Only Shen Zhiyi and Pei Yu were left in the corridor, and the actress who just wanted to watch the drama also smartly slipped away, leaving this quiet corner undisturbed for the mont.
Shen Zhiyi released her hand, the silk texture of the tie smooth to the touch. After letting go, it didn’t even keep a crease, as if she hadn’t done anything at all. Her eyes cast downward, it was unclear what her expression was, "I’m going back now."
After speaking, she still stood motionless.
"No rush," Pei Yu wasn’t about to let her leave at a ti like this. He took a few steps closer, and Shen Zhiyi moved back until her back hit the wall. Hearing his voice with a hint of a smile, he asked, "Are you jealous?"
She had never seed so proactive and dominant before; it felt not bad.
Her eyelashes trembling lightly, Shen Zhiyi placed her hand against his chest, too embarrassed to admit, "No."
Her eyes not eting Pei Yu’s, she looked at the wool carpet lining the corridor, "What do I have to be jealous about?"
The patterns on the wool carpet were intricate and elaborate, making one’s eyes dizzy if stared at too long. Shen Zhiyi blinked and her tone dropped, "Have you done sothing to make jealous?"
She had been standing here from the start, witnessing everything that happened over there. She knew nothing had happened between Pei Yu and that woman, and nothing could have happened. She had reasons to be jealous.
"Zhizhi," instead of answering her question, Pei Yu lifted her chin gently, making her face tilt up a bit, and asked slowly, "Why don’t you look at while speaking?"
The corridor lights were motion-controlled, dim elsewhere as long standstill had left only the area where they stood illuminated. The light above cast down, making both of their faces distinctly visible, with every expression unable to hide from each other’s sight.
His eyes held a faint smile as he asked that, as if he understood why Shen Zhiyi averted his gaze, but he knew it yet still unnecessarily asked her.
Shen Zhiyi turned her head away, annoyed because he saw right through her. She could lie to herself, but she couldn’t hide from his eyes, "I am leaving now."
This ti she truly wanted to leave; she pushed hard against his chest, unable to maintain a calm expression any longer, her tone slightly agitated, "Let go."
Knowing she was truly annoyed, Pei Yu restrained himself a bit, but instead of letting her go, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his embrace, his tone soothing as he called her na, "Zhizhi—"
Lifted off her feet, she was held face-to-face by him, Shen Zhiyi instinctively wrapped her arms around his shoulders. His soft call subdued the sour emotions flooding her heart.
She closed her eyes, stopped struggling, and murmured sullenly, "Pei Yu, you’re so annoying."
"Yes, I’m annoying," Pei Yu readily accepted her complaint, seeing her sowhat disheartened look and could not help but laugh, "When you kissed in front of everyone earlier, you had quite the presence. Why like this now?"
Shen Zhiyi didn’t answer; he switched their positions with his back against the wall, he looked down at her face, urging her to respond with a soft "Hmm?"
She didn’t want to speak, but he insisted on listening.
Shen Zhiyi was annoyed by his persistence, her tone emotional, "Can I just regret it—"
Before she could finish, her lips were sealed.
She gazed dazedly at Pei Yu’s brows and eyes so close to hers, slightly lost.
Pei Yu pulled back a little, his dark eyes gazing at her, a faint smile on his face, very patient, "Don’t say things against your heart, I know that’s not what you think."
He leaned in again, kissing her half-closed eyes, "Is admitting you’re jealous of embarrassing? Zhizhi, I often get jealous over you, Huo Heng, ng Qiming..."
"Why ntion them," Shen Zhiyi pushed at his shoulders lightly, "you bring them up for what?"
Really, he never seed to mind this much before, but now he was not pretending anymore, taking any chance to bring up old jealousies, pettily so.
Pei Yu chuckled lightly, "Alright, no more about that. Isn’t it ti you answered my question?"
She looked up at him for a while, his eyebrows and eyes maintaining a calm, patient deanor, waiting for her to speak.
Shen Zhiyi lowered her head to fiddle with his tie, loosening it significantly, "So what if I was jealous."
Though coaxed into telling the truth, she still felt uneasy inside, as if laying her true self bare before him, and she really wanted to end the conversation, "Let down, I want to go back."
"We’re not done yet", Pei Yu pecked her lips sporadically, "Why were you jealous?"
She had said it herself, knowing that he and that woman had done nothing, so why be jealous?
Shen Zhiyi didn’t want to say, feeling increasingly flustered. As he leaned in to kiss her, she tilted her head back to et him, loosening her jaw, and Pei Yu certainly wouldn’t miss any chance to be intimate with her, especially when she initiated it, lowering his head to deepen the kiss.
For a ti, no one spoke. The voice-controlled light overhead quickly went out, and in the silence and darkness, Shen Zhiyi’s breathing beca hurried. It was a long while before she finally got a chance to catch her breath, resting on Pei Yu’s shoulder as he gently stroked her back to calm her.
She thought she had successfully diverted the topic, but then Pei Yu suddenly spoke again, "Thought of an answer yet?"
The topic still wasn’t over?
Shen Zhiyi paused, then looked up again to kiss his lips, hoping to divert his attention with the gesture. Their lips t, but this ti Pei Yu did not respond.
He turned his head slightly, increasing the distance between them and chuckled softly, "You really don’t want to answer that much?"
All these tactics had been used.
Shen Zhiyi’s face grew hot, and she decided to be frank, "Mm, I don’t want to say."
Her voice was soft, "Can you stop asking, please?"
His fingertips rubbed her lips, wiping away the sheen, and Pei Yu spoke calmly, "Acting spoiled won’t work."
He lifted Shen Zhiyi slightly, "Zhizhi, answer ."
His voice was low and brooked no argunt. Shen Zhiyi knew he insisted on getting an answer.
"I—," she started with difficulty, pausing for a mont. Pei Yu did not urge her, simply waiting quietly.
She buried her face in his neck, her tone embarrassed and soft, "I don’t want to see others coveting you."
Even though she knew Pei Yu would never do anything to make her sad, she just couldn’t bear it, uncomfortable whenever there were other won near him.
Before, she never knew her jealousy was so strong, so petty. She had recently told Duan Jiaze that if soone tried to take Pei Yu from her, she would let him go, but now just the thought of soone wanting to compete with her was unbearable.
Shen Zhiyi felt lost and at a loss, wanting to defend herself, "I wasn’t like this before."
She clearly hadn’t been so jealous or petty-minded before.
With her single sentence, Pei Yu understood what she was thinking and chuckled lightly, openly stating, "It’s my doing."
He was more than willing to nurture her possessiveness with his indulgence, enjoying her care.
Or perhaps, her craving.
