Chapter 168: Uncontrollable Desire
The aphrodisiac, that has to be it. I absolutely need to increase my [Level-headed] skill. Being a prisoner of my emotions... that was a vulnerability I couldn’t afford.
As I headed toward the tent exit, a hand closed around my wrist.
"Let go of , Olivia."
"Or what? You’re going to kill ?" she retorted, moving closer and frowning in turn. A spark of defiance shone in her golden eyes.
"But what the hell do you want from
in the end?"
"I want an answer! Were you sent by Adrian? Is that why you’re here? To kill
and make it look like an accident in the rift?"
Irritation rose in , mixed with that confusing, burning sensation. My head was aching, and her insistence was making
dizzy. I no longer quite understood what we were talking about. I just wanted to leave, to regain a bit of clarity.
"What are you talking about? I just want..."
"You just want what?" We were now far too close, barely a few centiters separating us. I could sll her discreet perfu, mixed with the scent of dust and ash.
And in a fraction of a second, sothing gave way. I don’t know who closed the distance first. But suddenly, I had her by the waist, and I lifted her, carrying her against the folding desk that creaked under the impact. The sensation of her rounded buttocks under my palm shot through the fabric of her pants like an electric discharge.
"You want to drive
crazy, Olivia? That’s not going to happen," I murmured, but my actions contradicted my words. I moved down to her neck, leaving a trail of burning kisses on her skin.
"Hmmm~ Ahh... Kaiser, we should stop... this isn’t the ti..." Her protest was weak, muffled by another kiss. "Yes... keep going..."
We stayed there, exchanging deeper and deeper kisses, my hands exploring new territories through her clothes. She left marks on my chest, and I lifted her higher, my hands sliding up her thighs to linger on the curve of her hips.
’Shit, I need to control myself... This wasn’t planned!’
"Olivia... I think... this is going too far..." I managed to articulate between two kisses, struggling against the storm inside .
"I know..." she breathed, panting, her eyes shining with the sa confusion as mine. "It’s probably... the aphrodisiac... We have to stop, before the others catch us..."
"I know but..." My hand lingered in her hair, pulling her face toward mine again.
She kissed
once more, a languid and promising kiss that nearly shattered the last remnants of my willpower. "I can’t stop, Kaiser... You should go ~"
Reason slowly regained the upper hand, pushed by the fear of ruining my plans because of Lust. "Yeah..."
I looked into her eyes, searching for an answer neither of us possessed. Then I placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Good night, Olivia."
I left her tent, the taste of her lips still on mine, the mory of her skin against my fingers burning in my mind. The air of Tenebris did nothing to soothe the fire smoldering inside .

What happens when two people, each wary and accustod to manipulation, ingest the sa elixir intended to make the other obsessed? Only Olivia and Kaiser could understand that ardent and uncontrollable desire consuming them, that mix of attraction and confusion.
In their thoughts, both were now convinced they had fallen victim to an aphrodisiac and were already searching, in a corner of their mind, for the antidote they would need to find later.
Unaware that true love was waiting.

The next day, as the first glimrs of moonlight through the ashes tried to pierce Tenebris’s permanent darkness, the expedition resud its slow ascent toward the targeted mountain. The air, still heavy with heat and deleterious mana, seed to thicken as they climbed the steep slopes.
It was then that they reached a rocky plateau swept by hot winds. And there, perched on rocky spires, motionless like demonic statues, stood Lava Gargoyles.
These creatures were far more formidable than the magma golems. Their bodies were striated with glowing veins of energy. Their wings, made of articulated stone plates, opened with a sinister grinding sound when they detected the intruders. Their eyes, incandescent slits, fixed on the group.
Their level? Super rare for the smaller ones, epic for the three largest.
"Get ready!" Isabella shouted.
The gargoyles dove in terrifying silence, much faster than their appearance suggested.
Isabella planted herself in the center, her face filled with absolute concentration.
She was often underestimated, overshadowed by her title as the crown prince’s fiancée.
But she ranked in the top 30 out of the 1200 academy participants, and that was no accident. She drove the base of her spear into the rocky ground.
In front of her, the ground suddenly exploded, hurling toward the sky a row of sharp rocky spikes that impaled two gargoyles mid-dive, immobilizing them with a crack of stone.
Without waiting, she freed her spear. "Art: Blazing Lion"
Vivid fire tendrils, like incandescent vines, burst along the weapon. She spun on herself and executed a sweeping strike of the Flaming Spear.
The cutting beam of fire, coupled with the physical force of the blow, sliced through the air with a high-pitched whistle and cleanly severed the wings of an epic gargoyle diving toward her. The creature crashed heavily, shattering into several pieces.
Zane and Kris operated in tandem on the right flank. A pack of dium-sized gargoyles attacked them, while two magma golems, drawn by the noise, erged from a nearby crevasse.
Zane was everywhere at once. His knives, thrown with precision, embedded themselves in the gargoyles’ joints, slowing their jerky movents. When one got too close, his short sword quickly hacked it apart.
Kris, anwhile, served as protection. His flaming spear traced wide arcs, repelling the attackers and breaking their charges.
