Chapter 850 – Disappointnt
After the bombing incident, the President of the International Olympic Committee, Mr. Samaranch, went to visit the victims at the hospital. No matter how much he wanted to arrest the bombing suspect, there was nothing he can do. As the President of the International Olympic Committee, he does have so powers, but he does not have investigation powers!
All Mr. Samaranch could do was to visit the victims and nothing else.
At this ti, sothing unexpected happens. Mr. Samaranch’s secretary told him a Chinese businessman wants to donate a sum of money for the victims.
Actually, this was not necessary. Other than the two victims who passed away, the rest of the injured were covered by insurance when they bought the tickets. The insurance payouts were enough to cover their hospital bills.
Even if there is a shortfall, the Atlanta Governnt will make up the difference.
But the Atlanta Governnt and the US governnt did not ntion anything about compensations to the victims as they felt this was an accident.
Now, an outsider, who was not involved, is willing to donate to the victims, and this made Mr. Samaranch very grateful.
No matter how much the donation was, it is goodwill and Mr. Samaranch imdiately make arrangents to et this person to express his thanks.

“Mr. Samaranch, I’m Feng Yu, from China.” Feng Yu smiled and extended his hand.
“Thank you, Mr. Feng, for your generosity.” Samaranch shook Feng Yu’s hand.
Is Feng Yu representing the Chinese Governnt? China was bidding for the 2008 Olympic Gas and had lost in its bid to host the 2000 Olympics Gas by one vote.
Samaranch felt Feng Yu was too young and thought he should be the son of so Chinese governnt officials. In many countries, there are politician’s families, and he had t several young n from those families.
“I am just doing my part. I would like to donate 10 million USD to the victims. I hope they will get well soon.
Samaranch was shocked. 10 million USD?!
800,000 to 1 million USD is considered a significant donation to Samaranch. The victims’ dical expenses were covered by insurance and the US governnt, and he thought this Chinese young man will only make a small donation.
But Samaranch never thought this young man wanted to donate 10 million USD!
“Mr. Feng, I represent the International Olympic Committee to thank you.” Samaranch shook Feng Yu’s hand again. He was at a loss of words.
“Don’t ntion it. But this donation will not be made under my na. It will be under the BML company, and this is the check for 10 million USD. Please give a receipt.”
Donating as an individual is different from giving under a company. Using a company can create publicity and increase brand awareness. Samaranch doesn’t mind and will not reject it.
Samaranch asked his secretary to prepare the receipt and was curious about this BML company. He had never heard of this company before. Is it a Chinese company?
“China must be proud to have a philanthropist like you.” Samaranch thought for a while and said.
He thought since Feng Yu might be the son of a governnt official, he should be happy to hear this complint.
Although Samaranch had misunderstood Feng Yu’s identity, Feng Yu was still happy to hear that. “No… I am proud to be Chinese.”
At this mont, Samaranch could almost confirm Feng Yu is representing the Chinese governnt.
During China’s next bid to host the gas, Samaranch will try to help China get more votes.
Both chatted for a while, and Feng Yu led the conversation to this year’s gas.
“Sigh… I wonder if this incident will affect the athletes’ performances in the upcoming events. Never mind. This is also not sothing I should be worried about.” Feng Yu purposely said.
Samaranch replied with a troubled look. “The athletes will surely be affected. Athletes from so countries had returned without competing. During yesterday’s events, lots of athletes could not concentrate and made mistakes.”
“That’s so unfortunate. I thought this year’s gas will be the most successful in history.”
During the closing ceremony of every Olympic Gas, Samaranch will always say ‘This is the best Olympic Gas in history’ during his closing speech.
But this tragic incident and the ss the US Olympic Gas Committee created, had disappointed Samaranch.
“Most successful? I think this is the worst Olympic Gas in history!” Samaranch replied angrily.
Feng Yu had achieved what he wanted. He had successfully made Samaranch angry. But this was not enough. Feng Yu wants to blow up this matter and sha the Organizing Committee!
“I heard the arrested suspect is innocent. The Aricans are trying to cover up for their failure in protecting the visitors at the park. They lacked sportsmanship and is only using this event to make money. The Olympic Gas had beco a comrcial activity.”
Samaranch was about to say sothing, but his secretary returns with the donation receipt, and Feng Yu left without giving Samaranch a chance to explain.
Not long after Feng Yu left, so reporters ca to interview Samaranch. They want to hear what the International Olympic Committee has to say about the bombing incident and the arrested suspect.
Samaranch’s anger imdiately explodes! He had lots to say earlier, but Feng Yu had left. Now, he could no longer hold back!
“My views? You are talking about that person who is arrested? Everyone can tell that person is not the suspect! How can such a thing happen during the Olympic Gas? I am very disappointed with Atlanta’s security! This is my view!”
Samaranch’s reply was considered mild as he did not bash the US governnt and only ntioned Atlanta.
The reporter was shocked to hear Samaranch’s reply. Samaranch said the arrested person is not the actual bomber?
“This year’s gas had broken many records. Are you satisfied with this year’s Olympic Gas?” The reporter quickly changes the subject.
“Satisfied? After the bombing incident, you want to know if I am satisfied? If you are in my position, are you satisfied? If you really want to answer, then my answer can only be utterly disappointed! I am not in the mood for interviews now. A philanthropist had just donated 10 million USD to the victims of the bombing, and I have lots of work to do.” Samaranch stood up and left. He does not want to speak a single word with this reporter!
The reporter was shocked by Samaranch’s outburst. Utterly disappointnt?!
