’A Legacy?’

Seated within the carriage—which had once again started moving toward the palace, now only a few ters away—Mathili couldn’t help but reflect on her situation.

She possessed a unique physique that nullified internal energy or any type of Qi, except for the one she herself wielded.

This condition, far from being an advantage, rendered her essentially mortal, as she was unable to cultivate Qi at all.

However, she had turned this very disadvantage into leverage against Princess Aleriana. Her true intention was to gather enough information to determine whether the princess truly deserved the Valen family’s support.

Mathili had feigned pregnancy. With her Qi-nullifying physique, no cultivator could detect a child within her—since their energy simply wouldn’t function on her body.

This gave her the confidence to lie, despite knowing full well that falsely claiming to be the spouse of a royal could lead to execution.

Now, as the carriage arrived at the palace—ho to Princess Alariana, one of the heirs to the royal family of the Azure fla Kingdom—Mathili prepared to gather every detail she could to judge whether the princess was fit to beco queen.

And the ergence of this "legacy" would be the perfect testing ground.

After all, no sane person would dare approach such a legacy under current circumstances. It wasn’t rely a source of ancient immortal power—it was a slaughterhouse.

People were killed over it.

The resources it offered beca the very traps that lured them to their graves.

Greed for power destroyed everything.

These legacies, which appeared only once in centuries, stood as grim proof.

Of course, there were always fools who boasted they would claim the legacy for themselves—as if it were no more difficult than a walk in the garden.

"Hey, don’t say anything like pregnancy drama in front of Aleriana. She might actually kill you."

’!’

Mathili was taken aback. Kyle had leaned in and whispered the warning into her ear before hopping off the carriage with a casual wave, disappearing into the palace.

’What?’ Mathili narrowed her eyes and frowned as she saw the sect leader of the host sect accompany Kyle, leaving her behind.

They passed through the palace gates, prompting her to exit the carriage slowly, one hand resting on her bloated belly.

"Should I eat sothing?" she muttered, glancing down at her stomach—which she had puffed up using an artifact and excessive amounts of food. Maintaining the illusion required effort. Kyle’s warning rang in her ears, but she ignored it, trailing after them.

After all, her goal was to et Princess Alariana.

She would simply stand on the sidelines and observe.

---

"What would Aleriana be doing, preparations?" Kyle inquired, turning beside him towards Olea, looking at her as he felt maybe after the arrival of the legacy signature, the chances of Aleriana also preparing to leave for that thing could be high since that would enforce her status if she claid it as the royal heir.

"Exactly not, the Princess probably—" Olea was clearly hesitant to make her ghost sect not make a move, considering that for those who are smart, they clearly knew that these legacies would be their graveyard and a dangerous thing where, more than the resources they could get, the chances of destruction would be enormous.

However, before she could finish her words, they suddenly saw Princess Aleriana stepping out of her chamber, a stack of rune-etched books balanced in her arms.

She looked regal but utterly unfazed by the legacy’s energy that had sent waves across the cultivators.

Her poise didn’t crack—not even slightly—as she stood outside the chamber conversing with two unfamiliar nobles.

Aleriana’s voice floated over to them—clear, composed.

"I’ve already ensured the King issued the edict. No heir is to summon the kingdom’s nobles without his express permission," she said, handing one of the nobles a scroll sealed with the royal emblem.

"That will stir unrest," said one noble, bowing slightly.

"Let it," Aleriana replied. "Unrest keeps the predictable fools from acting too soon."

The second noble spoke hesitantly. "Your Highness, if we are not to rally nobles, what shall we do to build influence?"

"You’ll go to the trade cities near the western border," Aleriana instructed. "Their rchant guilds have long been neutral. I want you to quietly invest in their inner-circle auction houses—especially those that handle cultivation resources. Make sure our na is behind every high-value item they sell from now on."

"Will that not draw attention?"

"It will," she said, eyes narrowing. "That’s the point. Let the others believe I’m desperate and doing my best by throwing moeny in unnecessary things. We need profit more than support right now. So, invest every bit of money we have left."

Both nobles bowed deeply. "As you command."

--

’So, she is Princess Aleriana...’ Mathili stood looking at the exchange of conversation with the woman, who had black cascading hair and eyes like fire, her deanor real and confident as her voice commanded clearly, making decisions wisely.

In her, Mathili saw the exact replica of her big sister.

A confident, potentially competent woman to her core.

"Oh, my darling wife, you just rejected handing money last night and now you are giving it to charity?" ca the voice, causing Mathili to look towards Kyle, who was approaching Princess Aleriana with his hands open. His words ford a frown on her face.

’Greedy bastard,’ she realized, sensing that this man was unfit and seed to be greedy about money, asking from Princess Aleriana while clearly embarrassing her in front of those nobles by opening his arms as if about to hug.

’I see... so, the Princess must be—’ Mathili was just thinking about how much trouble the Princess would be in marrying such a man who was clearly money-hungry and shaless.

And proving her doubt was the Princess’s reaction; her eyes widened the mont she saw Kyle, and her lips pursed in anger.

’You are dead now, Kyle Arcurus,’ Mathili already predicted, seeing the angered gaze on the Princess. She knew that Kyle was going to be punished. However, as she folded her arms to witness the drama unfold, she heard a voice.

"Isn’t my husband already going to earn money? Why wouldn’t I spend the remaining money like a spoiled wife?"

’!’

Mathili’s mouth was agape the mont she saw the Princess fold her arms with a smirk that was not one of coldness but a smile of flirtation.
