A day later, Hilda, Theia, and Egul were walking along the snow-covered mountain. This place was filled with nothing but black trees and snow. The freezing wind blew past them to remind them how high they had co. Egul looked back at the team still having no trouble climbing and sighed.
I really made it easy for them huh
When he first ca here, the wind nearly killed him. Only hiding in a cave or pushing through specific areas allowed him to survive the cold. However, he did make it there, and his reward was just a tablet that he had no idea how to use. It was only for achievent.
Athan also traveled closely behind them. As an immortal he could make it here alone after hearing the location from Egul, however, it would have been a pain in the ass to climb and die every single minute. His immortal ability despite being quite powerful didn’t retain any muscle when he trained... He could build it up but if he ever died then his progress would reset. o suffering through this hell would be far more challenging than ever.
After so ti he just stopped caring about being physically strong. He could pursue through enemy with how he never died alone.
Theia also ca along for this journey because She didn’t want to be left behind with the tribe people that didn’t like the empire. Hilda agreed with her on this and brought her along. There’s a slight risk of encountering the twisted deer but with Egul over here, there’s nothing that could touch them.
Through the snowing mountain, they ca across a cave on the way and set up camp with this pace it would be about 2 days before they reached the peak where the thing was located.
"So what do you want to do with that tablet?" At this point, Egul had to ask. From the look of it, the tablet was completely useless to him however he might have missed sothing. A thing that an old immortal being wanted, sure better be important.
"I want it for my collection, of course, see I’ve been collecting mystical items since ancient tis. This one was another on my list."
"Pfft" Egul chuckled "Even little misy over there didn’t trust you, spill it"
Atahn looked over to confirm this. Thiea was not presenting a nice image. He could have assud it was just generic disgust, but after assisting so folks, he learned a little more about disgust. He filled his eyes.
"It’s called a book of heaven and when it cos together with a book of earth it unlocked a treasure vault at the top of the mountain"
"I assu you had the Book of Earth?"
"Nope," The immortal said "But I hope I will get it soon"
Hilda stayed silent as she listened, the immortal guy must left sothing important out however she didn’t care to find out, after all, they could take whatever ever inside if it happened to be good.
Egul lingered on Athan a bit before looking back on the fire. It seed like the doctor was telling the truth based on his facial features and reaction, at least that is what his years of experience said. Theia na dHIlda also huddles around the fire as they share so experiences from the past.
Ti passed and another day ca again. However, today’s weather was not as favorable as yesterday’s. The snowstorm blocked their vision, and they could only see about a ter in front. In this situation Egul’s expertise in the mountain beca handy. Even though he didn’t co here for a long ti he took the sa path.
So, the stone and stuff could be traced. After walking for a while there was a sound that wasn’t wind crashing against his mystic power. Egul looked over and saw a collection of vines coming their way.
It snakes through the snow, coming to them at high speed. Hilda was the second person to react, she quickly threw her knife at the vine. However, the trajectories were a bit off since this was not her regular knife.
When she was in the village she asked Egul for a new set of knives since she couldn’t recover every single one of them when it was thrown. Now she had more of a hunting knife with no hand guard. It flew faster than her normal knife but it’s not good when fighting in close combat with another person.
That didn’t apply to these wriggling vines. It ca at them like a fish swimming in water but it’s way harder for them to see. The snowstorm and the snow on the ground was the perfect space for this thing to thrive in.
The knives hurtled forth, intercepting so attackers mid-air before they could reach her. But there were too many—she couldn’t pick them all off. Gritting her teeth, she readied another volley, fingers darting beneath her skirt to grasp the hidden blades.
Yet Egul was a heartbeat faster. His leg slamd into the ground, channeling his raw strength. The snow blasted outward, exposing the tangled vines beneath in a jagged, skeletal web.
Egul then reached in quickly before the vines went anywhere. He grabbed the thing and pulled it very hard. The vines couldn’t handle such power snapped in half before he was able to pull it fully. Egul tried again, and with his speed, he was able to catch two of the vines and he pulled it at the sa ti.
The snow stirs up as his power surges. In the back, one could see a pile of snow being dragged closer to him However the vine snapped before Egul could pull the thing over again. This ti he was sure that it was not his force that snapped the vines but the source of it that cut it off.
Hilda and Theia used this opportunity to do sothing. The maid quickly threw her knives at the pile of snow while Theia summoned the wolf again. The girl had been wanting to use more of this ability for a while now. This was the perfect chance.
The knife flew in first hitting the snow. Hilda wasn’t sure if she hit the thing controlling the vines but Theia certainly did. The wolf’s was more than enough to cover the now piels. It bit on the thing with its ferocious jaw. Its teeth grind together, not letting anything in there survive.
What the wolf got was only a pile of snow in his mouth and a bit of vines that got cut off. Egul quickly approached the area and slamd his feet on the ground again, clearing the snow. It revealed a collection of stones that had always hidden beneath the snow since it had never left the north.
There, in these stones was a hole from which the vine popped up.
"Great, now we had to deal with this"
Egul rolled his eyes. He disliked this kind of enemy the most. It’s the kind that would just hid and sneak attack them. Not that their journey would be longer since they had to anticipate an attack for a long ti.
It used both patience and focus to do these things. both of which Theia was lacking so they needed to proceed more cautiously. The journey took them another day before it reached sowhere respectable.
-------------
Holen was riding on horseback with Jell being in the forunt and Oven being in the back. Normally it would be the other way around but the Oven horse had been damaged, plus Jell had a personal guide too.
"We are heading to the peak?"
This refers to the highest mountain in the northern land.
"The tower of the goddess?" The boy smirked "Yes, it would take us about a day on this thing, about two if you were running. It’s the best way to get around and we could never be lost, there was a bit of windy weather in the middle part but it’s perfectly fine to pass."
Holen nodded, and then he fell into a thinking position. sothing didn’t feel right here. Jel who’s leading the way also noticed from the kid’s words. If the journey from here to the base of the Carl Peak took a day then how did they get from the east of Forst fang tribe to here?
Surely it took more than a day of travel but their running didn’t seem that long. Or maybe their perception of ti was not of loop sohow so Holen needed to check.
"Oven, when we were running did a day pass?"
Oven was taken aback by this question but soon he two noticed the anomaly. He was also certain that they didn’t run for that long.
"No..." Oven looked at the book where Holen kept the scroll. "But I got a few guesses"
"I’ll see about it" Holen caught Oven’s gaze and opened his bag, inside was the scroll that he was originally here for.
