’Although saying and doing those things she accused of doesn’t directly break the rules of my Slave Contract, and the story she is spinning is believable, I know for a fact that I didn’t do them.’

Rey was innocent.

But he also knew this was a precarious position he was standing in.

He was highly suspicious at the mont.

It was no secret to anyone in the Manor that Amara had grown quite fond of him despite his status.

She often sparred with him and had many conversations with him openly. She even saved him from Alistair Cheshire and risked offending such a great Noble Household for his sake.

Then, she personally ensured he was treated.

He also couldn’t forget that she gave him elixirs, helped him improve in his abilities, and delayed returning tk the Academy for his sake.

She was truly obsessed with having him as hers, and she wasn’t going to stop until Augustus gave up.

All of these things were perks that Rey enjoyed, and at the ti he felt rather fortunate to have received all of this help.

But now?

Now they only deepened the suspicion being cast on him.

However, the situation was not hopeless!

All that was needed at this mont was for the truth to be confird. Everyone would then know that he was innocent of these accusations.

The best part was that they wouldn’t even require any Soul Art to be used on him, since the maid’s lie would be exposed on her end.

And so, Rey waited with wide open eyes.

"Step forward." The Head of Household called the maid out.

Then, he stretched out a hand and whispered.

"Soul Art..." His eyes narrowed, and strings of Ether trickled out of his fingertips.

They were so dense with energy that Rey found the sight unbelievable. The density of the energy released exceeded his entire Ether Core.

The world around them seed to warp in response to this display of power.

He could only gulp as he saw this.

’But this is good! He’s definitely going to use a high Sequence Technique. She won’t be able to resist it, so all of her lies will be exposed.’

"Enslavent Technique #3: Absolute Servitude."

Once the Head of Household uttered those words, the maid’s body was completely paralyzed.

She could no longer access her thoughts, her Ether, even her Soul.

Not without his direct permission.

Her entire life was his own.

There was no room for resistance.

"Tell the truth. Everything you told just now... Is it the truth? Did you really witness it? Tell everything." He asked her.

Rey waited for the lie to be exposed.

He was excited, even.

But—

"Yes, Great Lord..."

—All of his expectations shattered at that mont.

"... I would never lie to you. I witnessed it all with my own two eyes and heard it all with my ears. I am forever loyal to the Desgarron Household." After saying this, the woman repeated everything she told Dreyfus Desgarron earlier.

Rey was appalled.

He was speechless, unable to believe it.

’How did she lie?!’ Puzzled, Rey began to explore other alternatives.

’I can’t assu soone told her or showed her these details, since she admitted to seeing it herself. Maybe she truly believes that was what she saw or heard. That ans she is deluded or was perhaps misled by soone else into seeing sothing she thought she saw. It might be an illusion. A hallucination. Sothing!"

"She is telling the truth." Dreyfus Desgarron spoke up, his gaze now on Rey. "What is your explanation? Now would be your last chance to confess."

Although his ti was calm, Rey did not make the mistake of assuming this man was being cordial with him.

Any mistake would an his death.

He was in deep trouble this ti, and he knew it.

But... What could he do?

All he could do was speak the truth.

"G-Great Lord—!" Rey went ahead to explain his theories on what could have happened to the maid that misled her into believing what she saw.

But the Lord shook his head.

"Absolute Servitude gives full access to the Soul of the target. I can even see her mories. If she was under an illusion or so misconception, I would have detected fluctuations in the Soul. I could also determine if it was an impostor in her mories if I wanted to, but it’s not. The person in her mories is indeed you, and you indeed said and did all those things she accused you of."

"I... I... But I didn’t."

"Still stubbornly denying it, huh?" Dreyfus sighed, flicking his finger while speaking. In an instant, Rey appeared right in front of him, his body floating in the air helplessly.

He couldn’t move a muscle.

’Guh! T-this is...!’

Rey recognized his situation as precarious.

This was the worst case scenario.

’He’s about to use the sa Soul Art on ! He’ll have access to my mories and see exactly what he wishes to see!’

Rey shut his eyes in a panic.

He was truly finished.

"Enslavent Technique #3: Absolute Servitude."

In that instant, Rey lost complete access to his body. He felt cold and numb, completely detached from his physical state.

He did feel a slight tether to the body, but it was too complex and mysterious for him to unravel.

However, he began to notice sothing else.

A stirring.

Sothing lurking underneath the surface.

It was—

’Another Soul?!’

Rey was shocked by what he saw.

Right before his spectral eyes, another Soul was bound and being dragged to the surface. It was covered in what resembled millions of chains, unable to break free no matter what.

’Shouldn’t that be my Soul? But what is happening here? Other than being detached from my body, I feel perfectly fine.’

Rey was relieved for a mont.

Because the Desgarron Household Head had clearly captured the wrong soul.

A different one.

That wasn’t the Soul that made all of Rey’s sches and concocted all the plans that he still kept hidden. Most importantly, that wasn’t the Soul that ca from H’Trae.

Rey’s past life had been preserved because of this unknown occurrence.

Unfortunately for Rey, this relief of his did not last very long. Because just as Lord Dreyfus did with the slave, he began to ask Rey questions.

"Tell the truth. Everything you told just now... Is it the truth? Did you really not say those things about Amara? Did you truly do those things that you were accused of? Tell everything."

The real Rey couldn’t speak.

He couldn’t control his body. But he witnessed everything happening from a spectator’s point of view.

He waited for this false soul to deny it, or at least be unresponsive.

But... What happened next shocked him.

"No. I lied. I said those perverted things about the Young Lady Amara. I also did those things. We kissed, and I groped her a few tis while she was unaware. I did those perverted things countless tis in my imagination but rarely had the opportunity to do so in person. I don’t rember poisoning her, as I have gaps in my mory, but I am guilty of those things I was accused of."

Rey was stunned.

Not just because of the words he was hearing himself say, but also because mories were being played in front of him.

He could see them clearly.

He watched things from his point of view and observed as he uttered those words to himself.

’I-impossible!’

He even saw how he groped Amara during their duels without her being aware of it, and how he kissed her when she seed to be unconscious.

All of these felt strange.

Rey knew he would never do any of these things.

But how??

How was he doing them?

Why?!

’Could it be that this Soul was placed in my body by the perpetrator? I have never heard of such a concept, but perhaps it is a False Soul?’

Rey had initially thought the soul belonged to the original owner of his body.

But Rey had long seized control of this body and these were things that Rey didn’t rember doing.

So how did this happen??

Regardless, whoever was responsible for this had not only fanned the flas of suspicion on him, but had also made it impossible for him to deny the allegations.

He was in deep trouble.

[A/N: How will Rey escape the allegations now? What do you think is actually going on?]
