"Alright."

Ren grabbed Lilith's hand, and in an instant, they teleported to the field of roses where he had left Octavian.

The mont they arrived, Octavian was already mid swing. A roar of fury tore from his throat as he lunged at Ren, his fist aid straight for his skull.

But before he could make contact, Lilith moved, flowing gracefully like a river around a bend.

There was a crack and Octavian's chest crumbled like tinfoil as her fist connected. He was sent flying across the field, crashing into the rose bushes, dirt and petals exploding around him as he tumbled across the ground.

Ren's eyes widened as he stared at the scene. If Lilith hadn't been here, his head would've been blown clean off his head.

What the fuck had happened?

He focused on the light that was the coin he'd left in this field in his mind, tracking it to Octavian's location.

Oh. This wasn't the original location where he'd dropped Octavian off. The man had found Ren's relic and had taken it with him as he moved away.

He looked up as Octavian pulled himself from the dirt, his grin feral like a wild beast. He raised the coin between two fingers, visible under the light of the full moon.

"I knew you'd co back." He sneered. "So I made sure I'd be ready."

Lilith took a step forward, her white hair glowing softly in the night. "I heard you ca to kill . Why?"

Silence.

"Why, Octavian?" She asked, her voice quiet, but demanding. "Why do you hate so much? Why do you want dead?"

Octavian chuckled darkly. "You really don't rember, do you?"

Lilith frowned at him, her eyes dark. "Rember what? What did I ever do to you?"

Octavian threw his head back and laughed, the sound spreading around, free. A few seconds later, he controlled himself, his expression filled with fury as he glared at her.

"You. Are. Weak." He spat. "You were always weak. A stain on the Underwood na. An embarrassnt. And worst of all, you're a monster without control."

Lilith stiffened. She stared intently at her brother as old wounds resurfaced. Then, her eyes widened as she finally saw it.

Not just Octavian's rage, not just his hatred, but his soul.

It was fractured. Stitched together.

Exactly like Ren's.

Realization poured upon her like a bucket of ice water. "No…" She whispered, taking an involuntary step back. Her fingers trembled as she clutched them to her chest. "Octavian… what did I do to you?"

Octavian smirked bitterly. "So, you finally see it?"

Ren frowned at the man. "What the hell are you talking about?"

Octavian laughed, the sound harsh with not a single drop of humor. "She doesn't rember. Of course she doesn't. She was just a kid." His voice turned mocking, his expression twisted with sothing between fury and glee.

He spread his arms, gesturing to himself. "This? This Body Dominion? It's not a Divine Gift. It's a gift from her!" He roared, pointing a finger at Lilith.

Ren froze as understanding dawned on him.

Octavian's smirk widened, his eyes shifting to Lilith. "You killed ." He bared his teeth. "You ripped my soul from my body. And then? You stitched it back."

Lilith's breath hitched.

Ren's thoughts spun wildly. Lilith had done the sa thing to Octavian that she did to . Which ant…

"I also have the Body Dominion." Ren whispered into the night.

Octavian grinned viciously. "Now you're getting it."

Lilith's voice shook. "Octavian… I… I didn't—"

Octavian cut her off with a snarl. "You stole everything from ! I lost my Bloodbinding. My future. And I won't let a monster like you run loose. Not anymore."

Ren finally understood. While he'd also lost his Bloodbinding, his Divine Gift had turned it into Soulbinding. But Octavian had been left with just the Body Dominion. But that didn't an his actions were justified.

"Is that why you hired the assassin?" He asked, his fingers curling into fists.

Lilioth glanced at him in confusion.

Octavian laughed at his words. "Of course. Why else would I reach out to Fuchsia?"

Ren's blood boiled as he watched the look of superiority on Octavian's face. He wanted to tear it off.

"What's going on?" Lilith asked, her voice small.

"Octavian is the one who hired the assassin that killed ." Ren answered. "And the assassin was provided by Anders."

And in that instant, Lilith's body language changed. Her uncertainty lted away, replaced by a slow anger. She turned to Octavian. "It was you?" She whispered, but the sound still traveled far, reaching their ears clearly, as if she'd spoken aloud.

Octavian chuckled, his eyes glowing with malice. "I knew you'd be uncontrollable, Lilith. And I was right. You had to die." He spread his arms wide. "This is your fault, Lilith. You created . And now, I'll end you."

Lilith took a breath. Then exhaled.

She turned to Ren, her expression serene. "Don't interfere."

Ren hesitated.

"I an it, Ren." Her eyes were calm, like the surface of a lake, hiding an abyss underneath. "This is my ss. I'll clean it up."

Ren clenched his fists. Then, with a slow nod, he took a step back. Lilith was perfectly capable of taking care of this.

Octavian let out a feral growl and charged.

Lilith moved.

She blurred into being in front of Octavian, ducking under his clawed hands and caught his head in a vice grip. And with a grunt, she ripped it clean off.

Blood splattered across the roses as Octavian's body slumped forward, but the man didn't die.

His headless body jerked, trembling violently as his head began to regenerate. His severed head twitched, the energy inside trying to pull itself back together.

Lilith crouched and reached into a space beyond the physical. And with a yank, she pulled at the threads holding Octavian's body and soul together.

Ren watched in shock as she unstitched Octavian's soul from his body, piece by piece.

The threads slowly unraveled, and the mont the last thread was severed, Octavian's soul slipped out of his body.

It hovered in the air for a second before dissipating into nothing.

Silence.

Ren knew he should've felt unease as he watched what should've been unkillable die at the hands of Lilith, but all he could feel was relief.

Lilith closed her eyes for a few seconds, head bowed, before standing and dusting her hands off. She turned to Ren and began walking towards him. "It's over."

Ren exhaled, nodding. "Yes, it is."

Finally, the thorns that had been digging into their side were gone. And it was in a single word, peace.
