[One Month Later]
"Haa... huuu...."
Rey’s eyes were closed as he took a ditative pose.
His breathing was calm and his mind felt stable despite the chaotic sensation that coursed through his body.
He was within his room, and he had already inford all his slaves and servants not to disturb him during tis like these. That was simply because of his precarious his current situation was.
Right now he was balancing energies within him while expanding his Ether Core.
It had grown yet again.
’Ever since my revival during the Mod-Year Festival, my growth rate has been steadily increasing. It’s easier to improve my Ether Pool through ditation than before. Since I don’t get the opportunity to battle as much as I used to, this is the most effective thod to grow stronger...’ Rey calmly reasoned.
Since he was now on the Rankings, his prestige and strength ruined a lot of stakes in the Coliseum challenges.
Thus, unless there were special events, he couldn’t attend any longer.
He could participate in Supremacy Challenges, Quarterly Shows, Mid-Year Festivals, Annual Festivals, and so on.
But daily and bi-weekly events had beco off-limits to him.
Rey wasn’t too disappointed by this, though.
’They had all grown too weak for anyway. I need stronger opponents to improve myself and increase my limits...’
It was during monts like these that he grew to appreciate Amara more.
If she were still present, he would have soone to constantly spar with and put him and the edge of his seat.
’Logan and I spar, and I also use my slaves as cannon fodder in order not to draw suspicion to myself on what I am doing... but it is simply not the sa.’
When it ca to Logan, Rey didn’t dare to go all-out. He felt it necessary not to reveal all his cards to the old man, lest he take action against him. Right now, he was working to increase his strength under the surface.
No one knew how strong he truly was.
Not even his slaves.
Speaking of his slaves, Rey had made considerable progress with them.
’Just as planned, I introduced them to the Technique and how to master it. I have been priming them for this mont for a while, and with their foundational knowledge on Ancient MajiK, they’ve made good progress learning it. My freedom might even co earlier than expected...’
Though excited, Rey maintained a stable heart rate and continued to focus on his Ether Core.
The massive cluster of energy finally condensed into a much brighter source, and an additional revolving star was added.
’Two hundred stars now...’
Rey sighed, letting out turbid air as a smile leaked out of his lips.
’I’m now twice as strong as I was after I awakened from death.’ He felt a certain level of fulfillnt thanks to his progress.
But this only made him grow more dissatisfied when it ca to other affairs.
’For example... my plateaud strength.’
Rey had a problem.
Right now, he possessed a lot of Ether, but he was still stuck with Low Sequence Techniques.
His primary Techniques were:
Reversal Technique: 9, 8, and 7
Inverse Technique: 9, 8, 7, and 6
He wanted sothing higher. It was about ti he moved towards mid-sequence in at least one or the two of them.
’I got shut down the last ti I tried to ask, but things should be different now...’
Rey nodded and decided to try again.
There was no harm in it.
His relationship with Augustus was strained, but it wasn’t like the two were enemies. In fact, it was in the latter’s interest to make him as strong as possible.
’I am currently at Rank 8. With the other ranked fighters in the Coliseum coming to play soon, I’ll need to grow stronger. I am sure Augustus is thinking of this as well, but since I don’t know when he’ll act... I have to take initiative.’
Rey never made assumptions.
He also never overestimated himself or thought he was the strongest or smartest. That was why he constantly tried to better himself.
’Thankfully, I’ve also been growing my Trump Card... hehe!’
Other than his Ether Core, double Soul, reduced Curse Imprint, as well as other unnoticeable changes in his body, there was sothing else Rey was hiding from everyone.
A Hidden Technique.
’Hollow Technique... I have completely mastered the first three Sequences, but the last one is a little tricky.’
Sequence 6: Soulless.
This was a particularly interesting Technique for Rey, and it was his insurance in case any of his plans failed.
’That’s why I need to work hard to master it as soon as possible!’
It was simply too difficult to effectively do so in the Desgarron Manor, so Rey had to make many preparations to ensure he wasn’t being observed while practicing.
It was always draining and ti consuming, but without these precautions, he could be exposed at any ti.
There were enemies everywhere.
The Desgarron Noble Family.
Logan, and whatever force was behind him.
These two competing powers were not his allies, which ant he had to be on constant guard against them.
’But... slow and steady.’
Rey smiled and rose to his feet.
He quickly noticed how his entire body was covered in hot, sticky sweat.
’I should take a shower now. I reek.’
He went into his bathroom and did so. By the ti he ca out to his living room, he was t with a few servants who were cleaning so things up for him.
Since Rey was only wearing a towel, his chiseled and perfectly toned body beca bare for them to see.
They awkwardly turned away, but he could clearly see them peeking to catch glimpses.
He wasn’t surprised.
This was all intentional.
’By seducing my servants, I have ensured so degree of loyalty in them. They’re certainly helpful in so matters.’
Servants were very useful since they heard and could spread rumors very quickly.
Rey couldn’t be in many places at once.
Using these servants allowed him to gather information from all over the manor. It also ensured he could protect so of his own secrets or spread false news about himself through them.
These females, controlled by their lust and repressed desires, were in the palm of his hand.
’At this point, they don’t even mind that I am a cursed child. In fact, I think that has even increased their interest. Not surprising. Taboo acts like these are often fetishized.’
After dressing up, Rey left his room and took a small walk.
While doing so, he encountered Logan.
"The Young Master wishes to et with you."
"Oh? Really?"
Rey was genuinely surprised.
He wasn’t pretending this ti, though he still had his guard up with Logan.
"Yes. It’s about the upcoming tournant."
Once Rey heard this, he understood.
’I was going to take initiative and approach him, but it looks like my Master isn’t as senseless as I had feared. That’s good...’
He nodded and followed Logan to Augustus’ room. The mont he entered, he could feel the grandeur once again. The serene ambiance and the imnse wealth that oozed from this place was surreal.
Compared to this, his room might as well be a landfill.
Yet, Rey wasn’t as impressed as he used to be.
Perhaps it was because he knew the absolute waste of space that dwelled within it.
