Chapter 82: Chapter 082: Sister Leng, Are You Alright?
"Teacher Lin, who is she?" Ye Xiaoyu suddenly saw Lin Feng greeting a beautiful woman and imdiately beca alert. What was most important was that she noticed this beauty seed no less attractive than herself or Mao Rongrong, and she had an indescribable quality about her. Moreover, she seed very familiar with Teacher Lin. Could it be the legendary girlfriend of Teacher Lin that had never appeared before?
Mao Rongrong had also wanted to ask, and seeing such a beauty so familiar with Teacher Lin, she began to feel uneasy, even though she was well aware that she had no relationship with Lin Feng; still, she couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable. Fortunately, Ye Xiaoyu asked for her, so she just waited on the side, biting her lip, eager for the answer.
"She’s my sister, Lin Jie," Lin Feng replied briefly to Ye Xiaoyu’s question before heading towards Lin Jie.
Teacher Lin’s sister, Lin Jie? Ye Xiaoyu suddenly realized that she might have been worried for nothing. She shared the sa surna as Teacher Lin and was his sister; what was there to worry about? Clearly, they were relatives, and direct ones at that. Otherwise, how could such a coincidence happen?
Upon hearing Lin Feng’s words, Mao Rongrong also let go of the worry she had been holding onto. So that was his sister. No wonder she was called Lin Jie. Turning around, she grabbed Ye Xiaoyu’s hand and walked toward the dormitory. After all, what was so strange about a sister coming to see her brother? Mulling over this, Mao Rongrong suddenly realized her mood had improved.
"You, always sticking your nose into everything."
"Psh, don’t tell
you weren’t curious just now. You seed even more anxious than ."
"Don’t make things up, I wasn’t!"
"Haha, deny it all you want, but your face is red."
......
As they walked back, the two of them continued to tease each other,
anwhile, the students who had initially gathered to ask questions dispersed upon seeing this scenario, thinking it rude to stay around while his sister was visiting.
"Haven’t had lunch yet, right?" Lin Feng looked at his watch and asked Lin Jie.
"Nope, just ca over from a classmate’s place, didn’t expect you to be so popular now," Lin Jie said, smiling at Brother Lin Feng, feeling sweet inside as she rembered how handso he looked while lecturing. She wasn’t sure why she felt so sweet.
"Alright then, let’s not go far for lunch; the cafeteria will do," Lin Feng decided simply, looking at Lin Jie.
"Sure, I’d like to see how this cafeteria compares to the one at our school," Lin Jie was not fussy about the location as she cared more about who she was dining with.
Seeing Lin Jie’s smiling face without any objections, Lin Feng naturally started feeling a bit of affection for her. Girls who didn’t fuss about anything seed to be rare these days. The key point was, with parents like hers, for her to be this way was truly not easy.
In no ti, Lin Feng brought Lin Jie to the language institute’s cafeteria, one he frequented.
After asking Lin Jie about her dietary restrictions and preferences, Lin Feng soon had their als ready. While looking for seats, he was surprised to see Leng i was also there; she happened to look their way, so he led Lin Jie directly to Leng i’s table.
Leng i was surprised to see Lin Feng leading the beautiful woman to her table, as if intending to sit there.
When Lin Feng indeed sat down, Leng i instantly felt extrely uncomfortable and unnatural. The anticipation she had felt was now replaced by unease.
As Lin Jie followed Lin Feng to Leng i’s table, she naturally noticed the large empty space beside Leng i and was quite surprised and puzzled. The cafeteria was crowded, and everywhere else people were waiting for seats, so why were there empty tables here, and more than one, at that? What was going on?
Arriving at Leng i’s side, Lin Jie began to sense the unnerving atmosphere – it was chilling, giving off a ’keep out’ vibe, which made Lin Jie’s skin crawl. Glancing at Lin Feng, she was baffled to see he had calmly taken a seat as if it were normal. Lin Jie’s mind clouded with confusion: who was this woman? She knew Brother Lin Feng, but why so cold? As frosty as an iceberg...
"Lin Feng, aren’t you going to introduce us?" Leng i spoke first, looking at the youthful and vibrant beauty across from her. She wasn’t sure what she was feeling, but it certainly made her uncomfortable to see her sitting there. If it were just Lin Feng, without her, how nice would that be...
What? What does "if it were just Lin Feng" an? Why was that better? Leng i wondered, finding her own thoughts odd. What kind of relationship did she have with Lin Feng to be thinking like this?
It seems that all Lin Feng and I have is a simple colleague and friend relationship, right...?
"This is my sister, Lin Jie. This is the Dean of the language institute, Leng i." Hearing Leng i’s words, Lin Feng promptly and casually made the introductions.
