he was a celebrity, they didn’t even consider stopping him.
Her head ached with anger. She relayed what had happened to Wang Feifei while telling Xiaodong to find her a new house. Before she could finish the ssage, Wang Feifei’s call ca through.
“You were just photographed with Huo Heng by the paparazzi.”
It was too fast, undoubtedly arranged by Huo Heng in advance.
“The photos?”
The trending search list updated, the top search becoming “Shen Zhiyi and Huo Heng Kissing”. Clicking on it revealed a blurred paparazzi shot from inside the café, a stunning man and woman close together, one with head bowed and the other with face upturned, looking very much like they were kissing.
Wang Feifei was cautious, “Were you forcefully kissed?”
“…”
Shen Zhiyi closed her eyes, “Sis, contact the PR departnt.”
Wang Feifei promised, “Okay, I’ll have soone post a clarification right away—”
“Hold on,” Shen Zhiyi said, “wait until I report this to the police.”
——
By the ti she left the police station, it was already dark. Xiaodong had packed so food for Shen Zhiyi, who hadn’t even had a chance to eat amidst the turmoil.
“Huo Heng should receive the summons by later tonight. Although it may not be enough to convict him, it will certainly teach him a lesson.”
It was a matter of invasion of privacy and persistent harassnt, enough to admonish him given his status as a public figure.
Shen Zhiyi humd in acknowledgent, “Thanks for your hard work, you should go back and rest.”
“Do you need to take you ho?”
“No need.”
After bidding her goodbye, Shen Zhiyi got out of the car with her packed als. She didn’t head ho, as that place was probably already known to the paparazzi and was not very safe. Instead, she returned to the house she had moved out of previously due to being injured by Huo Heng’s sasaeng fans. The lease was still valid, so she was able to stay there.
The street light at the entrance of the apartnt complex was broken, casting a dim glow. When Shen Zhiyi was caught by the shadowy figure in the night, her wrist seized, the initial panic was overridden by the faint scent of agarwood before it could surge.
She was so familiar with his scent that it even overpowered her instincts.
“Pei Yu?”
He must have been waiting here for a long ti, his palms cold. On this chilly autumn night, he wore only a knee-length wool coat. Because of their proximity, Shen Zhiyi could even feel the coldness emanating from his outerwear.
Her wrist was tightly gripped. In the sudden tussle, the items in her hand had fallen to the ground, yet Pei Yu remained silent, not uttering a word nor releasing her grasp.
The night was too thick for Shen Zhiyi to see his expression. She tried to break free, “Let go of first.”
Pei Yu remained still for a long ti before finally uttering a question, his voice hoarse, as though it had been abraded with sandpaper, or as if he hadn’t spoken in a very long ti.
“Did he kiss you?”
Her struggling ceased. The day’s distressing events had left Shen Zhiyi exhausted, and only now did she feel truly tired. She looked up at the pitch-black sky and slowly blinked.
“You ca just to ask this?”
Even though they were apart, did he still mind her being touched by soone else?
Pei Yu was silent, only tightening his grip on her hand.
Shen Zhiyi did not look at him and let out a silent sigh, “It has nothing to do with you.”
Yes, it had nothing to do with him.
He had no right to ask such a question.
Breaking free from his grasp, Shen Zhiyi threw the scattered food containers into the trash and went upstairs.
Looking down from above, it was impossible to see if anyone was still lingering below. Shen Zhiyi sat by the window for a while, her mind in turmoil and headache from too much thinking. Due to exhaustion, she eventually fell asleep unknowingly.
She was awakened by the sound of the doorbell.
No one was outside the door. Shen Zhiyi waited cautiously for a while longer before opening her door. There was a thermal lunch box at the doorstep, containing three dishes and a soup, made in a style she was familiar with.
It was the cooking of the auntie from Huating.
