Chapter 111: Chapter 111 Missing You!
As a qualified listener, Lin Feng didn’t say a word, just quietly sat beside and listened to everything Leng i said. When Leng i was emotional, he didn’t forget to offer her a couple of tissues, making her feel very considerate and at ease.
"Now you understand, why I had to thank you for curing Grandpa’s illness," Leng i said, with teary eyes, then looked at Lin Feng, surprised at how she could cry in front of soone else, and in front of Lin Feng no less. Was this really her? She had never allowed anyone to see her tears before—what was different today?
However, after venting, she truly felt much better. If she had kept all that bottled up inside, it would have felt unbearable, almost like she couldn’t breathe.
"Yes, I understand, and I accept your thanks," Lin Feng said, feeling Leng i’s emotions and seriously accepting her gratitude. Looking into her still reddened eyes, he was reminded of when they first t—the Ice Queen persona that Leng i had back then was in stark contrast to now. Leng i was definitely soone who was cold on the outside but warm on the inside, and once they got out of the car, she would revert to the Leng i everyone was familiar with.
"By the way, after taking my dicine, the pain subsided, didn’t it?" Lin Feng changed the subject, feeling the atmosphere getting a bit gloomy. He hadn’t yet found out the result of his treatnt from last ti. Now that it was just the two of them, he casually inquired about it.
"Yes, it’s much better," Leng i responded, surprised by Lin Feng’s sudden change of topic. She was taken aback, recalling the unbearable pain she felt that day, and the warmth of his hands as he massaged her, the warmth upon her skin where no one else had ever touched—it had been so comforting! As she dwelled on it, a fluttering sensation began in her heart, making her feel flustered.
"There’s a peculiar fragrance in your car, it seems similar to the scent in your room," Lin Feng casually remarked. But as soon as he said it, he felt it was an obvious statent; of course, the scent in Leng i’s car would be like that in her bedroom—it was Leng i’s scent after all.
"Actually, it’s a fragrance from a herb I often use. You are the first man to get in my car," Leng i managed to say before realizing sothing seed off. Explaining the scent was one thing, but why did she add that last bit? What was she thinking? Would Lin Feng read too much into it?
"Then I’m truly honored to be the first," Lin Feng thought of Leng i’s usual deanor. It was unlikely for any man to have been in her car before, so he let go of the thought.
"Maybe you’re the only one," Leng i secretly added in her heart. She felt odd today, blurting out ambiguous statents. What did she an by ’maybe the only one’? Did it an that from now on, only Lin Feng could ride in her car and no one else? What about future boyfriends?
Wait, why did the term ’boyfriend’ suddenly pop up again today? Was she supposed to think of Lin Feng as her boyfriend? Internally shocked, Leng i wondered what was going on. Putting the age difference aside, how could she even begin to connect Lin Feng with the idea of a boyfriend?
As Leng i ruminated, she began to panic a little. She had never before engaged in extended conversations with any man, yet with Lin Feng, she couldn’t help herself. Was this really the ’Ice Queen’ that made every man keep his distance? What had caused such a drastic change in her? Could it really be Lin Feng’s arrival that shattered the ice in her heart?
Lin Feng was genuinely outstanding, extraordinary even. He had managed to ta her, known as a language prodigy, without her putting up any resistance. Back at school, he knew all sorts of practical, miscellaneous things, and now he had even demonstrated remarkable dical skills. Lin Feng, how many more surprises are you going to present to ? Was the crack in the ice all because Lin Feng was so impressive?
On the surface, Leng i still sat there, cold as ever, but inside she was a tumult of emotions. Watching Lin Feng focused on driving, she thought back to their first encounter, the cocktail party, the first French class, and many other monts...
"What are you thinking about?" Lin Feng, noticing Leng i’s distraction, was very surprised. It was the first ti he’d seen her so out of it since they’d t and was curious about her thoughts.
"Thinking of you," Leng i blurted out reflexively, but only after the words escaped did she realize she had said that to Lin Feng, while the two of them were alone in the car. The words were as intimate as they were impromptu, but by then it was already too late. What was she to do now?
"Thinking of what about ?" Lin Feng was curious about what Leng i could possibly be pondering over him.
"No, it’s not what you think! I just recalled our first eting, and when you asked, I instinctively answered," Leng i hurriedly explained to avoid any misunderstanding, yet a part of her felt a tinge of disappointnt. Couldn’t she think of him? Did he have to react that strongly?