"Hello, I’m Lin Jie, to be precise, not Brother Lin Feng’s sister. We just grew up in the sa village," Lin Jie added instinctively during her introduction, confusing even herself by ntioning this. Was she trying to clarify her relationship with Lin Feng, or to tell the other person that they weren’t blood-related? Her thoughts were a ss...
In that mont, both Leng i and Lin Jie realized sothing: their hearts were disturbed.
Lin Jie wasn’t even aware that the mont she saw Leng i, she had already subconsciously felt hostile towards her.
Hmm? What does she an by ’to be precise, not Lin Feng’s sister, but a girl from the sa village’? Leng i, being intelligent, imdiately realized what was being implied; that beautiful girl made a roundabout way of telling her that there was no blood relation between her and Lin Feng. Or perhaps she has a crush on Lin Feng and now, wants to take it further?
Or maybe, she and Lin Feng already had so kind of relationship...
"Hello, Leng i, the Dean here, and also Lin Feng’s superior." Leng i replied politely with simplicity, then lowered her head to eat, feeling the food was hard to swallow. But she couldn’t just sit there and watch the two people opposite her, could she?
But why did she say that to ? Lin Feng and I don’t have that kind of relationship; we are rely friends and colleagues. Does she really need to show hostility towards ?
But... is it really just a colleague relationship? Even Leng i herself was beginning to doubt that.
Forget it, I should finish eating quickly and leave this place.
"Sister Leng, are you alright?" Lin Jie noticed that Leng i across from her was spacing out and found it strange. Soone of Leng i’s stature shouldn’t be prone to losing focus.
"Oh, it’s nothing. I was just thinking about work and got distracted without realizing it." Leng i, a bit embarrassed to find herself zoning out, quickly steered the conversation back to work, which her position could justifiably explain.
Upon hearing Leng i’s response, a woman’s intuition told Lin Jie that it wasn’t that simple.
Although Leng i was a few years older, it didn’t seem that way, and her radiant beauty made anyone who saw her unable to help but gasp in admiration. This was also a reason Lin Jie, upon seeing her, involuntarily harbored so other thoughts...
"Lin Jie, you’re still studying, aren’t you?" Feeling the atmosphere turn a bit awkward, Leng i casually sought a topic to break the ice; after all, it would be truly uncomfortable if three people sitting together remained silent.
"I’m currently at Tianhai Postal University. Sister Leng i, to be so young and beco the Dean of the Language Institute is really amazing." Lin Jie quickly caught on to Leng i’s intention and cooperated with her conversation. Otherwise, she too would feel very uncomfortable.
"There’s nothing amazing about it; I just have a bit of a knack for languages. But Lin Jie, you’re really beautiful."
"Where am I beautiful? I’m just young, Sister Leng is the one who’s truly beautiful."
"You really know how to speak. How are your studies going?"
"They’re okay, I can keep up. Not as busy as Sister Leng managing an institute, though."
"If there’s any trouble, you can co to
for help."
...
Lin Jie and Leng i exchanged hollow pleasantries, complenting each other from ti to ti.
Sitting to the side, Lin Feng listened to the conversation between the two won and found it very strange. Were they that familiar with each other? It seed like their first eting, yet they talked so well together. But no matter how he listened, their words seed to be aningless, as if there was a fake veneer overlaying their conversation!!
With that thought in mind, Lin Feng felt that eating in such a tense atmosphere was an exceedingly uncomfortable affair. Glancing at Leng i and Lin Jie still chatting, he thought it was best to leave, as he wasn’t oblivious to the peculiar ambiance between them.
"Lin Jie, you have classes in the afternoon, right? Eat quickly so I can take you back." Lin Feng called out to Lin Jie.
"Yeah, you can take
back later." Lin Jie agreed, actually wanting to escape the tension-filled environnt. No matter what, it felt awkward and truly uncomfortable.
Hearing them speak, Leng i felt a sense of relief. She hadn’t expected a simple al would take such a turn, exhausting her greatly.
After they hastily finished their als, Lin Feng took Lin Jie away, greeting Leng i before leaving the cafeteria.
Watching Lin Feng and Lin Jie leave, Leng i felt an unexpected sense of relief. She couldn’t fathom why she had felt so tired just now, extrely cautious with every word she said. She puzzled over why she felt the need to act this way.
But surely Lin Jie and Lin Feng weren’t in a brother-sister relationship. The way that beauty looked at Lin Feng wasn’t familial at least based on what Lin Jie thought alone; otherwise, there wouldn’t be such a display of emotion. With this realization, Leng i unexpectedly felt a pang of sourness.
Huh? Why do I feel sour? Leng i couldn’t believe she would have such a feeling. She had no relationship with Lin Feng, and besides, what right did she have? As Lin Feng and Lin Jie left, Leng i suddenly felt a sense of loss, sitting alone and dazed, oblivious even as the people in the cafeteria gradually left until she was the only one remaining.
