Chapter 56: Joint Project with the Duchess

Kaiser had imrsed himself in training, but it now occupied less ti than the comrcial and diplomatic affairs of the Paragon county.

"...Shit, I need to hurry."

In his bedroom, Kaiser hurried to put on the clothes Ruby had chosen for him. He had to go to the Donoghan duchy to et Dyana; today they were supposed to visit the various structures of the new company.

"Shit! Shit! Shit!" Kaiser swore while pulling on his pants. He had lost himself in morning training; it had now beco a habit. Upon waking, after taking care of his body, he went straight to the training ground. Unfortunately today, he hadn’t noticed the ti pass.

Toc! Toc! Toc!

"Kai... Young Lord Kaiser, I’m coming in."

Ruby gently opened the door; she had co to take care of her little protégé.

"Young master, but you’re not ready yet?" exclaid Ruby. "The carriage is already waiting... you’ll be late at this rate."

"Co help

instead of telling

things I already know, Ruby..." replied Kaiser, continuing to get ready quickly.

Without complaining, Ruby rushed to help Kaiser, assisting him with his shirt and taking care of his hair. A few minutes later, he was finally ready to leave. He quickly went down the stairs and headed straight to the carriage.

Without major issues, the journey was supposed to last about three hours; if he advanced at a good pace, Kaiser should not arrive late.

"We need to hurry; I cannot afford to keep a duchess waiting," he said to the driver.

Thus Kaiser left the county, heading toward the lair of the asshole who had once nearly reduced him to nothing, but this ti, he might get his revenge...

The more ti passed, the longer Kaiser’s list of things to do grew; it seed endless. He who had been a lazy person in another life was now burdened with the fate of running a county... ridiculous!

These responsibilities, though new, required constant attention and practical logic that he was still learning to master.

Among these activities, one in particular promised enormous hours of work: his partnership with Duchess Donoghan.

The origin of this project was almost anecdotal. It had been born during a conversation that was ant to be informal, a simple exchange on the subtleties of cooking with a duchess. Yet from this casual remark had sprouted an idea, then a plan, which had quickly grown to beco a structured enterprise.

Letters had circulated, followed by ssengers and samples, building step by step the foundations of a viable business.

The affair had now reached such a stage of developnt that Kaiser had proposed to Duchess Donoghan to inspect the facilities and evaluate the logistics on site.

Originally, it could have remained a simple distant collaboration between two noble houses, a principle agreent without major consequences. But the contours of the enterprise had exceeded this initial frawork, now engaging their reputation and resources in a way that needed to be formalized.

And what Kaiser had not expected was the duchess’s involvent; he knew she loved cooking, but he really hadn’t expected her to get so involved... anyway, it was a good thing.

After hours that seed endless, Kaiser finally arrived at the duchess’s manor; needless to say the grandeur and opulence of this residence. It was even more grandiose than his own ho... at the entrance, Dyana Donoghan was unmistakable.

She had decided to welco Kaiser herself, a sign of the respect she granted him beyond their titles... perhaps she was just too excited.

As soon as she crossed a threshold, her presence imposed itself, occupying the space with a natural authority that commanded attention.

Of an elegance that seed innate, she exuded an imdiate and palpable charisma. Her slightly wavy hair frad a face whose piercing gaze synthesized a blend of sharpened maturity, strategic intelligence, and absolute assurance.

’Fuck... look at those hips,’ Kaiser thought inwardly. It wasn’t the first ti he had t her, but her beauty simply could not be ignored.

She had retained the graceful and athletic silhouette of her youth, evoking for so a more accomplished and firm version of Isabella: her curves were harmonious, her posture impeccable, and her simple stance inspired respect mixed with deference.

"Lord Kaiser, I hope the journey was good..." with a smile, she greeted Kaiser who had just stepped down from his carriage.

"Duchess, I am delighted to see you even more beautiful than before," replied Kaiser, returning her smile. "The journey was a success."

Kaiser was perfectly aware that what he was undertaking today was not without risk. Associating so closely with a personality of such caliber and influence could be seen as dangerous, even imprudent, by outside observers. It exposed him, as well as the Paragon duchy, to a much higher level of scrutiny and political play.

However, his calculations were not guided by imdiacy. He was pursuing a long-term goal, a vision that required solid alliances and unshakable economic foundations. In this carefully elaborated strategy, Dyana Donoghan was not just an ally of circumstance. She represented a key piece, a central elent whose value and position could determine the future balance of his projects.

They entered, continuing their discussion. Kaiser had specially made the trip to give her a tour and prepare the dishes. The premises were on the duchess’s territory, but she had no ti and needed Kaiser with her to understand the recipe, so she was not used to going there.

...

The restaurant visit

"I am delighted to personally see the progress of our project," she declared as she stepped down from her carriage, a smile of perfect elegance on her lips. She lightly adjusted the folds of her dress before adding: "I did not imagine you would move so quickly with the preparations."

Kaiser invited her in, his gaze eting hers without flinching. "You haven’t seen anything yet... I find I work better when a duchess is watching ," he replied, his voice tinged with a calm that bordered on quiet provocation.

She raised an eyebrow, and a glint of amusent crossed her black eyes, despite the visible effort to maintain protocol neutrality. "Be careful, young man. One word too many, and one might think you are engaging in flattery."

"Perhaps I am," he conceded with disconcerting frankness.

Dyana then briefly looked away toward the surrounding buildings, a quick movent intended to hide the slight, more spontaneous smile that threatened to brush her features.

The restaurant, still in advanced construction, was simple but refined. Dyana observed every detail with the eye of a woman accustod to palaces.

"You will indeed attract the attention of many noble families," she noted after a ticulous inspection of the large hall, her expert gaze scanning the ceiling height, the table arrangent, and the quality of the materials. "This place has more significant potential than I first estimated."

"That is precisely the goal," replied Kaiser, standing beside her, also observing the space as if seeing it through his partner’s judgnt.

She then slowly walked toward the large bay windows offering a view of a small arranged terrace, where potted plants were beginning to flourish. A thoughtful silence settled before she turned slightly toward him. "I must admit you have taste. One perceives your personal touch in this layout, in these choices. It is not the coldness of an architect who designed this."

"I wanted to create a place that is both warm and open," he explained, joining her observation post near the window. "A place where the nobility would feel privileged to access, but without the usual protocol stiffness. A place where one would feel at ease, almost at ho."

Dyana then turned completely to look at him, a new evaluation in her eyes. The silence prolonged, charged with intense reflection. "You really have nothing of a teenager," she finally affird, her voice lower, almost murmured. "Your way of thinking, your vision... they are surprisingly mature. Disconcerting, even."

Kaiser did not respond with words. A slight smile, barely sketched, ford on his lips, an expression that seed both an acceptance of the complint and an additional enigma.

They left the restaurant to head to the main factory, located in an annex building with thick stone walls. Upon entering, the workers in full activity paused to bow respectfully before the duchess, visibly impressed by her imposing presence they had not expected to receive.

Dyana, without paying excessive attention to the homages, began to observe with sharp concentration the equipnt. She walked along the alignnts of polished copper ferntation vats, examined the temperature control systems and the preparation caissons.