Lin Feng just smiled faintly at Leng i’s words.
"I was thinking, back then it was only you who had the guts to sit across from . It was also because of this that you later beca my subordinate," Leng i recalled the past, when Lin Feng shattered her pride so completely there was nothing left. It was also then that she convinced Lin Feng to teach at the French Departnt, which is how their paths crossed in the first place.
"You’re right, teaching at the French Departnt really suited . I was very happy being with them," Lin Feng thought of his students and felt proud rembering how he was during class.
"Lin Feng, your linguistic talent is already against the heavens, and now your dical skills are so formidable too. Can you tell
how you learned all this? Everyone knows Chinese dicine is profound and broad, it’s not sothing that can be mastered overnight," Leng i stared at Lin Feng, finally voicing her doubts. How could a normal person achieve such feats, even if they didn’t sleep at all in 24 hours, it would be impossible, yet Lin Feng clearly did it. How could that not be strange?
"I’ve told you before, I learned everything on the island," Lin Feng replied simply, a faint smile in his heart. He had already told her the answer before, it’s just that she didn’t believe it.
"According to what you say, you learned everything on the island. Who would believe that? Staying on an island for a few years and mastering what others can’t finish in a lifeti, your explanation wouldn’t even be believed by ghosts!" Leng i stared at Lin Feng, unable to believe what he was saying.
"There’s nothing I can do if you don’t believe . I told you the truth," Lin Feng was speechless. Why does no one believe the truth? Does he have to lie to be believed?
"Lin Feng, are you going to leave the university? I don’t want to lose such an excellent teacher," Leng i asked another question. She didn’t want Lin Feng to leave the language college one day, partly for the sake of students having a good French teacher, and partly for reasons only she knew.
"Leaving is inevitable, but it won’t be in the near future," Lin Feng paused and answered seriously.
"That’s good, as long as you’re not leaving anyti soon," Leng i breathed a sigh of relief. She had initially thought that Lin Feng was just passing through and wouldn’t stay long, so his answer already exceeded her expectations.
They chatted happily, and before they knew it, the car had entered the gates of Yingbo University and stopped near the language college.
Upon getting out of the car, Lin Feng and Leng i went their separate ways. Lin Feng headed straight for the classroom, while Leng i went to her office to grab so things. However, neither of them noticed a student not far away taking a photo of them getting out of the car together...
No sooner had Leng i reached her office and started looking for her things than there was a knock at the door, which surprised her. She was rely stopping by to pick so things up; who would know exactly when she was coming back?
"Sister Leng, Grandpa Leng is okay, right?" Ding Wan’er asked anxiously as soon as the door opened. She was worried about Grandpa Leng’s illness but couldn’t leave her work behind, so she had to wait for Leng i to return and inform her. Just after calling her grandfather, she learned that Leng i had returned and imdiately rushed over to inquire about the situation, just in ti to see Leng i entering the office.
"It’s all good now, just recuperation left. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have co back to work," Leng i felt warm inside, sensing that Girl Ding was genuinely concerned about her grandfather’s health.
"What? I must have heard wrong. When you called
from the hospital, you said Grandpa was already in critical condition. How did he just get better like that?" Ding Wan’er looked at Leng i, astonished, wondering how soone could recover from critical condition so miraculously.
"At first, there was nothing we could do, but then Grandpa Qian and Grandpa Ding brought Lin Feng to the hospital, and he saved my grandfather’s life," Leng i thought back to the scene. Without Lin Feng, her grandfather really wouldn’t have survived.
"What? You’re saying my grandpa and Grandpa Qian brought Lin Feng to the hospital, and that saved Grandpa Leng’s life?" Ding Wan’er found it hard to believe such a claim. How could that be possible? When did Lin Feng learn dicine? He was just good with languages, and why wouldn’t he let Grandpa Ding and Grandpa Qian carry him to the hospital?
"To be precise, that’s what happened. Lin Feng’s dical skills are truly formidable; even the Leader’s dical Care Group’s head, Grandpa Chen, was out of options. In the end, Lin Feng was the one who cured my grandfather," Leng i recalled the scene, thinking about how Lin Feng had left everyone dumbfounded back then. A young man in his early twenties with such incredible dical skills was a fact nobody could easily accept.
