Chapter 41: Chapter 041 Dodge...Dodge It

Seeing a custor approach, the waiter enthusiastically ca forward, greeting Lin Feng and another person.

With no special requests, they ordered so of the restaurant’s signature dishes, then the two sat down, sipped tea, and chatted.

Leng i’s eyes were fixed on Lin Feng, her mind still not recovered from the afternoon’s events, because this Lin Feng was too mysterious, always seeming to harbor countless secrets, just like from the mont they first t until now, he had brought so many surprises into her life. He really was too mysterious...

"Why are you looking at

so strangely?" Seeing Leng i staring at him, Lin Feng directly asked.

"Sotis, I’m really curious about who you really are?" Leng i voiced the doubt in her heart.

"Who else could I be? I am who I am, nad Lin Feng," Lin Feng responded.

"You know what I’m asking, and I know you won’t tell ." Leng i lowered her proud head.

"So things I’ve ntioned before, but whether you believe them is up to you. Isn’t it nice to have a quiet al like this?" Lin Feng said to Leng i.

"That’s true, it’s better not to trouble myself over it."

At this mont, the dishes arrived, not many, four dishes and a soup, but all were specialties. Perhaps because they were hungry, both of them ate seriously and found the food satisfying.

"This place is not bad, who knows if there will ever be another chance to eat here," Leng i casually remarked. Yes, she was usually too busy with work to dine out, even having als with her close girlfriends happened rarely, let alone visiting such small eateries.

"As long as you want to co, I’ll accompany you," Lin Feng said earnestly. He found that in this mont, Leng i seed to possess a touch of femininity; he didn’t want her to always be so cold.

"Oh, thanks." Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Leng i replied coolly, but inside, she felt a stir of emotion. Not for anything else, but simply because of the sincerity in Lin Feng’s words, "As long as you want to co, I’ll accompany you."

She could hardly rember the last ti a man had said such things to her—for since high school, Leng i had beco akin to her current state, all n who drew close were either frozen out or scared off, it seed Lin Feng was the only exception...

"You should eat more of this, it’s good for your health," Lin Feng offered Leng i so mutton.

"Hmm? What do you an?" Leng i suddenly wondered, how was eating mutton related to her health?

"Your constitution is weak and cold, you should use things like mutton to nourish and warm yourself, to rebalance," Lin Feng provided an answer.

"Hmm? You know traditional Chinese dicine?" Leng i widened her eyes, asking in surprise.

"I know a little, not an expert. But I can spot so simple things," Lin Feng said nonchalantly, ignoring Leng i’s astonished gaze.

"Can you tell if there’s anything wrong with my body?" Leng i challenged, sowhat disbelieving.

"Do you really want to know?"

"Yes, I really want to know what’s wrong with my health." Leng i answered seriously. What she most wanted to determine at this mont was whether Lin Feng was lying. Traditional Chinese dicine is a vast and complex discipline—without decades of clinical experience, a practitioner couldn’t achieve much. And how old was Lin Feng? It just didn’t seem possible.

Moreover, Leng i had evidence of her own—a health check-up report from the hospital just a few days prior, still in her bag. If Lin Feng was lying, she could expose him imdiately. Thus, she felt very confident.

"Your body is very healthy overall, it’s just your innate weak and cool constitution that causes coldness to accumulate in your womb, lingering without dispersing," Lin Feng said blandly.

"Hmm? Explain more plainly, what do you an?" Leng i felt she was onto sothing but still didn’t understand.

"In plain terms, from a traditional Chinese dicine perspective, you have ’cold in the womb’, from a Western dicine perspective, it’s ’dysnorrhea’. And judging by your complexion, this problem seems to have persisted for many years without being addressed," Lin Feng gave a precise answer.

"Ah... how can you talk about such private matters?" Leng i’s face suddenly flushed with a trace of red, slightly reproachful. After all, such private issues were not suitable for discussion with a man, though it might have been okay with girlfriends. However, how did Lin Feng know about this problem? How had he identified it? Could he really be proficient in traditional Chinese dicine?

That’s not right, even a seasoned traditional Chinese dicine practitioner couldn’t be that miraculous.

It was impossible—he hadn’t taken her pulse or asked any questions; how could he possibly know?

"You insisted that I tell you..." Lin Feng was sowhat speechless.

"Forget it, don’t let

hear such talk again. Otherwise, don’t bla

for turning hostile," Leng i said, her expression colder, but she was already considering whether she should go back and see her grandfather or consult with an experienced traditional Chinese dicine doctor to take care of her health.

Lin Feng chose to remain silent, quietly continuing his al, occasionally serving so food to Leng i.

Before long, after finishing their al, Lin Feng went ahead to pay the bill, then he and Leng i walked out, pondering whether to go back to the university to get his car; he had co by a police car in the afternoon, and his new car was still at the school.

