...
The mother fell silent thinking. She hates the immortal man to her non-existent bone. Not only did he humiliate her by holding a mystic oath, but she couldn't even kill him before the oath.
When he was trapped, the man could escape whenever he wanted. The man was truly irritating. After fusing with Holen, the vines were free from her contact. At least, that was what she thought. After all, there weren't that many situations where soone fused together to avoid the mystic oath.
Even then it would be bad to assu such a thing, it would be fatal if the oath was still in effect even though her mind was affected by Holen when they fused. In theory, they would beco different, not Holen nor the mother.
I don't know, I'm currently under a mystic oath with that guy and If I break it we might both die.
What's a mystic oath?
Holen voices his question, he knows how mystic works at a basic level but he didn't know much about rules and working behind them. Getting a hand on mystic was hard, you either needed to co in contact with the church, heretics, or the royals. All of them were hard to get information on.
The church would always handle the heretic, the church priest was even harder to get in touch with since they wouldn't entertain bribery because they don't need money. Moreover, if one of the priests was caught spilling information, the church would hunt them down and burn them.
Holen had tried a couple of tis but all his attempts ended up with the random n that he hired through a third party killed.
Lastly, the Royals. He thought it would be the easiest, but aside from the academy people, the Royals were even more tight lips than the church. For whatever reason even if you bribe them, the royals just won't talk about anything related to mystic. The knights and the academy were the sa.
He suspected that it had sothing to do with the church but that was as far as he could go. However he could still get so understanding from the rough mystic that popped out from ti to ti, he caught one before the church could track the guy down and ask so questions.
Most of the ti they don't even know what they had either. The power varied too much and the 'price' they demanded was also random. Only the Sun church and the Northern tribe have so common in them.
Mystic oath is basically a contract that if you break, you will die
outright?
No.... but similar
Then we should give it a shot because I'm dying either way... Wait what's your oath?
I need to follow his orders and so far he only ordered to find the book and nothing else
What if we kill him before he can give you any orders? that wouldn't violate any oath, right?
Right,
the mother thought about the possibility and saw that one could do it. They just had to be fast enough so that Atahn couldn't order her around however there was still a massive problem.
There's the biggest problem that we didn't address, we can't really kill that ant. The mother said
Even you can't kill him? Why are you so useless?
Holen was a bit taken aback, his body moved a bit in response.
Don't insult human, there are a few people I can't kill, and unfortunately, he's one of them.
The mother said with a hint of anger in her voice, she had lived long and seen many powerful people. Few could ever match her level before she lost to Nena.
Any idea what could kill him?.....
The scepter that the skeleton took, he was looking for it to commit suicide.
Why did he want to die? Living forever felt like every human wish
Holen heard that Athan wanted to die before however, he felt like he didn't really know the real reason.
For a human who's born to live with a hundred years at best, living for a thousand felt like a chore. He said that at so point he just wanted to die.
Then I don't want to kill him, I'll just keep him alive for his suffering. I'll die now...
What if he gets his hand on the scepter, you'll need to at least avenge your fallen comrade right? That skeleton kills your friend, don't you want revenge?
.....
Holen felt a pan in his head from rembering that fact. The skeleton did kill all of his friends and filled him with anger and despair.
'If we steal his scepter maybe we could delay Athan's death and hindering the skeleton at the sa ti'
The thought ca more directed a Holen like the vines were peaking directly at him. The detective felt all sorts of emotions and he hated to admit it, but the vines have a great point.
'How would we do it, the skeleton was too oppressive even for you'
Holen recalled the fight in this very room, the vines lost so badly and quickly that it was not even a fight, just a massacre.
'We need to bide our ti, the skeleton wouldn't lost so easily, he's one of the most powerful beings out there.'
'So we turtle up and gain power? how do we do that?'
'Just follow my words and we'll be fine'
-----------------
"So you're the rumored pope"
"I'm pretty famous to undead too?"
"I happened to know a guy that knows you," The emperor said with a skeletal grin. Right now, the pope felt like the most troubleso opponent he had to deal with. The skeleton retracts the word and puts it in a resting position. His hollow eyes look for any opportunity to attack the pope however he was surprised that he couldn't find one.
"Done checking?" The pope said with a grind, his old body seed so fragile but as soon changed into a completely differnt person when he stopped smiling. The emperor by this point lost a considerable amount of mystic power from summoning two subordinates from the scepter and from battling with the cardinal.
Without any believer to refill his mystic power, his very being was being drained rapidly. At that mont, the pope's old body moved deceptively fast, closing in on the emperor with insane speed.
Nobody other than the emperor even saw what the pope did. His old hand was covered with crude mystic aura but it ca fast and unexpected, enough to catch even the emperor.
The skeleton raised its sword to block the fist. His whole body felt the mystic clash against each other. However, his mystic aura was strong because of the mystic property of the Sun Church. Plus, the emperor couldn't afford to waste any more mystic aura, so he used it enough to avoid getting killed.
The emperor's body hit the wall of the church and the stone crumbled. Dusted filled the air as the priests all walked out of the church in a hurry. The cardinal despite being in a half-dead state was ordering them to prepare a holy relic.
The pope's body quickly parted the dust and delivered another blow to the emperor's body, however, this ti the skeleton wasn't fazed by the quick attack and responded promptly by slashing his sword horizontally.
However, the pope dissipated again and appeared beside him, this ti catching the emperor off guard. A second blow landed on the skeleton. Luckily the night emperor had a thin layer of aura to stop that attack.
This ti the attack was less effective than before, and the skeleton quickly adapted to how to deal with the mystic property of the sun church. Just by being near it, the mystic property of the sun church burns another mystic power.
Even the emperor's own mystic aura wasn't enough. The problem wasn't that his property was bad, but because he got a lot less. The pope arrived in front of the emperor again, not giving any room for a breather.
Without any domain, the emperor activates the Gnosis of the armor. It shines bright purple before the armor finally rges with his body making him a black skeleton with a robe on top.
He needed to end this fight quickly before the church did sothing. He knew that they weren't staying still and let him and the pope fight each other.
"You're not looking"
When the skeleton was sorting the possibilities in his head, the pope interrupted that chain of thought and delivered another blow. This threw him off a bit but he got an idea. The pope couldn't have thought of such a thing.
"You're not killing anybody here"
The pope said calmly and made the skeleton tough stutter. Its plan was read like a book. The pope ue his aura to deliver a long-distance punch to the skeleton. Sending the piles od bone even further away from the people. It hit the glass of the church and broke through into the church backyard filled with only green grass.
