"Minion Zhanxian, I have a job for you."

"As long as it doesn’t require to take any risks, I’m listening."

"Ahahaa, about that... There IS a teensy weensy bit of risk, like, just a pinch of danger, just enough to make it interesting. But if you can follow my instructions, you won’t be affected by it."

"I won’t be affected by anything as long as I stay here. In fact, why am I even here? Just summon back inside your spiritual world, Master. I’m useless in a place like this."

"It is exactly because you’re useless here that I am making you useful through this task. If you can do it, our safety will be ensured regardless of the dangers we face. You’ll even be safer than !"

Seeing that Zhanxian didn’t seem convinced, Han Xuhan started promising him rewards.

"If you do it, I can compromise a bit and let you customize your future neighbors in my spiritual world! Do you want it to be a pretty lass with shiny, healthy bones? I have the perfect bone asurents! Do you want a younger sibling to play with? Daddy will make one for you!"

"....I always had a feeling that you’re batshit insane, Master. Now, I’m questioning how insane I was to doubt the possibility."

"Only a kind master like would allow such questions, Zhanxian! And there is no need to doubt your instincts. I am indeed insane, an insane genius, really."

"...You know what? I give up. I’m not arguing with you anymore, master."

"Who asked you to argue with ? Just go do your job as a minion! Why are so disobedient?"

This was the approximate content of the conversation that took place once Xuanyuan Zhou had disappeared inside the third stage.

It ended with Zhanxian being rendered speechless.

"Little Zhanxian, look at Xuanyuan Zhou’s undeads. See how obedient and likable they are? Can’t you be more like them?"

It was a scene that resembled a worried father scolding his son for not being as good as the neighbor’s kids.

If Zhanxian had eyeballs, they’d be rolling in annoyance right now. But he didn’t have them, so Han Xuhan was spared further ntal conditioning on how to discipline a rebellious son who doesn’t understand what’s good for him.

After another round of coaxing and promises of rewards, Zhanxian reluctantly agreed to the risky job. Han Xuhan handed him a pouch he had been carrying around since the second stage. Then he wrote a long letter.

"What’s written in this letter, Master?" Zhanxian asked curiously.

"A proclamation of my eternal, undying love. Before I die, I want it to reach the hands of the ones destined with ."

"Destined with you? No, wait...the ONES? Multiple?"

"As they say, enemies and lovers are destined to et. I have many of the forr category. Here you go," he muttered after giving Zhanxian the letter and whispered the plan in his ears.

The more Zhanxian listened, the more surprised he beca. But he also felt that only a crazy fellow like his summoner would even think of such plans.

After the explanation was over, Han Xuhan patted him on his bony back and sent him off. Zhanxian didn’t have to worry about being poisoned by the fog. Nor would he need to face aggressive zombies. He was indeed much safer in the world fragnt than Han Xuhan.

Contemplating whether he could change his lifeform and beco an undead like his minion, Han Xuhan walked over to the obsidian platforms, his hands clasped behind his back and his head held high.

Honestly speaking, he really didn’t have to risk his safety and enter the third stage to receive an inheritance. But he was starting to find the language of laws pretty useful...not to ntion, incredibly interesting.

The techniques he had in hand right now were not good enough to guarantee survival in a world so brutal. His character and natural disposition were more compatible with this type of techniques that relied on creativity.

But what he was more concerned about was an issue that had been bugging him for a while now.

Both Mu Ran and Xuanyuan Zhou were oddities, abnormal to the point where Han Xuhan considered them both as protagonist tier characters by now.

And both of them had cautioned him in an uncannily similar way against the Holy Land of Laws. When he coupled this phenonon with the lore of the Holy Land of Laws...

It raised so suspicions in his heart. He understood that the third stage would probably be the place where all hell would break loose once Mu Ran did what protagonists do.

Nevertheless, Han Xuhan still wanted to see if he could actually manage to get sothing useful from this place in the anti. He just had to be more cautious than usual. He had learned a hard lesson back inside the stadium.

There is a fine line between taking risks for benefit and courting death from greed. Han Xuhan felt like he was toeing that line, but his fortune was so miserable that ANY small boon would perhaps be his lifesaver.

Even a small treasure, or a decently potent inheritance would boost his chances of survival in the future. The risk had to be taken for his own good, for his long-term safety.

Standing in front of the platforms, Han Xuhan considered his options.

"Which one should I choose?"

The Elental, the Force, the Cosmic Laws, the Sentient Contracts, the Cause and Effect.... All of them seed to have their own rits.

In the end, Han Xuhan chose the Sentient Contract first, mostly because he had a basic understanding of the technique, and he had extensive experience in dealing with legal matters from his previous life.

He had managed to recover so of his qi while resting. So once he gave the ntal command, a small stream of qi poured out from his ridians and ca into contact with the laws on the platform.

Compared to his predecessors, Han Xuhan’s qi was negligible due to his low cultivation base and poorly structured ridians. His control was shaky as well.

After a few seconds, his reserves dried up, and he felt a warmth in his body. The familiar violet light appeared, wrapping around him like a blanket.

Vaguely, he heard soone sowhere shout.

"Why is it so small?!"