"Let’s go back to the police station to get the car; it’s there," Leng i spoke first. She had left the police station without considering the need to drive, and only now realized she wanted the car when it was still at the station.

"Oh, then I’ll accompany you back to get the car. It’s late, and it’s not safe for a girl alone."

Hearing Lin Feng’s words, Leng i didn’t oppose them. She felt a warmth in her heart, thinking he was quite attentive towards girls.

Just as the two of them had stepped out the door, they failed to notice that a van was parked not far from the entrance, where a young man had actually taken out a liquor bottle and started drinking.

...

Qian Dongguang was summoned by his boss during dinner and, taking the call, hurriedly drove his van over.

"Dongguang, do you want to stay by my side in the future?" Brother Bao asked casually while slowly pouring tea, talking gently.

"Boss, of course, I do! Definitely," Qian Dongguang stated his position imdiately, thinking to himself that such an opportunity to stay by the boss’s side was not easy to co by. Not to ntion the envy of others for just the food and drink, but more importantly, the prestige that ca with it. Going out as Brother Bao’s direct underling would be a matter of great face.

"Mhm, good. If you handle this matter well, then you can stay by my side from now on. What do you think?" Brother Bao continued speaking in his unhurried manner.

"Sure, just tell

what it is," Qian Dongguang was so preoccupied with the prospect of staying beside Brother Bao that he agreed without considering what Brother Bao might ask of him.

"A person. I want you to make it look like a car accident. Death or injury is fine, but disability is preferred," Brother Bao laid out his request directly.

"What? Brother Bao, this..." Hearing Brother Bao’s words, Qian Dongguang felt a chill, as the demand was frightening—causing soone to be disabled or even dead, and the consequences he would have to bear.

He had been excited at first, but never expected the task to be of this nature, his heart began to race.

"No worries. If by so chance you get caught, at most you’ll do a few years in prison. And while you’re away, I, your Brother Bao, will take care of your family. There won’t be any trouble. You can rest assured," Brother Bao reassured Qian Dongguang, while his gaze fixed on him, waiting for him to make a decision.

"Alright, I’ll do it," Qian Dongguang thought it over and eventually decided to go through with it. There were a few guys from the gang who had committed murder before and weren’t caught. They’re doing fine now, and he wasn’t that foolish, surely.

What mattered most was that Brother Bao had sought him out, and if he refused now, what would happen to him in the future...

"Here’s a photo and the current address. He’s dining with a woman right now. Rember, the main target is that man, the woman is not the objective," Brother Bao said, as he threw over a slip of paper and a photograph.

"Okay, I’m on it," Qian Dongguang took a serious look at Lin Feng in the photo and then glanced at the address on the slip before heading for the door.

"Take this vehicle; it’s clean," Brother Bao said, tossing him the keys.

Without a word, Qian Dongguang took the keys and, getting into another van parked at the entrance, headed toward the restaurant where Lin Feng was dining to stake out the place.

Passing by a store, he impulsively bought a bottle of white liquor, partly to strengthen his courage and partly to use as an excuse for drunk driving in case he got caught—it wouldn’t result in a severe sentence.

The tense atmosphere in the van softened as he took sporadic sips from the bottle of white liquor, though his eyes never left the restaurant’s entrance.

The mont he saw Lin Feng and Leng i step out, he grew even more nervous, took a large gulp of the white liquor, and then started the van, charging straight at Lin Feng.

Lin Feng and Leng i walked along the roadside, chatting casually, no longer feeling the awkwardness they had on the way there.

Suddenly, sensing imminent danger as the van charged towards them, Lin Feng had no ti for words. He quickly grabbed Leng i, shielding her in his embrace and darting to the corner of a wall.

With a whoosh, the van zipped past the spot where Lin Feng had stood just a mont before.

Leng i, who was about to scold Lin Feng, saw the van flash by and suddenly understood what had just happened. She trembled, hiding in Lin Feng’s arms, realizing that she would have been hit by the van had it not been for Lin Feng...

It was fortunate that she was with Lin Feng that night; otherwise, what would have happened to her.

Lin Feng, after seeing the van speed away and detecting a hint of alcohol, though finding it odd, didn’t dwell on it too much. Seeing no further danger, he gently let go of Leng i and softly asked, "Are you alright?"

"I’m fine, thank you," Leng i expressed her gratitude.

Dammit... he dodged...

How could he not have hit him? There are so many accidents, so many people die, yet he missed when he aid to hit.

The fact that Lin Feng dodged took Qian Dongguang by complete surprise. He had driven straight at their backs, and even if Lin Feng had fast reflexes, they could not have been that quick, especially while holding onto a woman. Was he even human?

Although he had closed his eyes when trying to run them over, his foot was firmly on the gas pedal. How did Lin Feng manage to dodge? Could it really be just coincidence?!

No, he had to try again. Overco with determination, Qian Dongguang made a U-turn at the intersection and sped toward Lin Feng again, accelerating toward them.
