"Shen Kai, our enmity will not end until I have ground your face on this soil!"
"Scum, I’ll find you! As soon as I break through to the soul reformation realm, I’ll skin you alive!"
"I’ll make that asshole regret being born!"
Various vehent exclamations were livening up the woods. With the gentle touch of morning’s sunlight flickering through the large trees, it created a morable scene, especially for Han Xuhan, who took great pleasure in basking under the warmth of the sunshine and the caress of sweet, savory vengeance.
"Attendant Xuhan, how about we get out of these ropes first?" Xuanyuan Zhou suggested exasperatedly.
The trio wriggled out of their bindings with the help of so of the fuming cultivators near them. While half of them were considering whether to escape from this area or not, the other half of the crowd was too angry to take the loss and run away like a coward.
For the mont, no one was sure of what to do.
Right at this ti, one of the sharper cultivators finally managed to calm down just enough to analyze Xuanyuan Zhou’s story properly. Her eyes fell on the trio of cultivators in front of her and grew narrow in suspicion. A certain notion began to take root in her mind. So she voiced her suspicion imdiately.
"You three, even though your explanation seems logical, I keep getting a feeling that sothing is off about it. For all we know, one of you could be-"
Mu Ran thumped his chest loudly and cut her off, saying, "I know our words may not appear to be quite credible right now. I can swear heavenly oaths if necessary, and so can my companions."
"Heavenly oaths?" The girl was taken aback by his brave claim.
"Of course! I can swear by the heavens that none among us are in any way cahoots with that bastard Shen Kai. We are victims of his sche instead!"
Mu Ran’s confident pledge dispelled much of the suspicions the cultivator had in her mind. Heavenly oaths were nothing to scoff at, especially for cultivators. Even if the heavens did not imdiately punish one directly for lying over such oaths, the cultivator himself would be plagued by all sorts of ntal demons during their breakthroughs because of their subconscious guilt.
"Ah well, now that we have been kicked out of the world fragnt, we can only leave. Who knows when Shen Kai will burst out of that portal with his undead army? I wouldn’t be able to put up a fight at that ti.
"I have sustained several hidden injuries that normal treatnt cannot cure. We should head back to the sect imdiately. Would any of you like to co with us for a friendly visit, perhaps?"
Xuanyuan Zhou masterfully diffused the aggression within the crowd, reaffirming the existence of the oncoming threat.
The cultivators did not see any point in trying to convince them to stay, and neither were they gullible enough to visit a foreign sect without any prior preparations.
They politely bid them goodbye after a brief discussion regarding what to expect when facing Shen Kai and his army.
"Although you’re claiming that he’s at the Soul Reformation realm now, he still shouldn’t have grasped any techniques of that level so soon. If more than a dozen cultivators at the middle and high layers of the first major realm of cultivation attack him together, there is a good chance that we may be able to beat him. We just need to avoid eting his army head-on."
This was the culmination of their plans. Han Xuhan found the ntal image of the plan hilarious. He had to force himself to not laugh out loud.
With the matter settled, Han Xuhan and his two golden thighs were just about to leave, when another cultivator ca tumbling out of the portal unsteadily.
"Eh? Brother Yu!" The cultivators who were acquainted with him instantly rushed forward to catch him.
The young man cut a sorry figure, with his clothes in tatters and his body sporting several bone-deep wounds. The only reason he hadn’t fainted by now was due to his decent martial cultivation base. Even the incredible healing speed of his body was barely managing to keep his body stable.
Mu Ran, Han Xuhan, and Xuanyuan Zhou exchanged a glance of tacit agreent with each other. All three of them could guess who the culprit behind the young man’s injuries could be.
It seed that Zhao Weiqing and his legion were coming over out of the world fragnt. For them to appear so fast, it seed that Zhao Weiqing had used a law fragnt for a mass teleportation too. They could probably jump out of the portal any mont now.
Even with their collective strength, Han Xuhan was in no way confident of being able to face that guy.
It was more or less ascertained that the crimson-colored orbs had really been suppressing a super-overpowered cultivator inside the Holy Land of Laws. Since so many rookie cultivators had broken through to the second stage after creating law fragnts that basically functioned as passages through the stadium, how long would it take for that powerful cultivator to use those passages to his own advantage?
Moreover, so of the crimson orbs containing the circle of laws might have been hard as well during the activation of passages. Their suppression power against that sealed cultivator may not work anymore.
"Run! The monsters must be coming!"
Not wasting a second more, Han Xuhan used a high-pitched tone to shout at the cultivators crowding around the injured young man, after which he turned around and ran like the wind.
Han Xuhan’s warning wasn’t a selfless act. He just wanted Zhao Weiqing’s forces to beco confused amidst the chaos. If dozens of cultivators were running behind the three of them, even Zhao Weiqing wouldn’t be able to detect their tracks in the woods.
His footsteps were accompanied by Mu Ran’s and Xuanyuan Zhou’s panicked run. Within re seconds, their silhouettes vanished beyond the bushes and trees surrounding the clearing.
