Extra's POV: My Obsessive Villainous Fiancee Is The Game's Final Boss Chapter 287 287: What If?
Ren walked between his brothers, their footsteps echoing around the corridors.
He had to admit that he'd missed this. Ho. The place where he knew every location like the back of his hand.
He wished he could go up to the roof and watch the village down below, but ti was running out. There was only so much he could do in so little ti.
He looked at his two brothers, a soft smile appearing on his face.
This right here, felt surreal. Like a dream he never wanted to end.
His smaller body still ached slightly from the sparring match, but it was sohow comforting.
He could use this to delude himself that this was real. That this truly did happen. That this wasn't so fleeting mory. Not entirely.
This illusion might be manufactured, but his emotions were real.
The camaraderie of his brothers' presence, their casual teasing, the sound of their boots clinking against the marble floors, he would savor every second.
As they neared their father's study, Ren glanced at Darius. "If you only had five years to live, what would you do?"
Darius scoffed, giving him a sidelong glance. "What kind of question is that?"
"Just answer it. Humor ." Ren replied.
Felix raised an eyebrow. "Five years, huh? That's not a lot."
"Exactly." Ren said. "So, what would you do?"
Darius crossed his arms. "I'd beco the best swordsman in the kingdom. Challenge the First Knight or the Commander of the Twelve Shields. Defeat him too."
"In five years?!" Felix chuckled. "Unlikely."
"Well, it doesn't matter if I win or lose. I want my na written in every history book before I die. I want a legacy that lasts centuries. If I give a great battle, I'll at least achieve that."
"I'd also like to die fighting, you know." He grinned. "With a sword in my hand during a legendary battle as I take a thousand soldiers down with . They'll call Darius Hellreaver."
Felix chuckled. "That's so you."
Ren smiled. In a way, he could say Darius had achieved a part of his dream. He'd died in a battle with a weapon in his hands.
Then sothing occurred to him. what if this was just his brain manufacturing Darius' response, to make him feel at peace with his passing?
He decided not to think about it. This was real. Whether it happened in his brain or not.
"I guess I'd travel." Felix said with a smile of his own. "Eat weird food in foreign kingdoms. Steal a noblewoman's heart. Maybe two. Maybe three."
"Classy." Ren said, grinning.
"What about you, Ren?" Felix asked.
Ren hesitated for a mont, then smiled softly. "I'd spend it with the people I care about. All of it. Make sure they knew I loved them. Make sure I never left a mont unsaid. I think... that would be enough."
Darius glanced at him, brow slightly furrowed. "That's a strange answer coming from you."
Ren shrugged. "I'm full of surprises."
They stopped at the large wooden doors leading to Lord Abram Ross's study.
The door had the sa grooves that he'd always seen in them. The sa chip at the corner was there, just as he rembered.
"Any last words?" Ren turned to Darius.
Darius exhaled, eyes wide. "I can't believe I'm doing this."
"Well, good luck." Felix grinned at Darius before he pushed the doors open with a flourish, the heavy hinges creaking slightly.
Inside, their father sat behind his desk, parchnts of different size and age neatly arranged before him.
He looked up, expression unreadable. His resting stern expression hadn't changed. Those cold, sharp eyes, and that always composed deanor.
If only Darius and Felix knew what was hiding behind them. They wouldn't be so nervous. Their dead was basically a tiger to others that was a cat to his family.
"Do you three not have better things to do?" Abram Ross asked dryly.
Ren stepped forward, pushing Darius lightly on the back. "Darius has sothing to tell you, father."
Darius spun to stare at Ren. "Can't I just not?"
Felix smirked, arms folded. "A deal's a deal."
Abram raised an eyebrow. "Well?"
Darius rubbed the back of his neck, fidgeting like a child caught sneaking sweets. "I, uh... we made a bet."
"A bet." Abram echoed, his tone disapproving.
"And I lost." Darius said, his voice dropping.
"So?"
Darius inhaled deeply, face flushing. "I love you, Father."
Abram blinked.
For a mont, the silence that filled the study was like that calm that always ca before the storm began.
It was as if their father's brain was taking ti to process what he'd just heard.
Then, sothing incredible happened.
Lord Abram Ross's eyes widened. He looked genuinely startled, his lips parting as if unsure of what he had heard.
It was like he couldn't compute it. Like soone had knocked the wind out of him, not physically, but emotionally.
"You... what?" He asked, voice lower and sohow, gentler.
"You heard ." Darius muttered, avoiding his father's gaze.
Felix was trying not to laugh, failing spectacularly as a snort escaped him.
Ren had both hands over his mouth, grinning from ear to ear.
Their father straightened slowly. Then, sothing solidified within him, as if he'd just made a great decision.
Then, with sothing bordering on emotion in his eyes, he said, "I love you boys. And... I'm proud of you. All of you."
Now it was Felix's turn to gape. Darius looked stunned, as if soone had just hit him with a club.
Ren bead. That one line had made the entire thing worth it.
In that mont, sothing clicked deep within him.

A soft chi echoed through Ren's mind, and the world around him began to fracture like a cracked mirror. The illusion trembled.
And then it shattered.
He gasped awake.
He was still standing in the courtyard, directly in front of the mirror.
The image had dissolved, the glow in the glass fading. The mirror cracked and exploded outward, shards scattering across the stone floor.
Then, a body collapsed beside him.
His head snapped downward to see a familiar figure slumped on the ground.
"Lilith!" He dropped to his knees.
She lay motionless, blood trailing from her nose, a pained expression frozen on her face.
Her skin was pale, but at least, she was still breathing.
